Aaron's Simple Life
Приєднався 16 чер 2016
This is a vlog about my simplified life: what I've tried, what works for me, what doesn't work for me, new things I'm trying and my goals.
Are you trying to simplify your life? Into minimalism? Or trying to be frugal? Interested in the low to no waste lifestyle? Planning on getting into the nomad scene? Stick with me as I try on new ways of doing things to see if they fit.
My life is an experiment and you get to watch.

Переглядів 16 тис.5 років тому
Here is my current (2019) method of creating a cut and fold combination book. It's done in the back of my pickup while camping with my dog, Ben. Here's the link to my previous video about adding color to your book folding projects: ua-cam.com/video/NSkqdvFYrBM/v-deo.html

Here's a tutorial on how I add color to the front of a book prior to making a bookfolding project. It realy makes the designs pop!

The premier episode of my new series I'm calling "Footnotes." I interview people while I wash and oil their feet. I ask uplifting questions and give people one on one attention in a way that helps them open up to me in a different manner than they have before.
Beautiful earrings 😍
Very interesting… beautiful sights
What a great idea. Makes the books look so much more interesting.
I am new, I haven't folded any book yet. For xombi fold are rhe corners always 90deg?
Can you share a folded book after painting i5 so one can see the effect?
"Pigment of your imagination" love it!
They’re all beautiful 💞
Excellent ❤
I learn some new every day about bookfolding, ty Where can I get those colors?
You mention that you use your phone for the pattern. Do you have a special program or app on your phone?
Thanks🎉
Thanks I had some mica left over from my soap making !
Great tips! Looking forward to new videos.
I love bookfolding and you gave a great lesson.❤
How do you know to fold the top and bottom corners back vs cutting them? I'm am totally new to this and scared to try for fear of not understanding the combination fold and cut. When and where to fold and when or where to cut.
I've not seen anyone cut the corners. Just fold the corners. They create the tapered edge across the top othe the book. If you cut them off the pages next to them will lean into the void you create.
Thank you for your thorough description of precisely how to work. Especially thanks for the tips on the incra ruler. The top bar is sooooo heavy…I find it makes it cumbersome to use. Take care. Loved the pix at the end as well. So beautiful. ☺️
Thank you so much! I’m very excited to try this. Take care. 😊
Question… the added glue doesn’t make the pages stick together?
If I’d waited one minute longer my question would have been answered. But I’m impatient 😂
@@paulacoley6278 No worries Paula.
Thank you for the idea!!!
Your holding tool is genius.
thank you.
Thank you. Beautiful.
What are you using to hold your pages back?
Just a strip of one inch elastic that I had laying around.
I've been looking for a video on this subject. Now I found one. Thank you!
You're welcome Jeannie.
Thank you for sharing !!
No problem 😊
Hi Aaron, thank you for sharing how you do combination cut and fold. I've never done it and really appreciate your explanation. You're giving me confidence to give it a try! I really enjoyed your video. Loved your Yorkie in the background too.
Thanks for your kind words. His name is Ben.
Thank you for this video. Very simple directions.
Glad it was helpful!
If you wanted to add color to a 180 fold would you do the initial folds then add the color to the front edge, or would the process be different?
If you were to add color to a 180 fold would you do all the initial 180 folds and then paint the front edge? Or would the process be different?
Meifwa- I don't know. I've never done a 180 fold.
I would imagine so. Just hold the book extra tight while you paint.
wow I loved your last suggestion... minute 20 of your video... I have been folding since 2018 and it's the first time I heard a suggestion about that problem... awesome... thank you for your advice... very helpful...
Your welcome Sandra. Thank you for your kind words.
Thank You. This was just what I was looking for. I wasted a lot of money trying to recreate this. I have all these supplies at home!
Your welcome.
I would of liked to see a finished book .
Enjoyed this. Will definitely try it
wow - that really looks awesome and I looked at the finished product - wow! - going to try it and try too the tip below looking up eye shadow instead of the mica - there are a few MMF books that I would like to try out with this - so hard to get a good finish on them - this might be my answer - thank you for posting this
How do you make the pattern?
I use a pattern generator that I paid for. Google "book folding pattern generator." There's more than one.
I really appreciate your thorough yet simple explanation. Concise and enjoyable.
Thanks Courtney!
You might be able to use eye shadows in place of the expensive micas. You can get them at dollar tree for like, um a dollar. Eye shadow has mica in it and I use it in crafting in place of mica frequently. Just a thought.
Thanks for the tip Anita.
great tip - I am going to look for that - i wonder if it comes in black lol hmmmm
I used eyeshadow it worked great to color it but was kind of messy when cutting it got all over my fingers which lead to it on everything else, any tips on this?
I'd like to see the book with the folded design on it.
Here's a link to a video on Facebook with that color facebook.com/343596489672308/posts/363484987683458/
Awesome thank you
You're welcome Noreen.
Hi Aaron, thanks for this tip, I tried it and it worked really well. I also tried it with watercolour and that works well too, although there isn’t the shine that the Mica has.
Thanks Sharon!

No Saumya. But thanks for asking.
Happy to be your first Aaron! Can't wait to see where this takes you!
