*sniff* It's so beautiful...Homeworld cutscenes, despite being built on a really outdated game engine, put many professional movies to shame. This is the background story and intro for Homeworld, one of many beautifully animated cinematics one can find throghout the game. Disclaimer: I don't own Homeworld, as cool as it would be if I did.

I like how the Base Runner is pretty similar to how it was in DoK. But I feel like I seen them later on unloading at the end of the game. But can't find that... so assume I imagined it.

I just dont get it man, they could have told the replicators : "Okay please allow us to leave atlantis before you destroy it, we have no reason to fight you, in fact if you need assistance with removing the aggressive protocol Dr Mckay or any of our scientists can assist, but please allow us to leave the city, we want no aggression or war with you".
Still as brilliant as it was when it first released.
The best introduction in gaming history, to one of the best games in gaming history. Can't wait for HW3, and I hope it even comes close to the original.

Remember before the incredibly contrived and undeservedly OP Wraith were added to the story and villains actually had meaning? We could say the Asgard were OP but they were mostly neutral until the Replicators drove them to extinction/suicide. But those replicators would have never been in the Milky Way if not for the Ancients and the Ancients would not have developed them if not for the Wraith with their absurd abilities. Had the Ancients retooled from exploration to war even just long enough to defeat the Wraith, they wouldn't have needed the Replicators at all. But, even if they still made them, they could have then removed their aggression since the Wraith threat would be gone. In the end, the true villain in all of this are the writers. I love the concept of and the show of Star Gate overall but there were some bad plot holes and writing in the show at times.
Daddy issues do cause all kinds of messy problems. 😂

The Asurans seem like an effective weapon to me. The Ancients were morons.
The problem was they were evolving too quickly and were rapidly becoming uncontrollable. Hell they were still trying to destroy them several millenia later despite already being deceased. That was the reason for there destruction like computer code now the last thing anyone wanted was a machine that could create on it's own.
This was my introduction to video games as a 6 year old. I was so mesmirized by everything in this game. Of cohrse I havent finnished it but I remember atarting a new game just to see this intro and hear this music. It atarter my love for games and sci fi and art overall to be honest...
Hollywood keeps rebooting everything. This is a story worth of a movie!

The sound of the remastered version doesn't hold a candle to the original. I wish I could merge the visuals of the new one with the original sound.

now the real question is: were these Replicators the same as the bugs?
They are based on the same nanite technology. The asurans were created by the ancients. The milkway replictors were created by an unknown scientist who either found information on - or found the technology left behind (I'm guessing they found the nanite bench). The nanites can be programmed too form solid objects. Reece was an android that used the nanites as a self repair ststem. And since the nanites themselves can be programmed to form solid objects Reece programmed them to take the shape of the blocks. These blocks are like "circuit boards" formed by the nanites. So instead of the bond now being between nanites the bond is between the blocks. But the blocks use the same nanites as the asurans are made from.
The real threat to the universe are the Furlings who are still around us even today on every toddler's pillow or bookshelf. Silently waiting for someone to trigger Furmageddon. Theodore Roosevelt tried to warn us off the _teddy menace_ more than a century ago.
That blond one gets jettisoned out of a ship and since he is a machine, he doesnt suffocate from lack of oxygen in the atmosphere or freeze. He just nonchalantly and patiently floats through space with a creepy look on a face, knowing that he will eventually reach his destination.

Mars1988 la journée fut pluvieuse ,la nuit froide et seche,donc,poussieres et humidité au sol ,en region parisienne,courbevoie exactement. au bout de 3 ans a me balader de l oeil,dans une grande mer sombre avec plein de petits impacts meteoritiques ,dont un , eparse des autres et largement plus tacheté de blanc,j oriente ma lunette et branche le tube barlow x 5 et mon oculaire de 5 ;je m'apercoit que ce n'est pas un cratere mais un double cirque ,totalement lisse,plans;de la poussiere blanche part d'entre les 2 plateaux circulaires plan,mais pas avec parcimonie mais par jets,allant au dela des dents du cirque et s'accumulant dans les dents pour former un concave qui reverberait la lumiere localement.Et bien sur,au centre,il y avait 2 grandes tour comme des aiguilles,tres effilés ,je me suis demandé si c'etait des antennes,la base etait plus large qu en haut,et le bout des ombres n etait pas carré ,quelque chose l'ornait ; ca ne brillait pas comme des metaux ,mais presque comme la pierre.24 ans apres j'ai cherché ce qu il m'etait revenu a l'esprit(xfile: la verité est ailleurs;stargate;promtheus alien:dieu ne trace pas les lignes droites),apres 48h de recherches sur google ,j'ai retrouvé le calque d'une photo ,qui fut de l'exact geographie et géometrie de l ensemble a une echelle inferieur,donc bien plus zoomé.Autrefois j'avait pensé a des obelisques car ,aussi petites quelles furent,la fin des ombres des tours n'étaient pas perpendiculaire a leur fuites;c'est pour cela que la photo m'as attiré l oeil,c'etait bien 2 grands obelisques effilés par contre batis de 3 parties,le support est comme une pyramide tronquée en son sommet et retournée,des trancheés d expulsion de poussieres de 50 m de fond.J ai commandé sur amazon ,"obelisk of power"(copié collé -egypte ancienne -tesla) l'affiche du livre est saisissante mais pas du tout ce que j'ai vu,en gros je demande qu on m'aide;je veut savoir pourquoi c'etait la face au yeux de l humanité et cachés aux yeux de l humanité.Et pourquoi.

The thing that to this day stays unmatched is the sound design. The mechanical sounds, the engines, the crew chatter... This is what I'm missing in HWR. My favourite line in this intro is not the Hiigara, the we are away or the 60 years. It's the minor "What a beautiful sight". You can feel the excitement and ecstasy of these people so well...

Is it just me or did the various _Stargate_ series each express an anti-robot/android/AI sentiment? With the exception of Daniel Jackson, I can't remember *anyone* pushing back against the "It's just a machine." argument.
