I saw Louisiana Tech's Band perform "Neck" in the 4th Quarter, and it rallied their team to beat our UNT Eagles in the 4th quarter. We just stopped and watched, it was mesmerizing!

Black LSU graduate here AND huge fan of the Human Jukebox, and I just want to say this band footage is pitiful but the arrangement is okay at best. It stays true to the actual song in some ways by highlighting the woodwinds, but it is a bit "flat" overall as someone else said. I was drunk enough at the games to dance along to this song, but I knew in my heart it was so whack. Nothing gets the blood rushing like SU's version of Neck.

that is our favorite song in our band we play it all the time for football games. we have an unwritten code of rules made up by our band director and one of the rules was "don't mess up Mr. Aucoin's favorite part" so for the christmas concert when we had to lay his favorite song, we pretended that the timpani was out of tune, and made Mr. Aucoin look bad on purpose then we all busted out playing neck so we could give him his present. everybody including him loved it lol.

Well actually SU band don't need to be nor do we want to be like lsu because we're known all around the world. Hint, SU BAND is The Human Jukebox, and the slogan is "Often Imitated but Never Duplicated"! Neck is suppose to be a song that is fast and upbeat not mellow. And I have a feeling that lsu was trying to say what is said at SU when we play the song. The only thing about that is, our alumni that's of age be saying that which is why the students can easily say it; and! our student section is on the other side of the band. I could be wrong but I doubt that I am. However, the song belongs to no school. Lsu sound ok but y'all seriously sound flat. It's just that HBCUS play it better. Maybe because we been playing it for more than 10 yrs and each HBCU has their own way of playing it. For the person who think all hbcus are SWAC, u seriously sound retarded. Only the schools in TX, LA, MS, AK, & AL are SWAC. Just like you have pwi's in the big ten we have others too. The SWAC & MEAC are just the most popular among HBCUS just like the sec among pwis. I'm not a fan of Lsu and I am an Alumni of SU, but don't think I don't like pwis because Alabama and South Carolina are my schools. I just call it how I see it. Not to compare university/college bands, but the Brother Martin High School Crusader Marching Band plays this, the snares do a similar cadence, but you should see our bass drummers throwing those drums around during this piece!! Doesn't appear to be enough room in this set-up for them to do anything.

Both Alabama and South Caroline have consistently had some of the worst college marching bands for years. LSU is easily a top ten marching band.
