Alta Via 1 Vlog Part II | Hurting my back, going the wrong way and a scary descent
Join me on days three and four of the alta via 1 in this vlog. These two days were pretty hard. We ended up going the wrong way on day three, adding an additional two hours to our already long day. I also managed to slip and twinge my back. We opted for the easier route on day four in preparation for our longest day on day five...estimated to be nine hours long.
Enjoy!!

In August 2024, I completed my first ever long hike (115ish km), the alta via 1! It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life (so far). In prep for my trip, I searched all over the internet for details on what to bring with me. But couldn't find a video with the amount of detail I wanted! I'm hoping that this video will fill that gap. If you have any questions or are thinking of doi...

Welcome back to War & Peace! We are currently about 1000 pages in as of filming this video...my physical copy of the book has grown massively and has become pretty difficult to read. So, unfortunately, I've had to switch over to my Kindle. I now have a clear favourite character, and a not-so-favourite one too which may be a controversial opinion... Welcome back to War & Peace! We are currently about 600 pages in as of writing this...my physical copy of the book has had a little accident. Let's just say my copy is now definitely the largest book I have ever seen as it's expanded significantly in size since my last video... We're really getting to know the key characters better and I'm starting to see why Tolstoy is such a celebrated writer...

I miss you Noorie 🥰
Great video. When you did the hike? (beginning/end month)
Thank you! Middle of August!
Scary to hurt yourself on a hike. Glad it wasn't too too bad. Did you do any training before this hike?
Thank you!!! Yes and no - I run 2-3 times a week and about a month before doing the hike I started doing F45 classes 4-5 times a week. I’ve always trained at a gym so am relatively strong and fit. A few weeks before starting the hike I also added 2 incline walks on the treadmill into my training :))
@@noorvb noted. Thank you for the detailed response :) Excited to watch part 3
Really enjoying these videos and what an achievement - I feel exhausted just watching. 😂 Looking forward to part 3.
Thank you! It was HARD hahahah
Loved part two and can’t wait for the next video ❤
Thank you!!!!
9 mins in and bailey rejected hia hand 😅
It’s hard to capture quite how beautiful this place is in a photo. Your video brought it to life ❤ an incredible accomplishment and what a wonderful video to have to always look back on!
Ah thank you so much 🥰 honestly one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen
the views are absolutely stunning! so great to see this journey through your eyes ❤ the stars are insane ✨
It was incredible 🥺
This is so amazing Noor ❤
Thank you ♥️
Thank you for sharing your honest opinions! The views are absolutely stunning. Was the trail markings fairly easy to follow?
Thank you!! Yes the trail is really well marked!!! We never had an issue!
Thinking of doing this in the future and this was so helpful! Very interested in hearing more about your experience :)
Ah thank you! I’m so glad it was helpful :) I just uploaded my Venice vlog (we flew to Venice for two days before starting the Alta via 1) and next week I’ll upload part one of the Alta via vlog!! x
@noorvb great! I started watching that vlog! Excited to watch part 1 of Alta via :)
such a beautiful glimpse into summer 🥺❤️ my postcard, so so cute!
hehehe I’m glad you liked it 💕✨
So happy that you are back Noor!! Your videos are joy to us❤️
Thank you 💕
Yay! So happy to get a Noor video. Congrats on your new journey. 🥳
Thank you so much 🤗
Cheers to the contentment that comes from self-employment🍾🕶
thank you!!!
@noorvb 😊
I'm 400 pages in. I liked it in the very beginning but since then it's been a struggle. Maybe it's because I've already seen the 2016 mini series before reading so I already know what happens, but the plot just isn't hooking me. It's all just soooo drawn out
It is drawn out, especially the “war” parts of the book! But I’d keep pushing forwards if you can, it gets really good!!
Can you share the name of the pack you used? And how tall you are? I’m only 5 feet so wondering if this would even work for me!
I used the Gregory jade 38L! It should be fine for you but I’d definitely recommend trying it on :)
Super helpful video! Can’t wait for more ❤
this was so fun to watch, I can't wait to go to new york at some point when I'm older, do you have one non famous place you'd say i'd have to go to?!
It’s honestly one of my favourite cities in the world! It’s so magical 😍 I’d say places worth visiting: NY public library The Met and Moma museums Strand bookshop Central Park Washington square park Broadway! Soho and Tribeca I’m a big theatre fan and I love reading so when I go I spend a lot of time browsing different book shops and visiting shows!
@@noorvb amazing thanks!
Such a lovely pink dress! You look so pure and pristine :)
thank you :)
Hey, just wanted to say thank you for sharing your day in your videos. I have also lived in my own for nearly 10 years and I absolutely love my own space and my own time. I have also just started to travel on my own, it’s a bit scary but just so fulfilling. Thank you again for your amazing videos and I look forward to the next one. Aaron.
Thanks for the lovely comment :)) ah travelling on your own can be scary but it’s just so amazing if you enjoy your own company!!
What a lovely vlog! Thank you. I especially love watching the kitties on their walk!
Ah thank you for the lovely comment! I’m so glad you enjoyed it x

HELLO, мен Қазақстандық адаммын.Маған сіздің vlog ұнады😊
I'm doing the Highline tomorrow and Greenwich Village and Washington Square Park 🏞️👍🏻😎💯
I hope you had the best time!!!
Bagels and pizza are great but there are so many local places... Try a chopped cheese in a toasted roll... Yummy total NYC !!
Next time for sure!!!
How is the view from the front row? I think I’m gonna buy front row tickets but was wondering if you miss out on seeing some things? It will be my mom’s first time so I don’t want her to miss something important!
It’s completely overwhelming (in the best possible way) but it is hard to see everything at times because the stage is a little high. I’d probably advise somewhere in the middle of the stalls a few rows away from the stage!
@noorvb thank you! So something like Row 4 would be better? (Anything further back and the tickets are too expensive haha)
Oh Noor! Just watched this video especially when I’m not feeling that great. A lot happening in my life, especially in college and problems with friends. Anyway, it’s a tough day😢 thanks for sharing this with us ❤
Sending lots of love xx
Hope you enjoy Erasure. It is great. Minor Detail is amazing. Strange Weather in Tokyo is strange but lovely in its way. You might also be interested in Enter Ghost which is a novel about an attempt to stage Hamlet in The West Bank.
Thank you so much!!! Erasure was BRILLIANT!!!
Heyy Noor! Miss your videoss❤❤
I’ll definitely pick up those Christmas books! Fun!
super fun!
Congrats on reading this beast💪Very impressive. I’m not there yet, but I’m about ready for my beautiful edition of the Michael Katz translation of Brothers Karamazov. But first a hopefully breezier tome,-James Clavells Shogun.
Thank you!!! Oh that’s on my list too!
I think going for the audible version of this is wise. That’s what I’ll do, too👍🏻(…maybe)
It’s a great experience!
😂😂»Really enjoying it..» So drowning didn’t work. Try leaving it on the stove or let the cat play with it a bit.

I always look forward to watching your vlog i have to wiat for it because it appears very late today i got happy to listen about ongoing attrocity on Palestinians which is being done by apparthied and illegitimate state.
Thank you!!
Reading some Russian writers this year, Turgenev and Lermontov. Will be working towards Tolstoy and War and Peace at some point. Currently reading Count of Monte Cristo so I maybe some time! So many books and so little time. Best wishes with your reading choices.
I hear you!!! So many options 🙊
So glad you stayed with it, he always used his books to make veiled comments on Russian society, the serf system, etc. Thank you so much, hopefully your comments will encourage others to read it. Enjoy your reading.
Thank you for the lovely comment 💕
The scene setting does take a while, but worth staying with. I have read it three times but then again I am in my eighth decade. I hope people give this book a go. It does help to get a bit of historical background, the march on Moscow and the terrible retreat. It puts everything in context.
I agree :) I’m sure i will revisit again some point later on in my life too
yay! Good work for real!
Thank you!!
Reading War & Peace = Living twice in this world
Congratulations 😊
Thank you!
Congrats on finishing. I've always been glad that I read it but it is not my favorite. I too gave it 4 stars. Anna Karenina is not only my favorite Tolstoy but also my all time favorite classic . I really enjoyed the PBS miniseries .
Anna Karenina is on my list! Even more excited to read it now 💕
I really enjoyed your series! In Russia this is a mandatory read at school, so I've read it when I was 16. It is so interesting to see an adult reading Tolstoy, because most of my friends had enough of him during school =) I think Natasha is Tolstoy's favourite character. She grows up to become he's ideal woman: a mother, a homekeeper etc. And I remember finding this change in her so sudden and so unrealistic. I an I gree she is quite annoing =) I would recomend you to read Bulgakov. He is also a Russian classic author. His "Master and Margarita" is an amazing magical realism work.
Oh wow that’s amazing!!! I agree, I really couldn’t relate to Natasha and found the transition far too speedy and unrealistic too. Thank you so much for the recommendation - I’ve added Bulgakov to my list! And thank you for your lovely words 💕
Oh my gosh when I saw how much your book expanded I couldn’t help but laugh out loud 😂 I hope it recovers but that really was funny 😂😂🤣 I’m enjoying your videos very much!
It was funny after the shock of it all 😂 ah thank you so much 💕
@@noorvb Ive been looking for this translation myself to read after you inspired me to take the plunge. I managed to find a copy today!! After seeing the enormous size of your volume (since it’s bath) my volume no longer looks anywhere near as daunting! 😂😂
@kayparkin 😂 I’m very glad something positive came out of the drowning saga
