Troutvet Custom Baits LLC is a small business out of Southern California dedicated to my father Tom (Seabees Veteran). My Dad used to take me fishing growing up in the 80s and 90s to the local lakes.
Since then I (Paul) have developed a passion for fishing and have seen fishing techniques evolve over the years. I make quality baits designed to catch fish not fishermen.
Whether you are after that personal best double digit toad or looking to have fun catching fish we have you covered. Pick up some of our baits and start making memories out there on the water.

Eastern Sierra Big Trout and Beautiful Brookies | Mini Jigs, Trailers and Stingers (Wide Open Bite)
Great trip out to the Eastern Sierras with some good friends. Nice 8.7 lb rainbow caught at Silver Lake on the new Troutvet Custom Baits Orange & Gold J Bug Mini Jig. We caught and released hundreds of Trout. We fished many Lakes and found where the Brook Trout were hiding.

Another successful trip to the mudhole. All fish caught on Troutvet Custom Baits. Fish were caught on double drop shot and mini jigs. Minnows were 2 1/4" using the double drop shot with #8 Owner mosquito hooks. The mini jigs are 1 1/2" long. My friend landed a nice toad on one of our mini jigs.

Do the fish have to be a specific size to keep?
@@O_Vibe6 Yes, the trout limit is 4 at Panguitch and you can only keep two cutthroat or tiger trout under 15 inches and only one can be longer than 22 inches. We were just catching and releasing.

great video. i keep getting skunked when i go on mondays, dropshots only worked for me on one hook up with a catfish lol. other hook up it popped off. dunno what im doing wrong. maybe hook size is off?
Hi thanks for the compliment. I use size #8 owner mosquito hooks with a slow retrieve and a 1/16 oz drop shot weight. Keep grinding you’ll find them. 🤙

Which Minnows Would You Recommend From Your Website?
Hello, If you are just starting out I would recommend one of the minnow kits. Those minnows work in all water conditions. Also any color can get hot at any given time so it’s always good to have some bright, dark and some natural colors. 🎣

What rod do you use?
I usually use the phenix dragon fly ultralight both 9ft and 8 ft fast action. It’s my personal favorite for drop shot.

What line do you use ?
Hi in this video phenix iron feather braid 4 lb test. And seaguard invizix 4 pound flouro leader 7 ft long. I’m switching over to RaysfishingUSA nano braid. The 5 lb test nano braid has a .05 mm diameter which is smaller than any 4 lb braid in the market that I know of.

Question for trout fishermen, would you say there are some lakes that do better jigging and drop shotting and others that are bait and wait? I'm new to trout fishing and trying to figure this out. Thanks!
for sure, but it really all depends. trout can be really picky. if your in SoCal area powerbait and night crawlers(bait) are kinda of a safe spot but for more of a challenge you can use minnows and jigs.
