I just loves me some fuzz. Never herd one I didn't.

Just an observation: The SM57 imposes a massive 7 dB hump at 5-6kHz, making it one of the most colored mics for capturing a fuzz. It's not an issue with the 4-transistor bigMuff; it brings out some welcome snarl , in fact - but there's more going on there in the foxx and danelectro in that frequency region, and not much elsewhere... for shure ;o) ymmv, it's just been my experience that unless the amp+speaker is rounding off some of the edges, the 57 can be rather unflattering to 2/3-transistor - especially the all-silicon - fizz designs.

Some of these sound like blown transistor radios. Aka like shit. Silicon Fuzz Face sounds good. Probably the best one of the lot.

That beginning with continuous tone is actually a very good way of showcasing the differences, I wish people would do that kind of thing more often ...

Fuzolo was instant QUOTSA to my ears

The Harmonic Percolator clone would have to be the favourite. Still doesn't come close to the screaming madness that comes from my HP clone build. But it still sounded good. Would probably be a lot easier to control than mine but really that's not the point. If I want more control over the chaos the I would use my ge Fuzz Face clone or something else.

What's most interesting about this demo is that each fuzz has its own distinct tonal character; no two pedals sound exactly alike. All great sounding though. Personal fave, not surprisingly, was the MXR fuzzface. It was the most familiar sounding of all that I heard...

What are you using to fade between the clean+slightly fuzzy sound and the fuzzywuzzyiest sound? You stop touching the pedal and then all of a sudden the tone morphs deliciously. Like at 2:45

Since they all sound terrible to me I may just stick with classic distortion/overdrive pedals. I never did hear a fuzz I liked. I was hoping to hear one here. Oh well. I can save money. Thanks for the video. It showed me everything I needed to know.

The Foxx Tone Machine also has a pretty robust fuzz when you turn the octave off. It might not stand out much here, but think of it in a band's mix. The thing is literally a box full of mids.

The Danelectro one sounded the best, in my opinion. The STD Machine was also really cool.

No Superfuzz type or Bosstone? There's just too many good fuzz pedals out there. I love my Fender Blender. The Ampeg Scrambler needs more love too.
