I love this so much more than the very doomeristic answers of "They retconned my fav game" or "It's just a reboot, don't look too deep into it" I'm not a fan of those cuz they shut down the fun part of Zelda lore, that being the *discussion* of it. I don't like being told to only come away from something with the most surface level reading of it possible. There are other possible answers here that don't conflict with the timeline and Nintendo has been doing a lot to remind us of that by constantly pointing out just how big the timeline is. There's so much room for this to exist in the timeline without conflicting with anything. It could be, like you said, before everything, or way after and just be a repeat of things that happened in the past including the founding of Hyrule. It's literally not the first time we would've bore witness to the creation of a second Hyrule. If other people are satified with their answer, I don't really care. But I don't like when people ome away from it with a subjective reading that makes them upset when they could just as easily try to find a way to think about it that makes them happier. Idk, I don't really get it when people do that

I’ve been thinking that ToTK is its own semi branching timeline based on Zelda’s time travel. We know from OoT that time travel splits the timeline. I figure BoTW is the timeline if Zelda didn’t go back. (My more out there theory is that without Zelda there, it’s Rauru that dies and Sonia somehow “becomes” Hylia the same way Ganondorf at least visually pretty clearly became demise. She’s the Hylia in Skyward Sword’s backstory that rose the islands (with zonai tech) And mineru goes into stasis and is eventually discovered by the Sheikah in the future and helps make Sheikah tech.) ToTK shifts into the Zelda-time-travel timeline in the moment she travels back. Thus the upheaval and all the zonai stuff, the light dragon showing up, and all the old Sheikah stuff disappearing between the two games. I’ve got a lot of intersecting ideas about this but that’s the gist. The zonai version of the Sheikah shrines are cause Zelda told them about her Link’s adventure. Blame the Purah Pad and Skyview Towers and the doodles of Guardians in the tech lab on some weird memory echos between the timelines. Plus the whole Zelda is their descendants thing when no memories mentioned them having kids? Sonia was pregnant when she died, had the kid and sent them up into the sky with skyloft to protect them. Not the happiest headcanon, and does imply zelda kinda prevented her own birth but the paradox might lean into the concept that the timeline Cannot exist until the time travel occurs and snaps it back in place. Also, I feel like mineru had a hand in Fi’s creation. I don’t have evidence beyond vibes, but sage of spirit with skill in creating by constucts etc? I bet she and Hylia/Sonia could do a lot of the setup required for Skyward Sword together. Anyway, that’s my working theory, but this and your other video helped me nail down some things that were bugging me so thanks.

I really love this theory and the part about the dungeons in totk being the other tribes version of Skyloft is extemely compelling. The symbology of an "Arc" is compelling enough on its own and due to the Rito's natrual affinity for the sky its not exactly absurd to suggest that they would linger longer than the other tribes. That being said, in future theory videos I think you might find it valuable to find the theories biggest detractor (be it some information that contridicts the theory or whatever else) and either attempt to refute it or present it as possible proof against the theory!

There is a lot of evidences of a Timeline Merge

When the "official Zelda timeline" was first released, I immediately had the reaction of "Oh no. Please, the games were never meant to have a specific, established timeline, only a vague relation where a couple of them DEFINITELY take place before all the rest. You know, like Legends. This is going to validate the people who claimed everything was always intended this way from the beginning." And then totk came out and those same people complained about how it makes no sense in the timeline, despite it having as many contradictions as any pre-timeline entries. I started thinking that nothing would ever satisfy timeline purists and they just didn't want to be happy and I chose to not even try to justify any timeline besides botw and totk as their own little pocket story. Now _I_ get to be the one saying "No, actually, it makes perfect sense in the timeline."

Honestly i personally think gannondorf is demise reincarnated or aka the first form of his hatered. Since he is the one who clearly looks ALOT like demise. So this could mean, the past events in totk could have taken place after skyward sword.

What has me a bit confused here is how could he have gotten the power when he lost the triforce of power in the final battle inside Gonon's Tower in Ocarina of Time?

All of this seems to make sense, but I don’t think storytellers always think everything through in such detail. I also believe it’s in our nature that, once we start connecting possibilities and truly believe our thoughts, it becomes difficult for our minds to break those beliefs-often subconsciously, we don’t want to. As a student game designer at Digital Arts & Entertainment in Belgium, the highest-rated school in the world for game and animation film development, I’m learning that before creating game content, I need to research my subject thoroughly-but not in the way an engineer would. For instance, a 3D car model for a game might not function in real life, but as long as it includes all the visual elements that make it appear functional, and it looks like a car, it serves its purpose. There’s a balance between thinking through a story or functionality and meeting a deadline. By the way, I couldn’t come up with a better comparisonto story telling than a 3D car. I don’t focus on that aspect (story telling); I just create cool assets for games, so my arguments might be off. In short, I believe your story, but I don’t think the people in charge of the storyline care too much if certain elements don’t align perfectly with those from previously made games in the franchise. I think if they see your research, they’ll feel like they’ve gotten away with it just fine. In the end, I enjoyed your video anyway, so why am I even writing this?

It's a very nice theory and all, but you're only using the cutscenes lore and ignoring everything else you see in game like diaries, side quests and etc. The biography of Ganondorf that you see on the Pad confirms that the calamity is Ganondorf's malice. But at the end of the day Zelda lore is just speculation and fan theories anyways there's never a TRUE lore that makes 100% sense.

So this theory implies that Totk Ganondorf is a completely different entity from regular Ganondorf, and the reason the two characters look the same and have the same name is purely coincidence? That’s pretty stupid if true, like how the hell does a regular fan figure that out?

From a purely biological standpoint, it always bothered me that the Zora, an oceanic/riparian (arguably) species, were supposed to have evolved into the Rito, an avian species, only after the world (or at least Greater Hyrule) •had flooded•… I mean, wouldn't it make more sense in a large, •fairly• shallow sea that seems •mostly• devoid of large marine predators for a species that's already adapted to a marine environment to just, ya' know… proliferate. That seems like a shorter leap than for them to shed their fins, sprout wings and learn to fly, all apparently within one or two generationsーwhich is absurd/miraculous enough on its own ×D I dunno' 🤷‍♂️ …Unless •maybe• they were taking, like, a cursory glance at the archæoprteryx, which apparently only took to a •fully• avian lifestyle once most of Europe had transformed into a shallow sea｡｡｡ 🤔 Either way, it was a weird choice Wind Waker's designers.

Dude, I just now finished the entire TotK main story quests, and I think you did an amazing job with these ideas! I know that this comment is long, but PLEASE read it! I’ve been personally theorizing about Zelda games for the past few years now, piecing together crucial evidence that we see all throughout the timeline, and you even opened my eyes to certain VERY plausible aspects that I hadn’t even had the time to think about yet! Similar to what you were saying, I also detest the pessimism towards the TotK story, but also when people make whole elaborate theories that are so very easily debunked by a couple things we can see in game that they managed to overlook! In the process of my theorizing, I have found that TotK does not contradict Skyward Sword, but it actually compliments it just like you were saying. I mean, you even nailed my theories of the floating sky islands an the disappearance of the Rito! I haven’t had enough time yet to find some of the very important details that you did, because as I said, I just now beat the game. Your points about the Triforce, the location of Hyrule Castle, the Sheika, and even the hero that is depicted via the Hero’s Aspect gear (although it be a developing theory) are awesome! That said, I think that there were merely a couple areas that I can’t 100% agree on with you. The first is up for speculation, but from what I see throughout the timeline, it almost seems more plausible for Demise to be the original Ganondorf than it does for Ganondorf to merely be an agent of Demise. You are likely asking, “Why, and how is that even possible?” Well, as you mentioned, Ganondorf looks a LOT like Demise in TotK, and he is also called the Demon King, which is what Demise is referred to in Skyward Sword. I want you to think about this, but what if Demise, and therefore every other incarnation of Ganon/Ganondorf that we see throughout the timeline is actually the original Ganondorf reembodying himself? It even says in SS that Demise appears differently to different people, which could be a reference to the fact that he has the ability to do this! Then, it would almost make even MORE sense for the original Ganondorf to want to get his hands on the Triforce! Furthermore, it’s more likely that he come back under the name of Ganondorf in OoT instead of some other name, than it is for the first man referred to as the Demon King and the antagonist of OoT to wind up with the same name. Secondly, I cannot pull myself to agree with you about the Goddess Sword being created by the Zonai at all. I’ve thought really hard about that idea, and it just can’t be that way. I know you based this idea off of the Zelda time loop theory, but I’ll get to that in a moment as well. The first reason is that SS states that Hylia created the Goddess Sword, while the other reason is that it completely contradicts the idea that the timeline is actually not a loop. Now onto the loop, which will help to explain some things about both the Ganondorf/Demise and sword theories. This is the largest fundamental element to our perception of the entire timeline, so this is super important. I wrestled with this one on and off for a while, but I finally realized what happened with Zelda going back in time! We know that when they first meet Ganondorf below Hyrule Castle, he already knows their names, stating that Rauru put his faith in them. When we return to the Zonai mural room right before that chamber, we find that the covered murals all show elements of Zelda or the Master Sword. So the big question is, “How could Ganondorf know their names, and the Zonai murals depict Zelda and the Master Sword if Zelda nor the Master Sword have been sent back in time yet?” What I was able to come up with after analyzing the details and comparing this phenomena to a couple of other Zelda games is that the murals did not depict Zelda or the Master Sword before Zelda became the dragon. See, we watched elements of the present day change instantly when parts of the past were changed, so it is very likely that what was written down and depicted by the Zonai changed as well! “But how does Ganondorf know their names?”, you may ask. This ties right back into what I talked about earlier with it being the SAME Ganondorf reembodied throughout the entire timeline! Therefore, how could he NOT know their names after being beaten by two teenagers with the same names time and time again? Then that begs the question, “How did Rauru know their names?” There are two possible answers to this, both of which seem completely plausible. Either way, it involves Rauru receiving a prophecy of some kind that informed him of two people in the future that would defeat him. The first possibility is that the prophecy that was given to Rauru contained the names of Link and Zelda, which he would Have relayed to Ganondorf as we see in the memories. Falling back on what I said earlier about how Ganondorf knew their names, the second possibility is that Rauru did not know their names, and Ganondorf simply put the pieces together after having already been defeated in every other form that he has embodied by a boy wielding the Master Sword and a princess who is always named Zelda. Furthermore, we’ve seen prophecies at work in other games, from OoT, to BotW, AoC, and other places that I can’t currently recall. To sum this ALL up, I perceive that Ganondorf is the origin of Demise (and every other incarnation of himself), that Rauru received some sort of prophecy in the first enactment of the timeline, that Zelda rewrote certain elements of the timeline, and that the Goddess Sword was therefore created by Hylia in a linearly flowing timeline. Let me know your thoughts if you are willing, because you’ve gotten this whole thing more right than most anyone else I’ve looked into!
