Assembling the NCASE M2 - “Grater”
Переглядів 11 тис.Місяць тому
This video shows my experience putting the SFF NCASE M2 "Grater" together in the Vertical GPU Orientation step by step. At the time of recording and uploading this video, the information & topics discussed in the video were accurate. IMPORTANT: Since this video has been uploaded Ncase has updated some parts of their website and has been looking into the QC issues. Time stamps: Intro 00:01 Step ...
The good, bad, and ugly? NCASE M2 "GRATER" - SFF PC case

would this fit a noctua nh15 + an atx psu 😂
it can fit an ATX PSU i don't know if it can do both of those at the same time though, it does support up to 168mm tall CPU Coolers
The Grater version is slick, bummer it doesn't have any front panel I/O. Thanks for sharing!
So how does the default look like when it comes to the io? Is there an awkward gap or is it nicely filled at least
@@kailron for the most part the MB I/o shield fills up most of the space and when the GPU is in the horizontal orientation it takes up a majority of the space left over leaving maybe two slots worth of space, now when you do a VGPU orientation you have to remove the GPU mount and only have the GPU lock bar attached to the m2 frame, once you lower your MB there will be space at the top and bottom.
Great video! Is the power button on the back? I don’t see any usb hub or audio port like the non grater version.
@@etwisabeta yea this variant only has the power button
They gave filters with magnets on the sides with the M1 back then.
You are funny af. I thoroughly enjoyed your pain 😂 Subbed!
@@QualityScrub thank you !
Great vid. If you don’t have a 3D printer, could the mesh work for filling those rear panel gaps?
@@NeuralVoidSolutions no because there won’t be anything to hold it up unless your willing to do some diy holes in the frame but I wouldn’t recommend that. Luckily the GPU and MB I/O will cover most of the empty space
Dust is a compromise for going SFF.
So why you got grater one?
@@Donbros air flow, this only has to do with the front panel and this was b4 I know what I know now i also just liked the way it looked
FYI - they do tell you in the Spec list for the "Grater" that there is no front i/o. Though, not sure if that was there at the time of filming.
@@IamMotionMedia since making these videos NCASE has definitely been on top of making things much clearer on their website. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was one of those changes, Good to know though
shjt video ever
Great vid, thanks ! Thinking about getting this, or the nude case Modable Sys8. If you'd ever test this one, would be awesome :)
really useful video for anyone looking to buy the m2. good format and easy to follow
1:44 That effect is called a Moiré pattern. Wikipedia has a great article about it with more examples and images.
Nice one Champ.
Good video
Is that mean you have to unscrew the side panel everytime you want to turn on the PC with this front panel???
Where is the power button for the grater? In the case foot?
@@lolcatmaroon at the back 1:06
How are you suppose to get rid of that big hole in the back? 3d print?
yea they have 3d print files on their website for that, it works pretty well. Most of it will also be taken up by i/o shield of MB and GPU I'm sure
I thought you were serious.
Don't try it. I've used stickers+magnetic air filter with Ncase m1. It's just not worth it. Because sff case is so small, just blowing the dust out takes less time than actually washing the air filters. And you can't get positive air pressure with that amount of mesh anyway, so dust will still be sucked in.
Wtf how do u setup rgb?
Hey it was a LED panel from Savage that I had shine through. You can’t see it because of the camera angle.
The finished case when the RGB have that teal color at 9:32 looks so damn good.
I like the orange color 9:44
I ordered this case and was thinking the same thing. Would be interesting to see a comparison between with and w/o filters in terms of temps, noise levels and maybe even performance.
Lol, aluminum isn’t magnetic bro.
Whoops, I was today years old when I realized this lol
The magnets would obviously not stick to the NCASE for the same reason that magnets don’t stick to a beer can, because it’s made of aluminum
Whoops, I was today years old when I realized this lol. Good to know, cheers
If you have positive pressure, you don't need to cover every single hole, just cover your intake. If any dust gets in, you actually want th dust to come out, so covering exhaust doesn't make much sense.
True, Tbh I have 3 dogs and my desk is by a window. Just having the case sit there I noticed dust was already in there it would be a problem for me when my system is off and just siting there, so if you have a situation similar to me this might help.
You can't have positive pressure with this much mesh
"You can't have positive pressure with this much mesh," Of course you can. The components restrict air velocity and pressure builds up. The mesh isn't an open void, so again, pressure builds up. It's only marginally higher pressure but that's all you need. Configure fans so that more air enters than leaves. And only where it enters needs filters
I planned to do the same on my M2, and I am going to use black "nylon mesh gauze" 100 or 80. I used that fully cover every panel of my T1 and its work very well. Btw, what is RGB led you used in the case.
Hey I might do the same, the nylon mesh is probably better for airflow so I’ll add that to my testing. The RGB was a LED panel from Savage that I had behind the case to shine through
What parts are you planning to put in your build?
@@Kokinkun if it fits maybe a 5090+ 9 285k, cooler master v1100
@@dcbycawhy are you getting intel 285k instead of new amd one, just asking
@ at this point I can’t choose amd is definitely the better choice dollar for dollar at this point for gaming but I’m curious about any updates to the platforms
Hard to justify anything outside the Ryzen X3D chips if you're mainly gaming with them. Even if you choose the older Intel gen (13/14th series), you'll have to deal with the potential instability issues on top of having more demanding cooling needs while performing worse. Feels bad if you're an Intel fan right now since Arrow Lake has so many regressions.
my guy.
can you mount the PSU in the front with the fan intaking from the front?
Yes, but depends on your parts and fitment
Very helpful and I’m living for these various angles🫶🏽!
Thank you, glad I could help
You've got some great visuals and editing bro. I think the filters will restrict airflow quite a lot so I'm keen to see how your tests go. It's a great looking case.
Thank you, it might but I’m definitely going to test temps and airflow. Either way some kind of filtering is going to be beneficial I have the grater which might help because the front should be clear of any obstructions.
I planned on doing this as well. Already have the mesh and waiting on the M2 to deliver in the next few days. Also aluminum is not magnetic. I thought about using double sided tape but i like your method a lot better.
It’s deff a cleaner look, and you are right about that lol
The gap btween the front and top panel 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That f…. Gap between the toppanel and front. Shit quality
how do you turn it on?
there is a power button at the back 8:38. The "Grater" variant doesn't come with any other i/o besides that.
@@dcbyca oh that button at the back is pretty sad
Much better and informative than Ncase's own videos. I ordered and received round black one and that feet thing threw me off. It is not a beginner's case. So newbies out there, think twice. Pros: premium material, small package. Cons: lacks quality control, instruction or lack there of, after done with vertical gpu mount, backside has a lot of uncovered space i.e. ugly.
For the back there are 3D print files to help cover it up for free if you have access to a 3D printer, and it would also be cool if there was a cnc plate of some kind for the opening tbh
I'm seeing WAY too many people (on NCASE's discord and Reddit) saying their flatpacked packages arrived with missing parts and NCASE hasn't responded to their support tickets. This is beyond concerning for a $200 "premium" case.
I was missing the extra cost feet from my package and it took a good while to receive them. It was a packing error on their part and wish it had been handled more quickly than it was. I did receive them several weeks after I first contacted them.
I loved this video because I want to build a pc one day so knowing how to build a case gets me one step closer
@@Snakepeaz-animation I’m glad I could help
@@dcbyca Hey, can you drop the link or name of the screw replacement kit you used for the case feet screws and washer?
@@Athasin PC screw kit used 6:26 a.co/d/3eyL3OJ
@@dcbyca Thanks!
most of the time, PC cases come ready to go, this sort of case is just for the enthusiast that wants more customisation for their case and enjoy the assembly of the case itself
Only problem with Ncase is that they delayed the M2 Silver for so long that it just got boring waiting for it and hype is nearly gone for everyone.
yea, I feel that, luckily we are all waiting for new PC components to drop that's why I'm being a bit more patient, but with the time I waited to get it, I was super disappointed when I found out the GPU lock bar was missing. It would have been cool if they had a gunmetal or grey-ish color as another finish option
@@dcbycaYk 5080 and 5090 will probably not be available till march. Personally I am buying a filler for the time being.
@@dcbyca They've just released the white colour FYI.
@@AlphaConde-qy7vi a white m2 isn't for me lol, it appears that option is only for the M2 Round variant on their website. I was really digging the sliver and black plus My current PC in the Lian li o11 Air Mini is white
I completely agree, the grater is the version to get... But it is not in stock... And is hard to know which bracket use for the vertical mount, the feets, which are obviously too small 😢😢
Hey @DCBYCA, Thank you for your honest feedback and apologies for any confusion. We’re more than happy to assist with your issue: 1. The case feet video sent is a standard part of CS support process. But like you said in the video, this part is not designed for the M2, so it's in user DIY territory. To make it more clear for others, we have updated the description for this product as well. 2. Regarding the missing GPU Locker Bar, we’ve had instances where customers had difficulty locating parts in their packages. That’s why we ask for photos-so our warehouse team can help identify any missing items. Please get in touch with Customer Service and we will take care of this :) Thank you again for the support!
@@ncase_official hey guys, I did contact CS as soon as I noticed something was off. I thoroughly looked for the part in the original packaging b4 that and even looked behind my couch it definitely isn’t in there. It was mentioned that this Thursday would be the day something can be done, and I quote "will record your information and issue and forward this to the product team, we normally deal with replacement every Thursday so we may get back to you by next week."- end quote. I don't know if that means the part will be shipped out or not but I will definitely follow up on Thursday.
@@dcbyca We’ve checked our records and believe we’ve found your ticket-did you reach out to us on October 18th? We typically ship replacements every Thursday and aim to resolve issues within a week. Could you kindly send us another email to confirm your information? We’ll make sure to ship your missing part this Thursday (October 23rd). We recently restocked some Silver Grater M2, so the delay may have been due to a miscommunication or a temporary warehouse shortage. Thank you for your patience!
@@ncase_official hey I reached out on Thu, Oct 17, 6.45 PM. I also sent that email just now. Thanks for looking into this
@@dcbyca Hey we've shipped your replacement as we promised this week. Please check with CS for further notice.
Did you contact the support about the missing parts? (was it only the GPU secure bracket that was missing?) Are they gonna send the missing parts out to you or what's the deal there? Considering this specific case myself for whent he new X3D cpu:s drop, but these types of issues makes me a bit wary...
Yes, I did contact them this past Thursday as soon as I realized it was missing, it was the only thing missing as far as I noticed but it's still a pretty major part being that I can't mount a GPU securely without it. I also mentioned the screws for the feet didn't match the manual. Their solution was a YT video about how to use those screws and I had to send pictures of my case in an email. They claim they will send it this Thursday coming up, but I don't know how long it will take till I get it. So I have to be extra patient. The customer service person said "They will let the product team know"
yea it just sucks when you waited like 2 months just to receive your product with a QC issue. Imagine if I had my parts I would have to wait more time to complete it...smh
Shouldn't one radiator/fan bracket be included? If you got the radiator mount, shouldn't you have two?
yes, there is one that is included but I got another one just to have cooling options for the side. It was a no-brainer since I was getting the feet and bracket for $20 off with the coupon they gave me for the shipping delay.
@@dcbyca Good to know. I was just asking in case since you showed only one when I made the comment.
excellent video dude! I think it would have been great to put different sections, the good bad and ugly, like the title for example
