I just started maining Magik and i'll admit that i'm not the best Magik player but what i can say is that out of all the Magik guides and videos on UA-cam your Magik videos are byfar the most informative and educational. I really like your Magik videos because you go into depth on everything. Something i'd like to see more emphasized in your videos is explaining what playstyle to use based on the enemy team's heroes and your team's heroes, since i don't think it should entirely depend on how your tanks are playing (You mentioned in a video your playstyle depends on whether your tanks are pushed up or not). I just don't think adapting your playstye to be as effective as possible is that simple, i feel like enemy's heroes and your team's heroes should also factor into playstyle. Also what do you do when the enemy's tanks chase you off their healers, while your team's tanks get demolished by the enemy DPS's, while the enemy divers are demolishing your team's healers? What playstyle do you use when all 3 of these things are happening in your games? Your team's frontline and backline is getting cooked while the enemy frontline is still able to protect their healers from you while you're using Magik. I'd like to know what i could do differently in these situations where it seens like it's entirely out of my control to change anything?

I’m glad that in my 20 hours of play i naturally started doing the tank thing. I started realizing that she was a better anti tank than an anti squishy so I started hard focusing the enemy tank. Using the demon to brake shields and the dash to stop them from backing up for heals.

Just want to add that fighting a competent Bucky whilst being aggressive has been a huge gamble for me since once I've got him with the dash, I'm a surefire gut with his primary which melts health.

For the Magik Slash combo, you don't need to wait until she launches it to use umbral incursion, you can do it a little bit faster by casting it right after the circle charges completely, if you pay close attention the circle will charge then it will disappear and then she will launch the slash, right after the circle disappears you can already cast umbral incursion without waiting her to actually throw the slash.

I prefer to do the opposite with supports. Best way is to pressure a healer with burst healing ults without needing to use your ult so that when they do, you can now wait for their ult to end and wipe out the backline because of their wasted utility

Watching other videos, especially top 500 i realize how BAD healers are on my team. I get supports who think they can tank and should be running front line or doing 2k heals a whole match.

I would love to learn magik because I really like playing her, but unfortunately my team can never shoot the peni nests

Been learning Magik more as my ranked DPS main after learning Spider-man for about 50 hours didn't go like most youtube videos make it seem (still trying to practice tho) and I'm tempted to just give up on learning Spidey and make Magik the main-main DPS. I mainly love how all her moves flow into each other well and how she can swap playstyles on the fly, from sticking with the team and using the demon for chip to peeling off and going for a support kill and then going right back to the chip in the same teamfight as long as you've managed cooldowns well.

Another combo that you can do if your close up to a squishy is auto attack -> melee cancel -> magik slash -> auto attack -> melee cancel. The magik slash can animation cancel both the end lag from the auto attack and melee.

Just FYI the avatar was hiding the hp bar making it harder to see the shielding and healing effects. It would be better to be in the gap between the hp bar and abilities IMHO.

Venom Magik is lowkey kinda good. Venom launches up their squishies and slows them with his tether. You can either hit an easy dash on someone who gets launched up, or chase an enemy down after they've used their CDs to escape Venom's dive. You just don't see it a lot because Venom doesn't get played a ton, and when he does, the spidey team up is more appealing.

There’s something that’s absolutely blowing my mind about your magik gameplay that I can’t figure out. When you do her spinning slash. It pushes her forward into the fight. However when I do it she spins in one place. This is useful because when you shoot your projectile. You can thin portal and spin into the fight while doing damage and dash out if you need to. For some odd reason I can’t do that. Me if have to dash into the fight. Which obviously leaves me without a means of escape if I miss my dash (which is often). Am I doing something wrong?

As others have mentioned, Magik’s demon does have 100 health. I’ve found in convoy maps it can be good to place it from on top on the cart or from behind the cart to ensure you get the full duration without it being destroyed from being directly in the crossfire

I find it so hard to land the uppercut especially since my game gets laggy and frame rate drops sometimes

why does your eldritch whirl go further then mine

I really wanna like Magik but it always feels like she has to use so much to get a kill vs someone like Hela or Psylocke who can just kill you from range. I wish they gave her something like a cooldown reduction upon a kill or something idk

i an trying so hard to get good with this girlie but god its impossible to find a good button mapping on controllers i do like how she's one of the characters with probably one of the highest skill floors AND high skill ceilings, like a bad magik player will be absolute buns a decent magik player who at least knows the combos and pulls them off somewhat often will be a beast a GREAT magik player who can consistently pulll of the combos and tech is unstoppable edit: she's also the bane of my goddamn existence as a magneto enjoyer

Another tip is that Magik’s primary fire has damage falloff. So if possible make sure you are as close to the target as possible while attacking.

I wish there was a way to move the actual reticle so that it’s in the centre of where you can actually hit if that makes sense. My brain struggles with that like crazy😂

Something i had to realise the hard way with magik's portals. You HAVE use of of the attacks before you can shift away. If you dont, youll have to wait several seconds before you can use your second portal

There’s another animation cancel combo that can catch people by surprise. If you hold her air slash, and as soon as she launches the projectile you click her uppercut dash ability, the air slash animation will cancel and you will deal both instances of damage simultaneously. This instakills squishy’s

As a magik main let me give you one more tip, You can use her right click (slash) as an animation cancel to kill enemies faster so a combo I also like to do is, Left click, Melee, Right Click, left Click and you can either use her E dash or Melee again and that always kills 250 hp enemies. The reason this is good is because your normal attacks are just REEEEEAAALLLY slow and the right click allows you to get the normal out way faster

I think one thing worth noting for the ult, if you notice a squishy outside the radius of a support ult and you have a dash, you can typically instakill them if you land the dash, not worth trading your life, but if you see a way out after, it’s worth committing imo

As Magik I run into a lot of Namor + Squirrel Girl DPS comps on ranked, what’s a good secondary hero to learn and counter them? I think snipers are the best counter, but some days my aim isn’t the best. Are there any other counters that lean on the skills learned on magik?

In practice,you can turn off cool downs on your abilities, makes doing a demo on them easier.
