I’m on a mission to help make gardening easier and more accessible through sharing easy to understand garden content on social media and UA-cam. I’ve been gardening for over a decade and am here to share what I’ve learned from all the plants I’ve previously killed - so maybe you can skip that phase. I live and garden in Atlanta, Georgia - so most of the content I share will be most relevant to gardeners in the southeast. I know gardeners are making the world a better place, so let’s get growing together.

    I personally love winter, and I hope it snows , I love it but it is rare. I love cold weather too. Tho oddly enough some flowers do appear. Small calendulas flower in december. And in January there were lots of white small crocuses ...Sadly many people here destroy crocuses because they are seed as "weeds". Especially those autumn ones.

    Got the habit too. I have about 45. Sango kaku is gorgeous, vigorous grower. Others that grow fast, Glowing Embers and Fascination. Osakazuki is lovely. Purple Ghost has been a treat of colors. Been planting other types of trees to give some shade, Black Gum is native and just beautiful fall color, does not crisp up in fall like my JM's here in the south, zone 8. Your vid was playing and my hubs said...she sounds like you, lol. Thanks for the tip to move in winter, i have moved all times of the year, but i think moving in hot weather stunts their growth.

    The noms. The leafs. It comes from the base soil. Why compost and mulch are recommended to bulk up the soil every year.

  • @xaviercruz4763
    @xaviercruz4763 5 днів тому

    Would you spray with compost extract from the forest floor (squeezing a handful of compost onto a bucket of unchlorinated water, filtered or rested for a day so the organisms don’t die) then covering leaves, stems and even drenching roots? For the health of you and your family

    Thks. I grew transplants this winter in big pot at south wall of house. Cover/protected every nite. Was unusually cold here in north Georgia for a week(17-23 degrees at night. Yikes! Uncovered during day of course. Now that is much warmer I’m hoping it will grow more and make up for lost time! Thks for the seeding encouragement. I’m subscribed. Ahna 🪴.

    Potentially unpopular opinion 🙈 - I plant regular old big box dahlias. The dahlia addiction bug never bit me all that hard - and the colors at Home Depot are good enough for me. If you’ve walked by this section confused - here’s how to pick out Dahlias to grow this year. This is such a fun plant to grow that blooms nonstop from summer-fall. The more you cut it, the more it blooms - so it’s perfect for DIY bouquets for your table ♥️ #cutflowergarden #cutflowers #cottagegarden #atlanta #zone8a #gardening

    Sometimes it’s very hard to give timely garden advice that applies to EVERYONE because we all garden in different climates. Luckily, Hellebores/Lenton roses make it easy to know when it’s time to whack back their leaves. Do you have to prune? No… but it doesn’t look 1000% better ♥️ I’m super excited to share that I’m a 2025 @hoselinkusa ambassador. I’ve been fan girling over their products for YEARS; so cheers to making it official 🥂. I throw everything into my garden. Garden debris, kitchen leftovers, fall leaves, grass clippings, brown cardboard, chipped branches, but i get the most bulk out of old hay bales i get from my neighbor that are no longer suitable for feed or bedding. I get it cheaper that way. I keep throwing that down throughout the season. It keeps weeds down, helped the mycelium spread rapidly through my garden and i have soooo many big fat earthworms. It breaksdown pretty quickly. Especially if you dont layer it too thick. In the fall i have everything mulched with about a foot of new leaves and i get another round of hay to cover it and hold the leaves down You can throw pine needles and boughs into the areas that need acidic soil, for certain veggies and berries. Just keep adding anything you can lol. Ask your neighbors for their leaves and clippings and cardboard if you dont have enough. Buy some worms and seed your garden with them for natural worm castings. Get rabbits and use their ised bedding and poop as an instant fertilizer. Your garden is gorgeous! Good luck and god bless 🎉❤

    Are your plant beds enclosed at the bottom or are there places for water to drain? It could be that the soil is being washed away when you water your plants. Or maybe when you say soul you actually mean compost, compost is biodegradable and is constantly reducing in volume as it decays.
