My name is Megan and I am the fifth generation to have been raised on our family farm in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. I love the feeling and lifestyle of old-fashioned and traditional living. It is my greatest hope to create a slow and simple life that honors our heritage and bridges the divide of generations to keep those cherished memories alive while making new ones. How to Slow Down When Life Gets Busy: Tips for Finding Balance in Homemaking

Fall Spiced Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
12 Tablespoons Butter
1/2 cup Dark Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Sugar
1 large Egg
2 Tablespoons Molasses
2 cups Flour
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Cornstarch
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 1/4 teaspoon Ground Ginger
1/2 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon Ground Cloves
1 1/2 cups Chocolate Chips or Chunks
Instructions:
-Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
-In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar for about 4 minutes, until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
-Add the molasses and egg, mixing for an additional minute until well combined.
-Gradually fold in the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, cornstarch, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and chocolate chips.
-Roll the dough into balls weighing between 4 to 6 ounces each, depending on your preference.
-Arrange the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Using a light-colored baking sheet is recommended for even baking.
-Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. The cookies will be slightly soft in the center when you remove them from the oven, but they will continue to set as they cool.
-Allow the cookies to rest on the baking sheet for 10 to 15 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to finish cooling.
