Make high quality PCB's at home
An overview of how I use a diode laser to make high quality PCB's at home. This is not a full tutorial but a basic example of how I do it. I am using a Roly Lasermatic 10 watt laser in this video.

This is a good project for higher power lasers like the Wizmaker L1 36 watt. It's an easy project and only uses simple butt joints. If you would like the files to make your own just send me a PM. Also you don't have to use my box design. You could just use the faces and resize to fit your own creation. The files are in SVG and lightburn format. You'll have to do your own cut tests based on your...

In this video I take a look at the just released Wizmaker 36w diode laser. I'll go over assembly. Do some test cuts and talk about my first impressions of this machine. A note about the fire. This was not a malfunction of the machine. The mistake was by me using to much power on an extremely dry piece of Cedar. I only included the footage as a warning to others not to leave your machine unatten...

So many complainers here. Lol.
What software do you use for design/programming?
I am sorry can you plz stitch ur email plz?
Can you do this with Co2 lasers?
Fast search: Is titanium dioxide legal? It is associated with health risks such as DNA damage and immune system toxicity. The European Union banned the use of titanium dioxide in foods due to these safety concerns, yet the additive remains legal in the US.
Great video! I was wondering where you picked up the witch svg she looks great
Hi, what software do you use to make the PCB and for the laser machine? I was trying to convert my drawings from EasyEDA to LaserGRBL and it seems that they removed the option to export SVG, and I still haven't been able to solve it. Regards.
You could try MS print to pdf. Then convert the pdf to vector.
Life alcohol? I didn't see that when you mix it can you upload What to use in the listing of the video please
What are you doing and why?
Wow, you done a good job , what is the software using PCB design. Lucky from SRI- Lanka
Lento..
Just tried this with my xTool 10 watt - it works great but apparently I got matte finish tile with a somewhat rough unsealed surface. It basically melts the TiO2 in place and bonds it to the tile but then there’s a rough surface. Hoping to seal the outside under a clear finish - these would make wonderful holiday gifts
For single or double sided pcb designs this is great. I would love to able to do a 4 layer with this same technique but I think that would require some more effort 😅 still
I love it good 👍
How much time it take to each that area say 2X2 inch
I have used laser for some boards, but Im missing that last little detail, how to remove the thin resedue layer before the etch. What did you use? Oven cleaner? I have tried oven cleaner, IP, soap and a few other things. Owen cleaner seems best so far but its easy to go to far with it and then swipe off small detsils...
Is it really necessary to etch the board with the chemical solution if you already use the laser to carve out the unnecessary copper? im looking for a way to build prototype pcb at home but I want to avoid dealing with chemicals or spending too much money. otherwise ill just order pcbs from manufacturer. thank you :)
Laser doesn't remove all the copper as there is dust and shards, which can lead to short circuits. Etching is best.
will it work with greyscale method?
Have you ever tried to burn the copper off the board using the laser?
Just got this for 40euro free delivery
It's a great little laser.
Can you use this mixture on metal
Nice you showed it to us, but what is the process? What software, wich steps do you need? A bit fage all this
Looks great. Maybe I will try this on my laser. What kind of etchant solution are you using? Looks like the vinegar and salt method.
So is this actually burning the tile or heat setting the solution to the surface? Thx
Has anyone ever tried engraving a teacup with this tio2 tehnique? I had no success... is the problem in material of cup?
must be very expensive machine
I was searching for this video. Got a good idea from you. What solution did you use to etch? It seemed like a transparent one. -Thanks.
I used Muriatic acid and 3% hydrogen peroxide. There are recipes online for the ratio's.
If i understand correctly the laser is just removing paint and the acid removes the unprotected copper?
@@jeffmastin That is correct.
Where did you get those pictures from?
ouch
I recently made a whole series of boards for a prototype automated dust extraction system in my woodshop. I used laserjet-printed overlays and ran them through a hot lamination press for laminating paper products. It worked well. I now have a Falcon2, and my next project will use that new toy. My question is, why not drill the holes with the laser? Does it create too much heat for the board? Lowell
I haven't tried because I don't think the laser can cut thru the backing but maybe I'm wrong. Would be great if it could though.
@@lasersandsaws Maybe you can just do a small dent to center the drill and that would be enough. You are using a 10W laser, based on your experience, how low can you go and still obtain result? 5W? 3W? Thanks for the awesome videos!
Your cardboard holder is great! You could even use it for double sided board if you mirror the bottom side accordingly.
We think alike my friend. I did exactly that and it worked. The jig has to fit perfectly though or the drill holes won't match.
Hahaaaaa at home?
Lots of effort when you could draw it in a few minutes with a pen instead of wasting time using lightburn
What is the chemical Pcb itching

Hi can you please share the details of power % applied, as mentioned 10W laser. And the speed applied. Because when i tried with my Atomstack x20, 20W optical power, i didn't succeed with this process. Either pcb's copper plate is bulging with over exposed or the paint is not cleanly burning as you showed due to under exposed. With several tries i didn't find a satisfying result.
I used a 10w laser. The speed was 7000 mm/m. The power was 40%. You should do a test on a sacrificial board to get your speed and power correct. If you use to much power the copper will lift from the board. Also I found running a second pass at a lower power will help clean up the paint that was left behind.
Nice, but how did you make pcb holes ?
At home???????? 😂
Could you go a bit slower, I missed the part were you started to cut up the cardboard.
Найдите машину прямой засветки😂
я мельком просмотрел и не понял. В 2х словах какой у него процесс?

Hello. Thank you for this video. Could you let us know which products you use as varnish (the black varnish)? Thanks in advance.
It's just rustoleum flat black paint.
Cara muito trabalhoso . No sistema trasferencia de toner . Ja teria feito 10 enquanto ele fes 1 .
A única coisa que gostei foi o desenho dos componentes
And I was wondering what was for that 1 square meter table in the middle of my living room . When you say "home" YOU HAVE TO DECLARE " home with plenty of room for a full-scale laboratory + pcb manufacturing plant"
As interesting as watching paint dry.
Then don't watch.
Excelente 👌
How about on black ceramic tiles
please give the details of laser, also a link
Respect your effort. I know what it takes. In early 90's I used to print to paper (inkjet printer), then take it to copy shop where they had a copy machine, copy to plastic foil, than borrow iron from my mam to transfer to copper, but it was a guessing game of what temperature to use (i think I put board, foil, paper, then iron it all), then to take it all to chemistry... Drilling holes was a problem because of small diameter used, and "vias" I didn't even try to do. But it's all a waste of time now. You get pro boards from china for a fraction of time you used to make them before, and even can have smd parts on for almost nothing. One china company I used even had policy that all smd resistors and capacitors were free... You can do denser designs, smaller parts, you simply do not care anymore....
