Say, Am I Vile?
I had the privilege of being asked to perform at In Parallel's event for International Women's Day last week, what a turn out and what incredible content! Truly and inspiring evening.
This is the first original song I have ever played live, finally!!! It was so exciting to share this with the guests at the event, and now with the internet here.
Say, Am I Vile? Is a song inspired by Cuckoo birds. The mother lays their eggs in a surrogate mothers nest as a survival mechanism, however when the baby Cuckoo hatches it will push the native eggs out of the nest, in order to get the surrogates undivided attention. I'll include the lyrics below incase you wish to follow along, otherwise I hope you like it.

Before my eyes could see, before mind could filter in the light,
The world was much to crowded for me, and I felt the urge to fight,
the yet unborn and fragile beings that inhabited this nest.

Very good. My favourite Meat Loaf/Steinman song. These songs from Bat, Bad For Good and Dead Ringer were a large part of the music I listened to in my youth. The songs were never fashionable in their day…..but that’s great, as they remain timeless and still sound great in the modern era…45 years later. Lovely sentiments Sara and enjoyed your version. X

I loved all his songs that he made with Jim. It was a time when songs told a story not just a hook phrase. Though for all his songs that everyone knows For Crying Out Load was the lest hyped but was always my favorite, maybe because it wasn't worn out by over exposure. There is a real interesting Ted Talk by a MIT mathematician that created a mathematical graphing representation of songs showing that the current music has less to do with the words and more to do with the brains attraction to repetition of patters in the song. Ear worms, beats and replayed rifts put into the grinder can actually be predicted if it will be successful by the patters it makes the brain wants to hear. His ref to songs like Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody is much less likely to be produced as its lacking the math to back its success. Lets hope there are still Meatloaf's out there to carry the flag of music like this.
