CHEMEX COFFEE BREWING RECIPE FOR BEGINNERS! Great tasting coffee at home [BGM] [COFFEE] [MELBOURNE]
#filtercoffee #homebarista #melbourne
Welcome back to another episode of Caleidoscope! Today we will be diving into my favorite Chemex brewing recipe! It's similar to a v60 but has more clarity in its flavor profile!
Remember to always use freshly roasted and freshly ground coffee for the best results. Otherwise, your local specialty coffee shop/roaster will be more than happy to grind it to your desired liking :)
Recipe:
700g total water
46g total coffee
100g 30s 1st bloom - swirl
100g 30s 2nd bloom - stir
500g water steady pour
take out filter paper at 5min mark
Feel free to comment if you have any questions regarding the method that I've shown in the video or need any tips and tricks for your home coffee brewing experience.

You should explain how to pour the „base“. I really think that that’s my problem sometimes because my art doesn’t work as well
1:16 but what size are the jugs lmao?
Love the video! I want to try drip coffee but don't want to buy an expensive assembly before I do. Few questions: Does the paper filter go above or below the grinds? Do you use a new plastic bag every time? How concentrated would you say the coffee is?
Nice music sync!
I’m going to keep watching this I really need to hone in my steaming skills with variations of milk. I’m a rookie ☕️ compared to your skills
Amazing video! You're super creative!
Great idea lol…
Why do you pour out the first part before you pour?
Usually because it's too thick.
4:06 why you throw away the milk first?
Brilliant
a few tips/hacks you can do 1 get a metal Filter {aeropress} that is large enough to fit over the paper filter/rim {Together with a paper filter it will more evenly spread the water} 2 put the entire tower in the fridge or a cooler box, to eliminate the most annoying factor: ambient temperature. {yes tested it myself, and it indeed improves the taste} 3 use a dedicated grinder specifically for cold-drip, that way you always have the PERFECT grind size 4 USE METRIC measurements for everything. from the amount of Coffee to the amount of water and ice. That way you can get the exact result every time. make sure to write down everything, from weight, to time it dripped. {and yes this works, it took me about a 75-100 tries before i got the PERFECT ratio for my tower}. 25 where kinda ruined due ambient temperature being different each time, after i used the coolerbox method, the taste was the same every try.
Great video buddy, and thankyou! 👍
A very useful review!! What is the brand name of the 600 cc jug?
Hey, just interested in open discussion, do you think that the melba jug is too light in weight. Its just 170g. Do you have any idea what the best weight of 490ml jug shoud be, or medium jug compare to other brand? I got mine last year but still not satisfied enough. Thanks
great brewing...never used chemex before, it must be great!
Are you using a Duralex Picardie glass in this demonstration? What size glass is that (in oz)? Thanks. Great video man!
Hey im in the middle of doing this rn, just wondering how long you shook for?
You are really helping me through this tough time! I’m getting a Chemex now!
Finally a reason to watch youtube again! Can I be friends too?
Awesome content!
"less cleanup" proceeds to make more mess
Which grind size do you use?
to me it looks like the design of this Melba jug has changed over time, because in other videos the shape appears more rounded than this. does yours say Tiamo on it somewhere?
asan na si Georgia Ferrer? gang notification nalang tong nabasa ko, binura pa yung comment nya dito haha prnt.sc/s17k73 sorry po ha, pinagdidiinan nyo po yung sarcasm eh mukhang kayo di nkakaintindi, halata naman sa tanong na sarcasm yung "anong connection? di nyo po ba afford?" prnt.sc/s17loy to Video uploader, good content po :D (not sarcasm, seryoso po) :D
Omg the tulip stack looked so perfect 😭
SO GOOOD
Great series!
The viscosity!
Does it really have to be hot water?
Yes! So that the sugar easily dissolves.
Wow! Wonder what else i can make dalgona into
First time i've seen your bench so clean! WOW
SO CAFFEINATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sign me up
Dang that reverse action. Do a inverse pour next!
I found this highly helpful and informative. Amazing stuff. so thankfull pl0x!!
SO HANDSOME
MORE CONTENT PLEASE!!!
Probs my fav video so far! Actually learnt something new today 👍🏻
Didnt ask for it cause i never knew i needed this in my life till now
Thank you for your support Brandon!
What a neat trick !
Yes! You can try with yourself at home too, just remember to make some for others who are staying home too!
Ez Clap
TOO EASY
Hey viewers! Let me know if you like this style of editing :)
Great video, love it
1:49 'glass thinga ma gig' hahaha. It'd be cool to see you taste it at the end! :) Also, does the coarseness of the coffee grind impact the flavour and what is TDS, does using different types of beans impact this?
Great video!!! Does the 720g include the ice weight as well? If so what’s the ratio of water and ice? Does that matter?
Thanks for your question, Brandon! Yes, 720g includes both water and ice weight together. The ratio of water to ice does not matter, just as long as the water that hits the coffee is cold-ish.
@@caleidoscope3500 The water-ice ratio matters, as this affects the speed the water drips/ice melts. colder water molecules are larger, meaning it takes longer to drip down. As for Brandon, what works for Caleidoscope might not work for you, as each person likes a different ratio. Using metric to write down everything will give the exact same result every time. {at least if you put it in a coolerbox, due ambient temperature being a large factor in taste}
Thank you so much for this video!! I finally made my own cold dripped coffee. Looking forward to your next videos!
Glad you liked the video, Darren. I'm happy to hear that you tried your hand at making your own cold drip coffee in a time where we all need to work from home and practice social distancing. Stay safe and remember to stock up on more coffee beans!
How does the coffee taste? We all want to know
It tastes really good. As this coffee comes from Honduras, you can expect poached pear, maple syrup, and vanilla!
Sick vid!
