Via Francigena: An Italian Pilgrimage
Via Francigena is a 2200 km pilgrimage route that goes from Canterbury UK to Rome.
This past spring, we had an opportunity to walk a small portion of the Italian route to Rome through the Tuscan region, a 550 Km journey.
We started the walk from Sarzanna. Our route continued onwards into the Tuscan country, Bolsena Lake district and finally arrive at the eternal city of Rome.

    • @caminodennis
      @caminodennis 12 днів тому

      Use a travel app such as Google Map or Rome to Rio to see the best options to travel from Las Vegas to Oviedo, Spain. From Madrid, you can either take a bus, train, or flight to Oviedo the beginning point of this Camino. Beware that the closest airport near Oviedo is called Aeropurto de Austurias, a reginal airport. There are express buses that take you into the Oviedo from that airport, very easy and quick.

      From Sarzanna to Rome is about 22 days of walking, average about 20 km per day. We took rest days at Lucca and Siena. We followed the stages from the Cicerone guide book, mostly anyway.

      @caminodennis Рік тому

      When an Albergue can house 25 pilgrims, but there are only 2 shower stalls for everyone, it could be a little wait. However, all the Albergues that we have been to are all come with washroom facilities. Some are better then others of course. Some rustic ones won't have electricity, so no hot water, but those are rare. It is all part of the Camino experience. Imagine an Albergue has no electricity, only light would be candle lights, that is something awesome to experience.

    • @caminodennis
      @caminodennis Рік тому

      Best way is to call ahead to speak to your host to see if they can accommondate one's Vegan diet. Please keep in mind that you will be travelling in the rural part of France and their culinary tradition runs deep. Be flexible is the key. You will need to speak some French when talking to the host about your requst (use translation apps). Bring your own food if you can purchase them ahead of time if all options failed.
