There are genetic tests that are much more detailed than 23&Me and Ancestry (and others like them). They look at many more data points from more than just saliva. You may actually have more of a mix of various regions than you realize from just using this mail-order test. It's also interesting to see those kinds of highly scientific results for what you would consider white Europeans on the outside. Sometimes the results there are shocking too. Millions of years of the human species mixing it up. Some also have trace markers of Neanderthal genetics. We are more alike than the things that divide us. It's just that we all forget that sometimes.

Yea I can't begin to tell you the horrors our grandmothers went through at the hands of the Europeans and how all of them got away woth their heinous crimes against our grandmothers, their daughters, sons, and even men. Hi, The truth is - DNA testing by a good company is eye-opening and humbling. I knew nothing about my great grandfather. My grandfather and father never talked of him or family ancestry. And they said is was a family tradition to change the 'last name' about every 2-3 generations! Many of the DNA testing companies are more successful at taking your money than telling you the full story of who you come from. I used CRI Genetics, $89 for a male hapolog of my DNA... all the way back to Africa where ALL homo sapiens come from (so, everyone, everywhere is originally African!!!). My results showed leaving Africa, then to pick up a son/new gene in east India, then Southeast Asia, then China near Beijing. Then on to western India for 5 more new genes/marriages/sons. A new gene from Rome, Italy is soon followed by a gene/son from Madrid, then on to Puerto Rico and 5 other genes/locations in Central and northern South America. Finally, this ancestor decided to leave the warmth of Central America for the cold of Finland to rejoin my 'people' who migrated north from India to Finland. And, I have 'at least' 26 generations of ancestry in Finland. As a blue eyed blonde, what am I? The dark skinned/dark hair/blue eyes we had in India? The Central American? The Chinese? Southeast Asian? or the brownish African as far back as Cameroon? The answer is 'all of them' Hope you decide to get a CRI female hapolog test to learn more about yourself.
