The only difference is a 556 is a sloppy chamber for reliability in auto loaders 223 is tighter chamber for higher accuracy and 223 wyld is a hybrid of the two.

Brass and bullet are the same. 223 max PSI 55k while 556 max pressure is 63k! The rifles chamber is the real difference. You can shoot 556 from a 223 remington chamber without a problem

Dont they use a different formula or pressure measurement between the 2 or how the came to lable what pressure each one has or something? I thought someone had a vid on it and they were saying its alot closer than the numbers say if u tested 1 of each in the same way

So I’ve been trying my damnedest for years now and I’ve found 223 and 556 have different shoulders and different pressures and different bullet construction but which is which depends entirely on the brand a box of one brands 223 can be more pressure then there 556 and the opposite in another brand one shoulder can be more steep in 556 and in the other brand it’s 223 one brand will have 223 bonded and another 556 bonded. Basically the difference in the rounds is ammo brand specific and the head stamps

Stand them up side by side and ull see the difference between them. Like 308winchester 7.62/51nato same difference.

Only difference is 556 is loaded hotter if you reload you will be using same lead and case just a little hotter faster

Older Mini 14 rifles are stamped 223, but the manual says 223 (5.56). And it you call Ruger they tell you its safe.

It’s trash end if conversation! Lol I have this truck as my work truck and it’s horrible on fuel, even empty they barely crack 20mpg which is horrible. I did a 2,500 mile road trip to MOAB for a dirtbike trip towing a 3,000lbs (yes that’s loaded) v nose enclosed trailer and I averaged 8mpg, yes you read that right 8mpg these things are trash! Think god it’s my work truck and I don’t win it mine a 2023 we have a few newer employees that have gotten there trucks recently which are the 2025 version and Chevy went back to the 5.3l v8 and I’m assuming it’s because this 2.7l turbo is so bad with fuel which was its claim to fame when they made it.
