Shark hunting in a Opel Grandland X
The Opel Grandland X is quite boring, nevertheless there are still some interesting things about it, here we take a look at a few of them. Enjoy!

Fantastic! Where did you get the headband? THanks
That headband comes from AleExpress. Look for Grado replacement headband and you'll find many options
@@David-zv2ob Many thanks
What a great video man. Loved it. I am looking to buy one, are they safe to travel with across country?
If you keep in mind that you are driving an old Land Rover, then yes, they are perfectly safe. This means, keep double the distance to other cars. Take calm roads. Drive slowly. Then you'll get everywhere with a Land Rover!
Where did you get the jacks?
Ali Express, look for female 3,5 mm jacks. There are also sites where you can get quality jacks, but those are expensive!
@@David-zv2ob Thanks for your reply. I wonder if cheap jacks will cause the cable to inadvertently unplug all the time or loosen over time. Parts Express has some made by EST (Japan) but they're snap-in type. Not sure they'll fit well. Also contemplating whether to do single-sided cable vs. Y cable?
@acoustic61 Even with the cheapest connectors i did not have any unplugging problems. But those just feel bad to touch and are crappy. I'd suggest getting connectors for about €1 per connector, maybe a bit more. Those had zero issues.
@acoustic61 Single sided vs Y cable is purely your aestethic choice. Y cable is easier (for grado) because it came originally with a Y cable. For a single sided cable you'll have to run wires through the headband.
We swapped the 2.25 petrol for a 200TDi Discovery engine. 1 Ton brakes (3") on the front ( double brake system is standard on my 1984 ex- mod) instead of 2". OD very helpful. FWH. 3 additional alu-diesel tanks fitted, so 200l diesel in total with 2 underseat tanks. Kenlowe fan, 2 stage.
That is some safari level equipment. Especially those fuel tanks. Are they all separate from each other or linked in some way?
Tools? No AF spanners?
Maintenance is definitely the best thing for these cars! They drive pretty well if everything is as it should be. Best upgrade that mine has is probably the Toro overdrive. It also has bigger brakes which work really well when they’re properly adjusted. For luxury and comfort, thick rubber mats all over the floor reduce vibrations (and some noise) quite considerably, and the exmoor trim door cards are a great storage solution. But my main, number 1 essential upgrade, is a toolbox in the back hahaha
Maintenance surely is the most important aspect of owning any old car. We replaced many worn components recently and the Land Rover passed inspection! Some more work to do and she'll be good to go for many more years!
can you reply with a link to the berings?
Hi, here is a link to simmilar bearings: a.aliexpress.com/_EGztiv5 They are 3x8x4 mm, so you can search for pretty much any bearing in this size. Good luck!
Nice Ii like it the way you promoot Land Rover 😊
Thanks!
since I was a baby I have been loving this car, and I own it til now, I just fucking love it. it's ROOFLESS😍
Sounds lovely, enjoy your time with it!
I just bought one today. A 2007 model with 89000km. In about 2 weeks I'll be able to collect it. I even get a full 3 year warrenty on the car. So in about 3 years I'll get rid off it :). I bought it to spare my 1988 Citroën AX GT. I kinda have a thing for small cars even with my 1.95m. Funny thing, the AX feels like a much more solid car even if it's 20 years older and built as light as possible. But for the 5000km I do in a year, the Fiat will be totally fine (I hope)
Petrol or diesel engine?
Diesel 2.25L!
Only in a Series Land Rover, it's simply a way of life.
It sure is!
Could you possibly upload a mirrored version? It’s a bit unnerving in LHD!
That is an option, you could also watch the video through a mirror, then your problem should be fixed!
Great video! Only thing is I'd recommend to paint those paddles otherwise they'd rust real quick
Could be, since the video they have not rusted in the slightest. If that happens i'll coat them in some clear protective stuff. I like the metal look
@@David-zv2ob only mention because mine have rusted (original). Before seeing your video I didn’t even think of just removing and sanding them down (shows how uncreative people can be). I’ve since sanded, painted, replaced grips and I couldn’t be happier with my T150
Hi David, can you please show us how to use the the gear lever red and yellow.
That would be a nice little video. It has been a long time since I made one, if I don't forget about it i'll make it!
Noticed my wheel was making squeaking noises when turning to the right after doing the bearing mod. I spent way too much time and money messing with the bearings. Tried a few different types, tried removing old oil and replacing, tried rearranging the washers and using the rubber rings, greased the rod they sit on, everything. It was a bearing in the motor the whole time🤦♂️. Hard to hear where it's coming from, pulling the gear out stops the noise temporarily. Gonna try and get inside the motor and replace/oil the bearings if possible. If that fails I might try upgrading the motor and maybe the psu or just buy a moza r9.
Aye, good luck with fixing your motor
The best review ever! Im close to buy one, im afraid couse im 1.90… how tall are you bro?
I am 1.91, it was tight but still quite comfortable.
I did 3000 miles in mine 10hr days.
Well, I got a 1983 Series 3 and - thanks to the suggestion of an old 88 driver - I replaced the factory steering box (stone hard in the city), with the steering box part number NRC5963. It is a genuine Land Rover factory option of its age, warmly indicated for heavy duty cars such as the Stage One V8 and the "1 Ton model". My 88 now drives like it has a factory servo steering and, both in the city and on the highway is a real treat to drive!!! And I quickly found the part in the Netherlands, online ☺✌🏁
Great suggestion, buddy! I just found it online and gonna buy it today! Not many bloggers are aware of this vintage- but great - Land Rover original factory optional component.
Wow this is really cool, might look into getting one for myself! Thanks for the recommendation
your gearbox and the whole drivetrain sounds very healthy ! Get a new/recon steering box + new push-rods + service or new steering relay and a proper front axle alignment. Believe me or not, it will run like on tracks. Alignment is key..
The reason that piece was 3d printed is because it breaks after sometime of use and that affects the gear shifts. Also you sound like a mix between Verstappen and Jarno Opmeer.
Being named in the same sentence as these two greats, that sure is something
A rather rainy and windy day. Don't see any water on the road. The Car is completely clean. Volgens mij heb eets vergetten tussen de oeren!
*The car looks clean* It definitely isn't clean :)
Thats a proper wheel mate cheer s mate
Thanks mate, sadly my skills don't live up to the standard which this wheel deserves

Trade it in for a Toyota Land Cruiser. Job done.
That is the smart thing to do, good thing i'm not that smart!
I've got a fiat coupe and non turbo 2l 16v is very cool to drive
Sounds amazing!
You dont drive a landrover, You operate it
Accurate.
Between 1978 to 1982, I used my S3 as a daily vehicle and did 120,000 miles in it. Quite a bit of that was off road, building the M25 motorway around London. That Landy went on to be a daily drive vehicle for a game keeper and is still going today! I still have a 1977 S3 Landy now!
You should be telling stories of your time driving that Land Rover daily
Have a 1971 2a swb pick up petrol had it 23 years used for cruising the Cotswolds in summer pest control and deer control. Fetching logs for fire in winter 104 pounds insurance Adrian flux 👏
you haven't done Nürburgring until you have done it on BAR treds lol
I drive a 1978 Range Rover 2 door classic on coils. No leaver for me never.
Sounds smooth as butter!
Best Car Review, gives me big dick Energy 🤙 Greetz from Germany
Awesome video, thank you David!
i can’t get the washer on the bearing😭
(David) your Big idiot!!😡
Hello David and thank you for your videos. Can you send me the link of the springs you bought?
That will be hard, my dad bought them second hand and I have no idea what brand/model they are
Info bearings pls (size, ordernumber.....)
3x8x4 mm bearings
Hahah, hilarisch en toch werkelijk. Bedankt voor het lachen. Hopelijk rijd ik ook weer snel en ben ik binnen de kortse keren net zo maf aan het doen. Groeten uit de kop van Noord Holland.
hI, VERY hELPFULL VIDEO IAM JUST "FIXING" A SECOND HAND T150 THRUSTMASTER, SOME Of THE SCEWS ARE MISSING, DO YOU KNOW THE "M size" of the screws used to put together the 2 parts of the wheel and the big screws to attach the whole steering wheel to the base rotation axis?
Sadly I don't know those sizes, maybe on the thrusmaster manual somewhere
I’m driving a 1983 Series 3 daily as standard. Think your a man? Come and drive Fluffy, the 1968 Forward Control (you’ll find our videos on here)
Never knew this beast existed! Thanks for introducing me to this marvellous vehicle
My 1974 S3 is my daily driver. It’s a 2.25 petrol cracking 15 mpg. It’s noisy slow uncomfortable, the heater is a lukewarm gentle draft, the headlights are as bright as whale oil candles and I get a free foot bath when the water drips on my feet but driving it makes me smile. I can’t rush because Lenny the Land Rover won’t rush and the whole experience is just stress free.
The evaporation of stress as soon as someone enters one of these mythical vehicles is a sight to behold. Enhoy dailying your landy!
Hi I think everyone should own at least one landrover in their lifetime mine lightweight it makes me smile every day gazj
This is the truth. My Land Rover is at the mechanic and it makes me sad :(
Did you use a washer before the bearings i think i saw them in the video. Where did you get the washers what dimensions?
I did use some washers before putting on the bearings, they are the exact same dimensions as the bearings. I don't remember the dimensions, but I'll look them up for you
you can use 3x 3x8x4 mm bearing on each, so 6 bearings in total and no washers
car review 10/10
best car review i have ever seen
Then this must be the first one you have seen :) There are some great reviewers out there which I can only aspire to match
Great video. I've bought 3 tickets (out of 1,199) to win a Series 3 diesel. That's a 0.2496% chance of winning - it's virtually in the bag ;)
Crossing my fingers
so how did you connect the usb power?
There were two sockets in the dashboard, I don't know if those are standard or what, but they deliver power. Just plugged two pins into the hole and connected those up to a 12V car socket.
