They've used this clip in many a tribute video. Donald dropped Peggy like a hot potato, when he heard Gloria Jean sing 😅. Truth told, they actually had eyes for each other and never knew it until later in their careers. Cute story. Nice video clip!

This is Betty's best musical. Even better than ANNIE GET YOUR GUN. The songs and orchestrations are excellent, the cast attractive, direction brisk and Betty is at the top of her game.

It's too bad Betty thought she couldn't be replaced when she was so on top of her game here. She could have made several more really fine films after this one. Walking out on her contract because the studio wouldn't let her husband direct her films was disastrous. By then she had already made too many enemies with her temperament. She once asked Dorothy Lamour why nobody liked her. Lamour commented, "honey, you can't treat people the way you do and expect them to like you".

I am not American, and I don't live in America. But the old America, its spirit and what its people dreamed of captured in the good old movies that I love made me wish (when I was growing up) that I lived in another time and place. 30 years on, I may not wish that any longer, but I miss feeling all that. What is churned out just can't match the golden age. Thank goodness for video efforts like this and all the gems we find on youtube!

Donald and Peggy were too much! Mister Big is a wonderful showcase for both of them. Wish they'd kept on making movies forever. As Peggy said in her eulogy after Donald died in 2003 (she died the following year) 'Why did you trade me for that damn mule?' They were really pretty brilliant together... thanks for posting this!
