2011 2019 GMC Chevrolet 2500HD 3500HD Duramax Upper Ball Joint Replacement How To
Thank you for watching!

Working on my daily driver today...
I decided to finally tackle the upper ball joints on a 2017 GMC Denali 2500HD, it was put it off long enough. Follow along as I struggle through the replacement. I am absolutely sure there are easier and less strenuous ways to complete this repair. I was working with the tools available.
I have had good luck with AC Delco parts, use your best judgement on replacement parts.
Replacement tires are #Toyo Open Country AT3, so far I really like them versus the Nitto Trail Grapplers that were on the truck.
AC Delco Ball Joint Part# 88911433
NOTE: These ball joints bolt in rather than press in. If you are replacing stock parts, this is not the video for you.

Anybody tried the disc brake conversion from universal car lift kit?????
How was the install?
You still Got the box ?? Any updates ?
Oh yeah, I still have it. There has been very little progress on it lately. I have taken customer projects through the year that are eating my time up. Hopefully, I am on the back side of them and I can get back on it. I do have an 8.5” rearend build with install and the front Brembo brake install coming up. I appreciate you checking in, I will get back on it asap.
What bracket did you buy the link is to the store. It has several
Where you located at
Chattanooga, TN area.
You located in Ohio ?
Are these brackets compatible with 71-76 b body cars?
Reminds me of my 1987 Silverado came with all the goodies long bed...........
what is your feedback after a year? i bought the same fans
G'Day, what size wheels and rims do you have for those 13 inch rotors on the box? Thanks
Clean!
Are the fans supposed to push or pull air from the radiator? Also where was that plug from that you got the ignition switch from?
I have these as pullers, you would only want them as pushers if you mount them on the front side of the radiator/condenser. The plug I used was from some a solenoid for emissions/AIR system. It was a two wire, with one pink and one black wire. Pink is the 12v ignition power. You can use the black as a good ground for the controller. I appreciate you watching and commenting!!
@@formulized94thank you for replying back man, I didn’t get the notification from it but I really appreciate it. I’ll be doing the same thing to my 85 caprice this weekend
Nice work.
Thank you, fam! I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Oh, God, those are wasted. Control arms look a little floppy, too.
I am super close to putting the truck back to stock height. I was under it last week, seeing what needed to be welded back to go back stock. Looks like two tabs have been cut to locate the drop member. I’m over it. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Love the car and ls swap prices are crazy. Keep it og, it will last longer.
Wish someone in the Lima area actually knew how to work on these cars. I need help with my mine 😢
Trust worthy shops are few and far between. Those shops are generally so lined up, you are waiting years. Are you doing a resto or just freshening one up? Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@formulized94 I'm just freshening up one that's already in really good condition. I have a couple videos of it on my profile. Good help is hard to find even with money these days
@@chevymontanta You are absolutely correct. Most of the old heads that know the cars are passing away too. I just subscribed, I’ll check your videos out. Your car looks awesome!
Did you have to replace the master cylinder? Or were you able to use OEM?
I used the OEM master cylinder. It has great pedal and stops solid. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Nice....
Thank you, I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Great video
Thank you! I appreciate you watching and commenting.
Did the springs ever settle? Im looking to lower my 1977 by about an inch. Seeing if I should cut the impala ss springs or not.
They stayed steady where I measured last. I believe the SS springs did what I intended. The stock springs were just worn out and had the car sagging. It drives so much more positive with the SS springs.
Thank you for watching and commenting, trying to get back on the Box asap!
Did the springs ever settle? Im looking to lower my 1977 by about an inch. Seeing if I should cut the impala ss springs or not.
I apologize for the delay in reply. They stayed solid after that last measurement. I think the factory springs were so worn out and sagging that bad. It drives so good compared to the OEM springs. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I was fixing my '89 Caprice, and I noticed that its rear axle differential assembly is leaking from the differential pinion seal and the left rear axle shaft seal. I have to get those fixed pronto. But I have it running.
Heck yeah! That’s awesome, those are not terrible repairs. Couple hours in the drive way, just don’t let it snowball like my projects. The front seal and driver axle tube is leaking on mine. I scored a 8.5 with 3.42 posi. I am excited to do sideways burnout!! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Real clean. What’s the offset in the back?
So what you do about the front brembo setup ?
I have a 1989 Chevrolet caprice classic brougham LS with a 6.2L V8 Gen 5 LT1 with BTR Cam Setup. I’m trying to run brembos all way around so if you could help me out that would be greatly appreciated
I am still working on the fronts right now. There is not much out there for brackets that work with the box spindles. I am very close to having it complete, but I want it 100% before I show the install. Thank you for watching and commenting, I bet your box will fly with that setup!
I sub that was funny. This rims fit perfect
There is a new bracket out that will sit the caliper in better for rim offset
Do you happen to have a link on them? I’m trying to finish an 8.5 build for it and would like to try them out.
You do a video for the front 6 pistons yet ?
I am working on completing the setup now, wanted to make sure everything was 100% before I show it. I appreciate you watching and commenting.
Can I get the rims off you or any other parts you don’t want… destroying a Chevy is like letting the American flag hit the ground. It’s just something we can’t do 😅
I have been rebuilding GM vehicles with GM vehicles for years. I pieced this one out to fix another SS. I agree, we can aimlessly destroy them. I am also a hoarder, so Chevy parts are all around me. 😂🤣🤣
@@formulized94 you think it’s a good idea to get relays switches and thermostats from the junkyard?
@@vincentvillanueva3234 on the switches and relays, absolutely. On the thermostat, it probably would opt for parts store. Unless it were a super hard to get part, buy the thermostat new if you can. When you are scoping the yards, do not forget about fuses.
@@formulized94 I was thinking it’s been getting expensive. But if the parts are still good in yard then would save a lot of money
I put this kit on my 82 c10 and it didn't help at all. My window on both sides just stop before they get to the top.
I apologize for the delay in reply. Have you checked it out anymore since installing the kit? I would double check the install, then start diagnosing the cause from there. I have installed a few of these since the video and each one has shown significant improvement. Let me know if I can help any. Thank you fro watching and commenting.
@@formulized94 hey there I could use some help if you're open to it! I installed mine last week and absolutely crossed my wires somewhere along the way - thank you!
Great video, thanks fir posting, plan on doing mine in my 85 C10 tomorrow.
Thank you for watching and commenting! How did your installation work out?
Where are you located?
Chattanooga, TN

We need an update
I apologize on the delay. Work has taken me away from the box. I will get back on it. Currently looling for a deal in some spoke wheels.
So can you tell me where you got the seals from? Thanks

Hey man nice build. What did u have to do to clear the rear calipers from rubbing against the back face of the rim ?
I ran a 3/4” bolt on spacer to clear the wheels. Going with spoke wheels on the car now, shouldn’t have to run any spacer. Thank you for watching and commenting
I just bought the same rear setup calipers and rotors. I hope I don’t have to run any wheel spacers
Sounds healthy!
Nice so this is what my car looked liked when you actually cared for it
The family that owned this car, before me, took excellent care of it. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Those ain't slow I'd be happy if mine moved that fast lol
😂😂 They were struggling, but I have seen slower. Before doing this, the volt gauge would tank out to the left.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Looks really good man‼️‼️‼️
Thank you! I appreciate it!!!! I hope to have it on the road very soon. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I'm planning on going with this conversion since I'm swapping in an 8.5. Did you use front or rear calipers off a camaro?? I tried finding some sort of info but couldn't. As for rotors, are they "stock replacement" rotors for the same gen camaro??
Thank you for watching and commenting! The calipers and rotors I used were stock take off parts from the rear of a sixth generation Camaro, 2015 and newer. If you have to buy rotors, buy stock replacement rotors for the Camaro. Be sure to have the center hole opened up to slide of your axle hub.
@@formulized94 okay, thank you for the clarification!
This LMC kit is a waste of time and money. My driver side window was lightning fast, passenger side was very slow especially when operating it with driver side switch. Installed this relay kit today. Driver side now operates at half the speed it did. Passenger side works so poorly now that window will not even go up. Way worse than it was. Total junk. I've got new motor, new regulator and now another $60 in this kit and window on passenger side is still terrible and worse with relay kit than without.
I have installed many of these and never had that outcome. Have you went back over your installation or possibly even the OEM wiring in the truck to make sure there is nothing else that can inhibit operation. Possibly the switches or check your factory grounds. I feel like something is afoot. Work your way backwards and go over it.
I thought about selling my 89’ Caprice for a foxbody but there too much……..after watching tire videos I think I’ll keep it 👍
I am sorry or the delayed reply. Definitely keep the box if you have the means and the space. The foxbody is a cool car, but the Caprices(especially the 87-90) are getting more and more rare. Good luck with whichever way you decide to go! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Are the wheels 24's?
Yes 24 front and back.
@@formulized94 bet, they look good. I've been debating if I want to do 24 or 26s
Biyaaa 😂😂😂 thats right
Will this setup work with gbody
As long as it has the 7.5 or 8.5 inch rear end, it will work just like the box. I appreciate you watching and commenting!
those wheels are so nice!
Thank you! I sold them to go to a true spoke wheel. I am regretting it. Thank you for watching and commenting.
@@formulized94 can’t go wrong w spokes 👍
Seen the links but doesnt say what specific cars and models the rotors are off of. The calipers are off a 14 camaro ss . But unsure of the rotors .
The rotors are from the 2014 Camaro SS as well. The bolt pattern is the same, but remember you will have to open the center hub hole just a little bit for them to slide onto the axle flange .
I am sorry it took so long to reply, I did not see the message. I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Nice video! I hope I'm not in for any surprises when I go to put wheels on my truck, this video brought that to my attention. One day I'll bring my transmission to you when I get to that point. I'm hitting it hard so hopefully soon!
That truck is going to be awesome. You let me know on the transmission and we will make it happen!
