Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa | Review
In this video, I cover my thoughts regarding my stay at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, which is located right across Disney Springs and close by to Epcot of the Walt Disney World Resort. While I was blown away by the overall beauty of the resort, I can’t say it’s my absolute favorite Disney Resort, as it felt too homey for me and less of a getaway. But that being said, I absolutely loved the charm and luxury this property has, and the Villas are really nice and cozy. And you can’t beat the distance to Disney Springs. Also, the Treehouse Villas actually look sick, so I will definitely need to come back for a review on it. But I got a good feel for this property and I liked it a lot.

In this video, I cover my thoughts regarding my stay at Universal Aventura Hotel, which is located right by Universal Volcano Bay of the Universal Orlando Resort. Could you Please do other Amusement/Theme park hotel reviews like Dollywood, Kings Island, etc? Please and thank you
I would, but I live in Orlando and I'm not in a place right now where I can do that yet. Thank you for the idea though!
You missed a massive fact about that mural in the atrium. It was created by Mary Blair, who was an animator, and one of Walt's favorite artists. It's original and a massive piece of Disney history. It stands 90 feet tall and covers three walls, so the scale for a mosaic piece is also impressive. You also never mentioned the famous 5 legged goat in the mural, which she reportedly put in there to remind people that that man is imperfect. This is a concept that is found in a number of cultures, including some of the Native American tribes who will do things like deliberately placing a single yellow bead in a field of white in order to acknowledge that only the divine is perfect, and man is imperfect. Another massive piece of Disney history that nobody seems to realize is there, are the murals inside Cinderella Castle. Not only are they insanely gorgeous, but they were designed by Dorothea Redmond, who was an Imagineer and a Disney Legend. She also included the likeness of Imagineers Herb Ryman and John Hench as the footman and courtier in the panels. Hired to bring her designs to life was mosaicist Hanns-Joachim Scharff. It took 18 months to complete, and the two of them created a series of artwork whose mastery and quality deserve museum level status. If you go to an after hours event, don't miss walking through the castle and viewing these while there are no crowds.
For anyone with kids that are questioning whether to stay here or not, I think it’s a great resort! My then-5 year old loved it last year! There’s plenty of kid-friendly places to eat close by, plus there’s the shared grotto pool with the Dolphin, a playground, sandy beach, evening kids club at the Dolphin, FREE Swan paddle boats, free evening outdoor movies…and there’s probably more things I’m forgetting…you get WDW deluxe perks at a moderate hotel price…and the location so close to the Boardwalk, Beach and Yacht Clubs, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios- with free boat transportation and a short walk to the Skyliner- was perfect for us!
I once had the opportunity to stay in a Studio room in the Paddock area. While it was a pleasant experience, I find that I prefer other WDW hotels. I'm eagerly anticipating the completion of your list of DVC stay reviews in the future. Between Saratoga Springs and Old Key West, which one do you favor? These two resorts are frequently compared. As a bit of interesting trivia: when DVC first launched, it was marketed as a 'home away from home,' which is why the one-bedroom and larger accommodations include a kitchen.
@@Arthur2990 despite the higher score, I prefer the Old Key West since I like the theme better, but this is personally. I rate them based on the overall experience and factors such as location or luxury
This was my FIRST WDW Hotel, stayed here in 2009, remember building a LEGO set in the dining table
Staying here for the first time in May for my birthday, got a great AP discount on a main tower theme park view. Thanks for the video!
Hard to listen to a child.
Aventura is the least themed hotel Loews Universal has to offer. It's more of an adult experience rather than made for kids. Also agree it does feel very corporate and maybe a little outdated. Thats the same reason I'm not a fan of the terra luna or stella nova. I feel like they will be the same with minimal theming and just "contemporary" theme for about 5-10 years before its outdated as well. Lol Can't wait to see the other Universal hotel reviews as you make more. Great content Caleb, I also create content here in Orlando and love theme parks and hotels. Maybe we can collab sometime in the future! 😎
Looks to corporate for me and already looks outdated.
Reviewing just hotels limits you and your channel from growing. You should expand and do restaurants and park reviews also. This is what people are searching for on You Tube when their planning their vacations. People going to Disney are looking for the best places to stay as well as places to eat and learn about the parks. Saying "Hotels" and "Resorts" is redundant, it's saying the same thing. I like your channel and think it has a lot of potential.
@robertf6343 I appreciate that you'd like to see me review restaurants and parks. However, Hotels and Resorts are my interests and expertise. I love amusement and theme parks (especially Disney), and especially roller coasters, but I'm not all about them enough to do reviews about them for a living. And I love restaurants as well, especially as someone who works in fine dining, but I'm not exactly a food critic. I loved hotels ever since I was a toddler basically, so this just seems like this is my field of interest. And for the name, there are some resorts that aren't exactly hotels, such as campgrounds (ie. Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground), Cabins, or any type of accommodation that isn't in a traditional hotel. That being said, I have been looking for a name for the channel that would be more inclusive for both hotels and resorts that aren't traditional hotel accommodations. Sorry if this was a long response, thanks for the comment, I'm glad you want to see my channel thrive, and have an amazing day!
Thank you for yet another insightful hotel review! As someone who doesn't spend much time at Universal, I find this information particularly valuable. I'm curious-does Universal categorize its resorts in a way similar to Disney? I'm interested in understanding where this hotel would fit within those categories. It seems, as you described, to be a moderate equivalent to Disney's Contemporary Resort. I'm still pondering Universal's decision not to incorporate intellectual properties into their hotel themes, unlike Disney. However, they do maintain consistency with this approach across their properties. Given the multitude of options available, I might consider staying elsewhere. Thanks once again for providing such detailed information!
Thanks for the comment. And to answer your question, Universal Orlando Resort has three different rankings for their resorts: Signature Collection, Prime Value Hotels, and Value Inn & Suites.
I'm loving these hotel reviews! I appreciate you going into the Universal side of things and not just Disney, because I'm more familiar with the latter. Before you revealed the final score I guessed 88/100 haha missed it by one point. Keep up the great work!
Camden is great!
thank you
Looking back at this, the volume settings for the voiceover was so bad for this. I apologize you all had to listen to that for this video, as if my voice wasn't already unbearable to listen to lol 😂
My family stays there mostly as we have DVC
I think the Yacht Club is the most understated of all the other deluxe resorts. Simple elegance is how I would probably describe it. I do enjoy your videos. It would be great to get your review of some of their dining options in the future. It should be noted that you can't get a bus from the Yacht Club to Epcot or Hollywood Studios. You have to walk, take the boat, or use the Skyliner to get to them.
Dude it’s “AD-Mirul” not “Ad -mirel”
I would like to add, depending on where you stay at the villas you can go out your window and see the fireworks at Epcot. It’s not the best view, but I was able to see a little bit of fireworks here and there please note you can’t hear them outside.
I've been binge watching all your Disney Resort videos. You sure know how to entertain! The humor, the editing, and the in-depth reviews. Top quality content! congrats.
I did not like it there
Happy Birthday to SWAN HOTEL if King Louis II of Bavaria The SWAN KING were alive today, he would've love the Swan Hotel and stay at the Hotel Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas Blessings and HUGS MARANATHA! 👑💜🔯🎅
first time seeing your videos, very well made! Informative with some light humour and with some of your personality added. Keep it up 🎉
yoooo its such a beautiful place!
Hey, great review! Boardwalk Villas is also one of my home resorts, and I totally agree with you. The old-world charm is just unbeatable. I do miss the old 'Penny Wise' pool design too; the new one seems a bit too generic, probably because the original design scared too many people. I noticed the room renovations were just completed. While some DVC members feel the new decor doesn't match the hotel's original theming as well as the old decor did, I think it's part of a trend where Disney hotels' room refurbishments are getting a bit simplified. Despite these changes, I still love Boardwalk Villas and plan to keep visiting until our contract expires. For those looking to book the 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom villas with cash, you’ll probably need to use a third party like DVC Rental Store since they're usually only available to rent using points. Thanks for sharing this review! It was really helpful. Looking forward to more content from you!
Thanks for this informative review. Would you recommend staying at the Swan without a car? Would the amount of walking required just to get to attractions be very taxing for the average adult? Thanks!
@Gregory721 I wouldn't say the walk distance to Epcot isn't much, as it's about the same as walking from one end of the park to another, if not less. Now as for a car, it depends on what your plans are for your vacation, but to simply answer, if you are staying one night, then it's not a big deal, but if you are staying multiple nights, then you might want to consider other means of getting to the hotel.
You can buy Dolewhip at Old Key West Resort as well
@@philcramer4317 interesting! I remember watching a video on this resort years ago saying that it's the only place you can buy it outside Adventureland, and it was made by Disney. I guess it's outdated now, I apologize if that's inaccurate. Didn't mean to mislead people
No worries, love your videos
Nice review. I hope you consider offering in future reviews a specific critique regarding noise levels inside the hotel rooms. Did you have any problems with noise from the hallways or surrounding (including above) rooms? At the end of the day, forget all the amenities, theming and restaurants; if the room can't provide for a quiet stay and a good night sleep, it's not worth it. I know you say that you didn't have issues, but incorporating the above mentioned would really make these reviews even more helpful. if you did mention what I wrote about and I somehow missed it, please accept my apologies.
@georgeg.7124 I experienced no problems with noise from the hallways or anything above my room. Thank you for your insight!
You have by far the best b roll footage of the disney resorts and it's greatly appreciated. I feel like I can only get a good grasp on what the resorts look like through your videos in particular
@sundried_grapes thank you very much for the compliment on the videography I do for the reviews. Unfortunately though, every review I made before the review on Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort are shaky, since I didn't have the stabilizer that I have now to make the footage smooth, so I apologize for that if you want to check out any of the earlier reviews
Ayy congrats on the rebrand! Here's to a great future for your channel!
Excellent review! Great script, and your camera work is terrific. I also agree with your conclusions. If you're going to WDW (aside from conventions) the themed resorts really set the tone for the vacation. Swan/Dolphin just don't have that. But they are very nice/ luxurious resorts with great architecture. Just watch out for that separate resort fee and the expensive parking (which is free at Disney resorts).
Just to provide a little more history. In the early 1980s, Disney partnered with developer Tishman to build hotels near Walt Disney World to share costs and risks. By the mid-1980s, Disney's financial situation improved, and CEO Michael Eisner wanted to compete with other convention hotels, leading Tishman to file a lawsuit fearing breach of their exclusivity deal. The dispute was settled in 1988, resulting in a joint venture to build two large hotels, including the Dolphin Resort, with Disney gaining design control and revenue share, and Tishman securing a 99-year lease on a prime location near Epcot.
I did not know that actually, very interesting to learn!
You should compare the final score to the scores of other disney hotels
@Fishman04 once I check off all the resorts at Disney, will do!
Loved this review! Great camera shots too
This is either a 20 year old video or your camera is appalling
Update: all my favorite videos that are not hotel reviews are officially deleted from this channel and now uploaded on my second channel. From now on, this channel is all about the hotel reviews. Stayed tuned for the next one, it will be coming out soon!
I stayed up Pop century in 2022 I had a preferred room and I really liked it 2024 I stayed at all star movies and I like them both and I'll come back
Not every shot needs to have panning. There is way too much motion going on; it's legitimately difficult to watch. If you have some kind of crippling panning addiction, at least pan more slowly to reduce the extreme disorientation. Other than that, it's a nice video.
@SPCH-b6r thank you for the feedback. Not sure if the panning shots will be too fast for my next two reviews as they are already filmed, but I will keep that in mind next time I stay at a property and film it.
I agree, especially when the shots go from pan-left to a pan-right, then left, then right. Yikes. Difficult to watch.
Do what you feel like you need to do. Keep up the good work.
Great review. Thanks.
Same
I don't know why, but this popped into my algorithm
I'm surprised your reviews don't get more views. I've seen several disney review content channels, and you are doing an excellent job. It is especially good that you think out your review and seem to almost script it. Much more coherent, to-the-point, and interesting than a lot of content our there. keep it up!
@johncordani3527 I script all of my videos actually for the reviews, since I'm not one to just speak from the top of my head, but thank you for the compliment! I'm not really upset that I don't get more views since I think that keeps me humble and I don't like to envy others and I like to just trust the process. There are also things in life that I value more than success on UA-cam now (such as love and family), so that's also another thing. I'm still gonna strive for my goals, but I'm trying to maintain a life outlook that will benefit me spiritually. Once again, thank you for the comment!
It's great to see more in-depth information about the Universal Orlando hotel. As someone who spends more time at Disney, it's refreshing to learn about the details of Universal's offerings. How would you compare the experience of staying at a non-Universal hotel versus one of their entry-level on-property hotels? In your opinion, is staying on property worth the extra expense in this scenario?
@Arthur2990 the extra cost is worth it depending on how many people, how long you are staying, and what time of the year, assuming it's at a signature collection hotel. I haven't stayed at any of their entry level hotels yet, but I would guess it's more in tune with the overall experience with Universal, especially with its perks.
Cockroach gross !!
Yeah, it was not ideal to say the least. At least Disney made it up for me
I’m never shocked to see a bug in any resort in Florida.
Great vid cuz this is home resort haven’t stayed at Dvc part yet
The Beach Club Resort is incredibly popular among visitors. Nestled along the picturesque bay and in close proximity to the world-renowned Epcot, it offers an unparalleled experience for many. This location is particularly appealing to those who have a penchant for food and wine, as it offers a rich culinary journey. Additionally, its position near the lake ensures that guests have a diverse range of dining options to choose from, making their stay even more enjoyable.
I’d do the yacht club next if I were you
Thanks for another entertaining and informative review. Did you end up with a reference towards beach club or boardwalk in the end? Both seem great options in terms of location and theming. Did you think they were pretty similar?
They were both pretty similar, but I prefer the BoardWalk because I think it's nicer and it's more nostalgic for me
@@themeparkhotelreviews thanks. But then you didn’t go to the pool at beach club. One thing that struck me was the lack of decent quick service choices at both in comparison to other Disney resorts. Are they any better now?
@richardbrice9542 I'm not very knowledgeable about the choices in dining, so I can't really say much but it seems it's pretty average in comparison. I also don't swim very much anymore. Pretty sure I should more often though 😅
It’s our favourite Disney resort because of the sheer amount of space! The rooms are unmatched for square footage and to me that’s luxury. Plus it’s a very quiet chilled place. I think they could build a second hospitality area with another bar and another dining option but I doubt they would. Nice review
