Jon Mackenzie - Silver Paper (Mountain) - instrumental cover
Переглядів 5177 місяців тому
A short instrumental arrangement of Silver Paper by Mountain. Leslie West is one of my favourite guitarists and I thought I'd do a humble tribute to this. I was messing about trying to dial in a guitar tone as close as possible to his on the classic recordings. Of course, I failed. But this is the result and I had a lot of fun trying to get there. #guitar #guitardemo #guitarist #lesliewest #les...
Barbarism beings at Eton - Jon Mackenzie - Rickenbacker 330
Переглядів 1,2 тис.8 місяців тому
A little instrumental I wrote with The Smiths and The Jam in mind. Two classic bands who famously used the Rickenbacker 330 guitar. It's a demonstration on how this guitar sounds. I really enjoy it for chords and picked melodies. Not really something I'd want to be playing leads on, as it just doesn't lend itself to those styles. Hope you enjoy the sound! #rickenbacker #rickenbacker330 #instrum...

Make me a pallet on your floor - Mississippi John Hurt - Arrangement by Jon Mackenzie
Переглядів 864Рік тому
One of my favourite Mississippi John Hurt songs I've been playing my version of for a while now. He always used thumb and fingers to pick this one, but I've been using a thumb pick for so long it's shaped my hand to an efficient finger style technique. It's a version, I hope you enjoy! #mississippijohnhurt #fingerstyle #fingerstyleguitar #fingerpicking #blues #bluesguitar #acoustic #acousticgui...

Bryant’s Bounce - Jimmy Bryant cover by Jon Mackenzie
Переглядів 3283 роки тому
My take on the genius of Jimmy Bryant/Speedy West’s ‘Bryant’s Bounce.’ Think I got a bunch of notes correct, but I didn’t quite go for the note for note approach. I’ll get my excuses in early! Laughter included as my cat was leaping about being funny. She makes a cameo about half way through. www.jonmackenziemusic.com

Favourite version of this.
this entire album is a work of art, and one of the greatest building blocks to my guitar playing journey. fuckin dirty and raw thank you for posting this- i’ve been playing this wrong for a good part of my life 😅
What kind of bridge pickup are you using on your télé ?
@@matlindell5022 Bare Knuckle pickups. Unsure of the exact ones. They were in the guitar when I got it. Probably a 50s style tribute pickup.
Excellent.
Your playing is outstanding on this one as well. I really like that Junior too. Sounds (and looks) great. Love the TV paint. I have a single cut-away version with a big fat neck, which is probably my favorite and most played guitar. Also, I have to say, your Tele is pretty cool too.
@@Viper_555 thanks so much for the kind words! Yeah I love that Junior. I should play it more. I need a neck pickup in the real world though. But it’s such a fun guitar when I do get it out. All the best.
Hey! Kinda late discovering your channel. Your interpretation of this tune sounds GREAT! Perfect version worked-out for a three piece band. Thanks for sharing. I’ll be sure to check out your other videos.
Proto grunge
Pick it son
My personal favorite Aerosmith song
Hey, whatarefriends4 what do you think this song is about? I'm just curious. I am a woman and I think its about making love to a woman. Or actually when Tyler probably figured out how to please a woman sexually. In your opinion is that crazy?
Saw then last night. Excellent.
I hate to tell you but you're playing the main riff incorrectly. Need to take a look at some of the other videos out there to get it right before you teach people the wrong way please.
no
This is a great demo of a gnarly part. Nobody knows this song where I’m due to play, but, it’s a great riff.
That's great .
Hi Jon..Great job..as a kid i learned Avalon by mjh and have loved him since..Thanks...Dave
Nailed it!.Nice job.
That sounded great. I can't make out the name on the headstock. What is it?
Thank you! It’s a Burny. ‘86. 😃
Memories of Kirsten’s mini tour , Settle , Salford , High Wycombe , Portsmouth , Leicester & Birmingham……6 Days on the road ❤👍🏻😊

Sounded Good Then and Even Better Now! Thanks Guys lots of Memories and History with that One.
Randomly happened upon you guys, love this cover!
Formidable 👍👍
Formidable....love it.
Well that's a bit of a turnup for the house of trouser - Rocking!
Nice guys - love it!
Great lesson. Better than the tab book i bought. You have great tone. Whats your setup?
The best lesson on tbis song I hav seen. Ironically, its being presented on a very un-Aerosmith "Rocks" guitar.
Beautiful! Im jealous! 😵💫
What amp do u use on this video? Its sounds Amazing!
Thanks a lot. No amp, it’s an IR. UA Dream 65. Great for recording in the house as it doesn’t disturb the neighbours!
@kenzieGuitarist Whaaat! How can it sounds so damn Good! 👏👏👏 And i like your playing style too! Good job! Feels Good! 😉
@@Kissingspell ah damn man. I’m sorry I replied to the wrong video. This in fact is my Princeton Reverb I’m using in this video. I lost track, as most videos I make I do use my IR. But yeah, this is through my amp. It’s why it sounds the business haha.
Excellent Jon, great sound that brought back memories of seeing Mountain at the Empire Theatre in 1972. Superb !
Many thanks!
It's a resounding yes from us! Wonderful stuff as always Jon. x
Aw thanks folks x
Mountain was my first gig Jon - February 1972 at the Empire Theatre. Always liked Leslie West's style and tone - both of which you've captured here. Nice one!
Thanks a lot! Aw I bet that would have been great to see them at their peak.
EXCELENTE 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
This is the best lesson on this tune! Thank you!
You’re welcome chief !
Reminded me a lot of hand in glove but that might just be me
Thanks man. Was going for a real hat tip to the smith and the jam.
Lovin it :)
New toys?
Not mine. On loan!
You’ve hit upon the thing hauntingly familiar. You are the only man ever to do this up proper. Thank you mister.
You’re welcome, man.
One more cool note (no pun) - Joe playing the G in the bridge then the Gb - very fucking gool
To me, Combination says "Aerosmith" like no other track on Rocks. Great job.
Sounds great. Thanks for your demo.
Nice that's my irl name
Instead of hitting the A on the 5th fret, play the open A 5th string......
I can't remember which song off Van Halen 1, but I think this is where Eddy got the riff.
Thanks a lot for this! Strangely I just discovered this album a few months ago. I have no idea how it escaped my radar. It's one of the coolest riffs I can think of.
@@unclesalty7778 yes it is a great record. Sick as a Dog is another favorite.
It's amazing how many tutorials on this are just way off. This is it! 😊 thanks, honestly it's been bugging me exactly how it's done for about 40 years!
That’s awesome man. Enjoy!
There's another great tutorial, and the man is wearing a wide brim hat. Excellent tutorial.
Really Nice tones and playing Jon! Cool pedal
Great job; to the point, quality vid, no frills, excellent tone!
Thanks man
