DHC-6-100 Twin Otter GGLE takeoff run
Spent 73 hours at work in the last 5 days of my rotation. Tired AF. But still watching the planes, especially this one. GGLE is manufacturer serial number 71, built in Toronto, and delivered to its first owner in 1967, shortly after the Leafs won their last Stanley Cup. It’s 57 years old and running regular flights to Nahanni National Park and all the little lakes one can’t get to by land.

First playdate with the new Frontier- this time, with sound. (Oops. 😂)

Took the Frontier out to the sand pit just west of the village. Digs in real nice, 4x4 pulls it pretty nice too. It’s cooled off a bit, and there’s been enough moisture in the air that none of the fires have seen any growth; the one closest to us is under control and unlikely to grow any more.
Worst case scenario is happening. Fire 25km south.

When the ice road is closed but there’s no ferry in the water yet, all our goods get flown across the river. Just happened to be there to see freight ops for once, instead of running radio in the Mandatory Frequency Area while they happen.
Buried in the dog park parking lot- actually stuck, had to dig.

Stuck on ice ruts- 4x4

Still freezing overnight, managed to get all 4 spinning in this set of ruts. As usual, after about 5 mins of spinning and digging and making sure I was actually stuck, I set up the camera and almost made it out on the first pull forward. 20cm of snow in the forecast tonight, followed by double digit temps for the rest of the week- this weekend’s mud pits should be epic.

Winter’s last gasps in the North. The ice is softening up, it’s finally slick and greasy out, and the other half had to work for Easter. I got a turkey to cook myself, but still had to get out to have a little fun.
Back to the Gravel Pit. Damn snow removal 🤬😂

Went and scouted a couple spots to record at. On the way back to town to get lunch and gas up, I passed a plow and grader… on a Sunday… scraping the drifts out of the ditches. So, back to the DOT gravel pit. Sad panda…. Melt-off starts soon.

1) Spun into the ditch whilst “whipping shitties.” Who needs 4x4? BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO2’s for the win! 2) backed into the beach access north of town to smoke some weed; it’s kind of soft and almost 3 feet deep at the far end. RWD attempt to get out. 3) other side of the beach access; escaping in 4x4.

@@olgravey1364 I bought a 1.5" (advertised) Ironman kit but ended up getting 2.5" to 3", lol. Now my rear camber is off...BUT I can see over others, hahaha, and can climb over pretty much anything.

@@olgravey1364 Привет! Немного не то имел ввиду, что ты подумал. Живу в центре России, тут ненамного теплее зимой чем в Сибири. Некоторое время назад проводил очень много времени вне дорог и в грязь, и в снег. Была другая машина. Места у нас конечно не такие дикие, но что такое бездорожье знаю не понаслышке. На твоих видео не понимаю что ты пытаешься показать буксуя на Ниссане на одном и том же месте. Причем многие видео похожи между собой. Сейчас у меня такой же Ниссан и я знаю, что он может не много по сравнению с подготовленным внедорожником. Маленькие ходы подвески, низкий клиренс и плохо работающие имитации блокировок не позволяют ему заехать далеко без подготовки. В остальном добротный автомобиль на котором приятно ездить на лёгком бездорожье.

Canadian here. Our gov’t has passed some pretty tyrannical online censorship laws in the last few months and before I go any higher up than this, I need to make sure I’m not going to end up on a list with no access to any kind of electronic devices- if you know what I mean. I can set up that kind of content on a pay model, I just can’t put it on any medium accessible by people under 18. Like UA-cam. I appreciate the support and am glad you’re somewhat enjoying the content I AM able to make and share. It’s not free or easy (with one working arm) to make, by any stretch of the imagination. Ultimately I value the life I’ve built away from the camera and accept that I can’t please everyone…yet. When I’m set up for that kind of content, I’ll share it out. 🙂

I was out of this just a little too fast to get inside shots, and had to get to work. (It’s frowned upon to be late for shift change in the control tower.) Next time. The good news is that we’re about to get hit with another 10 to 20 cm of snow tonight, which will be melting off in the couple days following and make the mud pits extra gooey this weekend. I’ve been waiting for this time of year; it’s almost mudding season 😁🍆💦
