    Hi Michael, trust you're well. I have 2 of these AutoPilots for my FPV Planes. On one of them the GPS receiver has stopped working. Do you know where I could buy a new one? or do you know of a compatible unit. I tried to use a Beitian BN-220 GPS but although this fired up and got a GPS fix it was not compatible with the BGL-6G-AP. The red light just stayed on all the time... Regards, Pete

I have done similat things on a old Hobby King transmitter that didn't have a 3 pos. Your transmitter will need to be programmable to ensure the switch output is in the rage of the modes that you want. Cheers Michael

One of his planes had the full set, Ailerons, Flaps, Gear and all of it was setup on a DX8 G2 with no conflicts. I did a few videos for him, but they are not listed. I think if you use this link - ua-cam.com/video/bzzRdmjNsaQ/v-deo.html you should see the physical setup of the receiver and connections to the flight controller and servos mocked up. If you use this link - ua-cam.com/video/bzzRdmjNsaQ/v-deo.html you should see a detailed explanation of the radio setup. The videos are in context of setting up someones gear and explaining what I have done, so you might have to go through some details not pertinent to the flaps, but the details are all in there somewhere. Hi Michael, Congratulations on a very well presented review. I presume from your video that the unit's stabiliser program is set and cannot be programmed. Also I have a Radian XL with the AR636 receiver. Should I replace it with a non-stabiliser rx, or will they work together.

    • @madrc6667
      @madrc6667 4 роки тому

      Hi John, the stabilisation is in effect Auto Level. It will limit roll and pitch as well as return the plane to level flight when you take your hands off the stick. There is an adjustment on the unit that increases or decreases the sensitivity of the auto level. When you are looking at stabilisation from something like your AR636, they will allow you to fly unlimited but reduce the affect from the wind. They will work together, but I'd suggest programming your radio to have all the modes seperate. Off - Stabilisation - Auto Level - Return to Home. Cheers Michael

    Hi Michael, Though you presented this video in 2015, it is still valuable. I am a modell pilot that has learned flying by doing and crashing. Still using my second 'We Can Fly' modell, that is held together with glue and a lot of tape. The first one was beyond repair after again another severe crash. I was really fed up with crashing and discovered the BGL Installed it in my plane and started flying again. And now I have made a lot of wonderfull flights without any damage!! Also made a lot of SIM hours that turned out usefull. My learning plan is to make as much hours as weather permits to become ultimately comfortable and with the plane at height, switch to the unassisted mode. The 'RTH' option also works perfect. I also programmed 'RTH" in the 'Fail Safe' mode of my x-mitter. Have tested it when on the ground and works fine also. Best regards, Jan Willem Netherlands

    Hi Michael, I'm having problems getting the AP to work correctly on my FPV wing. The unit was tested and works correctly on a conventional airframe (Bixler) but when activated on the wing, the model drops into a rolling dive. It stabilises immediately when the RTH or Stab mode is deactivated. All connections are as per the instructions. The AP has been initialised. The elevons move correctly when the Stab mode is ground-tested. Have you (or anyone else) encountered this problem? Any suggestions? Cheers! Paul.

      Sounds like the surfaces are reversed. On the ground. Roll the left wing down left surface should go down. And vice versa. It is easy to get confused. @madrc6667 5 років тому

      Hi, this is not correct. There is no need for the transmitter or receiver to 'have support for GPS'. Hi there Mike, I do appreciate and enjoy your BGL videos. I have a wee problem trying to set up a flying wing /BGL on my taranis plus. Part of the problem is that I'm not sure what to expect regarding the elevon surface movements I have done the initialising, and then the flying wing switch selection S1 on and S2 off configuration. Originally, using the Taranis wizard for the wing setup, the Mixer showed the ele 50% ail 50%. BUT the BGL says eliminate all mixes, which I did. So now, having clicked the BGL set button, I have succeeded in setting up a 3 way switch on my Taranis for "normal" and this is working. Switch to level flight, and I have control with the sticks, and partial with the surfaces, BUT. when I tilt the BGL sideways, only one surface compensates, and when I tilt forward or rearwards, only the other surface compensates. I was expecting to have both surfaces working together as the elevator and in opposition for the ailerons. I do have a normal plane set up on my taranis and the BGL is working perfectly. I'm not an expert with the Taranis, but have managed to set up a dozen or so models directly using the TX menus. I wonder if you can help me please Regards Bruce

    Hello, I would like to say that I do not speak English so I'm sorry for the language ..... anyway, I have a zagi wing and also a stabilizer of these, same RX and same radio .... my question is: the term RTH means "return to home "? how could this be possible without a controller + gps?

    • @madrc6667
      @madrc6667 5 років тому

      Hi Franklin, I am not sure I completely understand your question, but this unit does have a Return To Home (RTH) feature. It does have a GPS and a flight controller. Bigaole do also manufacture a different product for stabilisation only. It looks similar, but does not have a GPS and no RTH feature. Does that help? Cheers Michael

    can u show how to set up failsafe on flysky i6 and bigaole gps ??

    • @madrc6667
      @madrc6667 6 років тому

      Ho Mitch, sorry I don't have a FlySky i6, but there are quite a few good vids on how to set-up the failsafe. ua-cam.com/video/LXTEXqR_ghI/v-deo.html I would say that basically, make sure you set the channel you have your mode on set to engage the RTH mode. The throttle is an option depending on your plane type and safety preferences. I have a couple of my planes set with 40%-50% throttle, but one of my gliders is set with no throttle. I hope that helps. Cheers Michael

    • @madrc6667
      @madrc6667 6 років тому

      G'day. I have heard of some people splicing an OSD into the supplied GPS. But I don't recommend modifying the manufacturers product. There are no ports that you can use for the OSD, so you have to cut into the cable. In hope that helps. Cheers Michael

      all4-adventure's I have never tested it with any other RC vehicle, but I suppose in theory the aileron channel may work to direct the boat if connected to the rudder.

    Hi Michael, hope you can help with my Bigaole issue! I have the unit installed in a Bixler 3 and the stabilize and off modes work fine but when I place the unit in the TRH position it initially appears to start a turn toward home maintaining altitude in just a few seconds the plane will jump to the opposite direction and start heading down. It does not correct, I have to turn off the RTH to save the plane. In checking the plane on the ground in the RTH position all seems to be correct. I'm using this unit with a Taranis x9D plus and a L9R receiver. Any guidance or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

    • @madrc6667
      @madrc6667 6 років тому

      G'day Wayne, sounds like the gains are too high and it is going into a feedback loop. You usually only notice this in autonomous flight of the RTH. Try to dial the aileron gain back a little and try again. Cheers Michael

    • @WayneR3804
      @WayneR3804 6 років тому

      HI Michael Tried your suggestion of lowering the gain but unfortunately got the same results. In trying the different gains every flight the plane banked sharply to the right and headed down. I have to switch out of the RTH position to save the plane. Any other suggestions? Really appreciate your helpl.

    • @madrc6667
      @madrc6667 6 років тому

      G'day Wayne, Well, that is weird for sure. The auto level and RTH are essentially using the same control in the unit. It is unusual that it will work fine in the auto level mode, but not in the RTH. I would suggest re-running the set-up making sure you didn't miss a step. What sort of plane? are you using the same amount of throttle? How low (close to the centre) did you get the gain?

    • @WayneR3804
      @WayneR3804 6 років тому

      Hi Michael I'm using the unit in a Bixler 3 and I did exactly as you recommended ie started from the beginning to be super careful not to miss any steps including resetting the home location at our field this morning. The stabilizer itself works fine other than restricting the bank angle but I understand that is normal but again when I place the plane in the RTH position it banks hard to the right and heads down. I even tried it at a very high altitude to see if it would pull out and level off but nope it continued to head to the ground. FYI I am using a taranis X9D Plus and I have set it up exactly according to your you tube video. The GPS does go from solid blue to flashing blue, do you think I could have a bad GPS. It's now become a challenge to solve the issue! Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    • @madrc6667
      @madrc6667 6 років тому

      Ken McNaughton I think that you may have to rotate the elevator gain potentiometer. If you do, you will also need to reverse the input of the elevator input in your radio.

    Mad RC. Great video. I have been looking for a good economical FC and it looks like this might be the one. Question? Can you set the RTL altitude? I plan to use 0% throttle at failsafe on my AWS28. Thanks I have subscribed.

    • @madrc6667
      @madrc6667 6 років тому

      Hi Jason. The altitude that the plane is at when the RTH is engaged is maintained (as best as possible given the airspeed). I have my ASW28 set-up with no throttle on the fail safe too. There is a tonne of good information on my RC Groups thread too - www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2417656-Bigaole-BGL-6G-AP-Auto-Pilot-System-With-GPS-and-Return-To-Home Cheers Michael

    Hi nice video! I have a plane which has already a 6G/3D stabilizer integrated. Do you think I can add the BGL-6G-AP to get the RTH function? Can this module interfere with the existing stabilizer of my plane?

    • @madrc6667
      @madrc6667 6 років тому

      G'day, yes the two stabilisers would interfere with each other. But if you have enough switches could set it up to have one on is certain modes and the other on when needed in different modes. So to get the rth function you would need to program the radio to switch off the other stabiliser when you select the rth mode. And make sure to switch off in failsafe too. Cheers Michael

    I installed this same unit on my q trainer 3d printed plane I went over the connections 3 times and when I tilt the plane up my elevator goes up when I tilt it down the elevator goes down opposite of what it's supposed to ? What did I do wrong or is there an adjustment? Thanks

      My mistake I was using a Transmitter that only had 2 position switches , switched over to my taranis x9dplus followed your video to set it up set failsafe to half throttle using rth mode and works great . Could not have done it without your videos . Thanks
