Master Firecore is a UA-cam channel with the purpose of being an archive of footage from ROM Hacks and mods.
Requests in the comments section are welcome, but the criteria for whether a ROM hack belongs in this channel is the following:
1) Do I like it?
2) Does this hack hold significance for the Sonic ROM hacking scene?
3) Is there a chance footage of this ROM Hack will be reused?
If the answer to either of these is yes, then a ROM hack is fit to be on the channel!
Playthroughs may make light use of tool assistance, mostly for the sake of editing out deaths, or in case of a skill issue.
This channel does not accept money.

[Sonic ROM Hack] Sonic Halloween - Complete Playthrough
Halloween hack? In February!? More likely than you think.
No, really, this hack is awesome. Each zone adds a subtle new gimmick to the game, with layout changes to pair along with them. There's even a brand new boss gimmick, putting a twist on how you go through it!
Pumpkin Hill adds the ghost monitor, which lets you go through spikes, unlocking never before seen routes. Its boss fight is changed to feature a second phase against the giant pumpkin Devil Eggman will use against you, which will try to strike you with fire. Not too flashy, but still eye-catching!
Marble Hell brings in the raising lava gimmick from Hill Top Zone. It's not too hard to escape its might, but I was very impressed to see it in action in a Sonic 1 hack! Doesn't happen too often!
Its boss fight is on a timer. Let it expire, and you die. Was hoping for something more interesting, and the way the "timer" is executed doesn't really sell the idea that you're going to die.
Midnight Castle, the Spring Yard equivalent, features the "?" monitor. If you're familiar with Sonic 2's "?" monitor, throw that out of the window. Though you won't know whether it goes up or down, as your surroundings will literally flip upside down! I'd say act 3 is the best use of it, as it has the more interesting level edits: act 1 and 2 feel a bit too flat and repetitive in comparison.
Although this boss fight won't let you fall into a bottomless pit, this might come as a blessing, as the new obstacle that you'll have to tackle is flaming skullheads homing into you! Very scary!
Ghastly Tides is a much darker reinterpretation of Labyrinth Zone. Literally. The lights are completely off, with the only source of light being... the water??? Makes you wonder what they have in there. As an aside, I really LOVE the drowning "theme": really gives the chills, especially in Act 3's bottom route, where you're bound to risk drowning if you want to get through things faster!
The chase against Eggman in act 3 has been completely rearranged! It might be harder to navigate with your surroundings darkened and more ambiguous! Will you power through? Or will you take advantage of the glowing water? Your choice!
Pumpkin City, the Star Light equivalent, features bridges of pumpkins which you can rotate with the press of a switch. And, being a pumpkin land, the pumpkin from earlier returns for a much tougher rematch against Sonic in this boss' phase 2! Despite the slower pattern of attacks, it still packs a punch!
Unfortunately, this hack's Scrap Brain equivalent, Nightmare Egg, features no new gimmick.
...in fact, they feature EVERY previous level gimmick at once! I have to praise the rising lava section in act 1: it actually scared me with how fast it was going!
Act 3 twists things around with Ghastly Tides' water: now, you can see just fine above ground. It's the blood infested waters that'll give your eyes a challenge!
The final boss fight felt a bit too fast for my reflexes, but the Spin Dash will help you escape some of the trickier shots. And if you gather all of the Chaos Pumpkins, you get rewarded with an adequately impactful ending, restoring the world as it was before Devil Eggman's curse washed South Island!
Overall, I felt this hack was very, very interesting! It's definitely not a flawless ROM hack, with some degree of stylistic inconsistency in the graphics, as well as the less than well instrumented music covers, but aside from these flaws, even if this hack might not shine as bright as the big ones, this is a must play!

[Sonic ROM Hack] Sonic 1 - Dick Move Prevention Edition (Complete Playthrough)
Переглядів 3621 годину тому
This hack by MarkeyJester expands Sonic 1's screen size! ...at the cost of everything else! I'll have to say, it's very impressive that the game (or at least its first zone) was readapted to function at a fraction of its normal graphical size. There's something fascinating about playing Sonic with ridiculously generous screen boundaries, which is something I like occasionally messing about with...
[Sonic ROM Hack] Sonic ERaZor 8 - Widescreen Playthrough (Frantic)

ERaZor is back, and WOW is it better than ever. First big change, as you'll notice, is that now there's an official Widescreen version of the game, which is what you'll see me playing! Green Hill has significantly been ramped up in difficulty, now asking you to run through the ENTIRE ZONE with its gimmick. Actually had me scared mid-playthrough. Another big change would be a whole new level, fe...
[Sonic ROM Hack] Sonic the Hedgehog - A New Adventure - Full Playthrough (2019)

Despite the fact that this came out 5 years earlier, only now I got to perform a complete playthrough of this hack. And I couldn't find it as entertaining as I would've liked. I will say, I appreciate most of the finer graphical edits made to the various levels, and the level layout changes offer some of the levels a radically different way of going through them! The kind that fits pretty well ...
[Sonic ROM Hack] Sonic: Christmas Trouble - Demo 2 Playthrough
Переглядів 316Місяць тому
A charming little ROM hack for the Christmas season is in development! I'll say: though the level design doesn't appear to have been carefully thought out, it does use what it has pretty interestingly. For example, this hack has a mighty double jump that isn't there just for the sake of it, but can actually help you reach higher places that would otherwise be hard to access, if at all! Not much...

In this ROM hack, you'll be playing through two gamemodes as an assortment of souped up Super and Hyper forms! [Sonic ROM Hack] Sonic Megamix - SEGA Mega Drive (Shadow) (Full Playthrough)
Переглядів 306Місяць тому
Shadow is probably one of the worse ways you can go through Sonic Megamix. His moveset doesn't really feel well balanced, with the inability to control whether you get to Double Jump or perform a Homing Attack. His boost move is also pretty powerful in base form. In his proper Super form, however, oooh boy. Super Shadow has a modern-style boost that JUST by tapping the boost button sends you pl...

Knuckles' playthrough is here! And, once again, Jdpense does not disappoint in delivering a unique experience, this time catered to the red echidna! A charming little ROM Hack that attempts to faithfully recreate Amy Rose's moveset, as seen in Sonic Superstars, in Sonic 1! Having not played Sonic Superstars at the time of writing this description, I can not vouch for its faithfulness, but, from a surface level evaluation, it seems to be the case! I'm also very appreciative of the attention to detail given to the character, such as the expan...
[Sonic Hacking Contest 2024] Sonic 2 Addendum - Demo Playthrough
Переглядів 4002 місяці тому
Sonic 2 Addendum is an in-development project by Speems! This ROM Hack is Sonic 2 with an interpretation of the scrapped levels from back in development. I can't compliment the structure of the new levels, which felt quite repetitive and linear, and the way the game led you from a zone to another, in some places, was not particularly pleasant, and rather abrupt. I can't say this hack appealed t...

Tails felt a tad slower to play through than the others, but the boss fights in his own version of Extended World certainly make it worth it: lots of spectacle! Yes, this is the 8 hours one. No, this is not a human run. In fact, the video itself is longer than the time I spent making it. What I did was set up BizHawk to automatically hold right and press the jump button at a rate I decided. One jump every 34 frames seems to do the trick. ...for no longer than an hour. I monitored Sonic's height throughout the level, and, when it got too high, I decreas...

This playthrough is of the Classic Mode of South Island Expedition, a special Extra mode where Sonic is restricted to his bare minimum moveset of Jumping and Rolling. I'll say this: playing the game like this actually made the level design philosophy of the hack ...
[Sonic Hacking Contest 2024] Sonic the Hedgehog: Save The Moon - Complete Playthrough

Save The Moon returns! This version features a near-complete restyle, as well as about 3 new levels, and a teaser for what's to come when Sonic, eventually, saves the moon! Yup! Save for my years of experience with previous builds of ERaZor, this is pretty much a first run! That's how I usually roll.
ÀAA YEA THIS IS HAPPENING 0:45
Thanks for playing! We are glad you got some enjoyment of the game, and are super glad to hear that the double jump has been used in the level design well! If i were to be honest the level design was made before we switched to 128x128, which only has been used for some path swapper sections in the levels (such as mall) and due to that there have been plans on reworking more of it. When it comes to bosses, they were the first custom ones (made before worst hack 2) and i do agree with what you said with the. Casino night's boss was indeed more of a placeholder. But even so, we are going to make sure to improve as much as we can in order to make it the best it could be! And glad you enjoyed the music! Our composers have worked hard on them! -stdh
yeah, the physics were broken in this build of Sonic: Project Revenge, they aren't like that in the SHC build luckily
I love how every level has different Super tracks.
yeah! the random music pick is my favorite feature of the hack: really does help keep the feeling fresh!
I don't remember who suggested that, but it had a transformative impact for sure. It really helps maintain the super themes while not making them as mind numbing
@@malachigv i suggested it long before we picked up development a couple of months back also bear in mind it's currently experimental as it's using a frame counter (hence why super sonic's theme from s2 always plays first) though it will be improved in the 2nd demo using a proper number randomizer instead
1:14 Clean Slate mentioned
Happy new year for everyone 🥳🥳

Very cool! 👍
This Rom got Update?
Yes
“That’s a great fucking story, kid.” Willie, Bad Santa, 2003
The worst thing about this hack is the fact that it ends. I can't wait how this would be in the complete version
Even with the bot, you had to precisely or somewhat calculate when to jump and provide hours of attention. This sure is going to be interesting to watch.
Having the game run at 1000fps, as well as having Sonic's Y position constantly visible definitely helped speed up production! It probably took me around 1 hour to get the input movie in place itself, with everything involving the video itself taking 2-3 hours. As said, it actually took me less than 8 hours to make this 8 hour video :P ...it did take some trial and error to figure how to automate Sonic's inputs, and the initial run was at a much slower 32 on the speed counter, until i figured I could roll to make Sonic accelerate to 45.
@@MasterFirecore That last sentence made me aware of something horrible... I didn't realize that I kind of made the most sadistic trap ever. If you don't accelerate at 45 and keep it there (which won't happen if you keep jumping if your speed is around 20), you won't collect enough miles before the 8 hours are over...
Oh god...
Nice!
The way you managed to check out the last easter egg in the escape and managed to jump into the ring with 0 seconds left was unironically epic to watch! :D
For real, it actually had me gasping mid recording!
Selbi actually kept working on this project? Amazing!
Fun fact! This playthrough was my first run of this version of Sonic Delta, which effectively means you get to watch me play the game as it was when I was judging it for the Sonic Hacking Contest 2024!
The best worst hack ever
9:45 Ok, so, the first romhack used a sound of kid screaming... And I just realized what kind of scream was that. It was a kid who voiced Portuguese Mario Hotel video, Joel highlighted that video back in the Brazilian Super Mario All Stars HD stream. And the reason I'm pointing this out is that "Cuidado e o Bowser" is what kid said as Mario when seeing "The Bowser". In short, I guess they're expanding on the Brazilian Mario references
Sorry that you had to play through this🔥
this shit is so ass thank you for making this 🔥
Oh, I thought it hacked on Sonic 2. Because there's Tails, which should be Luigi.
Sonic 3 in sonic the hedgehog?! lol
Wasn't it the other way around?
In one way this feels like clickbate in another... something about this gameplay feels different...I just can't seem to find out what it is
Spin dash, shields, special stages at checkpoints, different jingles, music uses different PCM samples
...yeah that and 7 chaos emeralds wasn't there only 6 in sonic one?
the part that may feel "off" is how fast that you get the chaos emeralds (via the sonic 2 chaos emerald mechanic from the checkpoints) and all of the new abilities. what's advertised is sonic 1 remade in the sonic 3 engine, but that is including all of the quirks like insta shield and spindash (edit:) another few parts i JUST caught are that there are the elemental shields, the zones don't transition very smoothly like they do in s3&k, on the topic of that the zones start out from odd angles (at least in ghz) and aren't cut off where they usually are supposed to and you're right about there being 6 chaos emeralds in sonic 1, i think they added an extra one for parity with most other sonic games or as a super sonic requirement specific for this rom hack basically, it's sonic 1 with sonic 2 and sonic 3 mechanics and it may feel out of place since those games are vastly different from eachother in one way or another (mechanically anyways) yikes sorry for the yap sesh
(You forgot the rapids of BZ2 in the description. :p)
oh yeah i did that too but FM pretty much overhauled it lmao

yeah I don't like this hack, never got the apeel.
Good Hack rom of Sonic
Thank you for playing my romhack. My goal with this one was to create something fun and simple (unlike the "overwhelming and too overloaded" that Sonic Cronos 1.7, a hack of mine back in 2018, was. I do not like that hack nowadays. It was a disaster), add musics in ports that I, personally, would prefer to hear over other styles of ports (which explains the simpler melody edits, volume changes, softer instruments, pitch changes, etc.) and make a good balacne for the special stages without rotation, along with a simple yet effective reward along them that did not require too much from me. I saw your description review, and thanks for it. The first level feels different because it was from a backup disassembly from around 2017 or so, and the rest of the levels were designed this year. Honestly, to me, I did not felt a true "need" to add multiple paths like my past self used to do, and adding powerups to them seemed more fitting for my taste. The last special stage....well...I nerfed it many times before the release, and I lost track of the amount of days I did just for beta-testing. To me, the stage is not that frustrating, but I admit that I tend to let my creative side talks loud sometimes, and some design ideas can come rough lol. A price to pay in order to try different ideas, as I say. I could have reduced or removed the springs from the walls, I guess. I did though about adding the jump height for the emeralds powerup, but.....I decided to just not do it. I though it would be overpowered and, again, I wanted to make simpler stuff. As for that underwater thing, I wanted to fix it, but I do not knew how, and I found no information about it either anywhere. I have zero contact with sonic romhack forums or these people, so I was limited for THAT topic. A playlist of the musics original sources can be found in my channel. I doubt that more Sonic 1 hacking stuff will come from me, since my thing is classic Megaman 1 (and, in parts, 2) romhacking, since I released 5 romhacks of them on my romhacking.net account and another is at hiatus, but at least now I can say that I have a Sonic 1 project that I am proud of, since Sonic Cronos is not something that deserves to be remembered in my opinion, for both the release versions and production process. Thank you again.
The game looks great and the music was nice
I'm glad you appreciated the review! Thank you for reading it and making the ROM hack! I wish you good luck with your future ROM hacking endeavors, Sonic or not!

Ah yes, the most romhack ever, a lot of flaws when it comes to level design and moves, but it sure influenced a lot of stuff in current day hacks.
