Checking out and reviewing horror movies, letting you know what's fresh or what is rotting!
The BEST Movie of 2024
This is the BEST most missed movie of 2024. If you are looking for a sci-fi horror/thriller, then make sure you check out Transient. Transient is if you took an episode of Black Mirror mixed with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It is a cerebral movie with many twists and turns and will leave you thinking long after the credits roll.

How To get Your Low-Budget Indie Film Distributed
Nice Review. I just posted my own review for this movie. I always avoid watching other reviews before I have mine done, to not get influenced, but like to check out other opinions afterwards - and all I came across so far for this movie are calling out the exact same things, including my own review. So, with this one, the flaws were quite obvious, I guess. Long story short: I totally agree with your assessment. I loved the premise, but the execution was just mediocre, because of too little self-aware humor and too much drama.
Great video, I'm just finishing a low budget arthouse horror and looking for distribution possibilities, very useful information, thanks!
Can anybody explain the zombie named Myrtle? Was that a pet zombie?
Congrats! I hope to check it out soon.
I loved that movie! It’s not good but just so entertaining
its a fantastic film, really enjoyed it. Insane what you accomplished with the budget you had. a lot of talented people were involved.
Definitely one of our favorite movies of the year!
Just watched it and loved it. It definitely felt like a black mirror story . that song during the flashback scene at the end it was awesome. Did you ever get to see Oddity ?
Thanks Mike. The song was just something I wrote/sang. I have not checked out Oddity yet!
I thought the digital look was cool and purposeful- modern horror? In line with the story
Movie was awesome. Loved it.
I agree it was not perfect, but I didn't think it wasn't that bad. Granted yes cliched and done better. Good all-star cast. Jeffrey Combs was the best part. It felt like Psycho meets the Purge a little bit but as a game contest good point The Running Man. I liked seeing Danielle Harris just wish she had a bigger role in the movie. I agree the Husband and kid characters were bland cliched and not interesting.
That's too bad I was looking forward to seeing this movie 😢 I was hoping it was more of a comedy movie I would Recommend the Slotherhouse on Hulu that movie is funny 😂 🦥
Good video. I did a video as well about securing Film Distribution. And I have a new one dropping in a couple days.
I just got my blue ray of the new Salem's lot and I'm have to say I liked it.
Went really downhill when the couple came into it
Just saw it. paid $3.99 for it, and I was overcharged $3.98 for this. The whole thing felt like walking through treacle. Nothing more than a moldy vegemite sandwich.
This was not made for the story which has already been written and adapted very well. It was made for the same reason everything is being re-made today. To replace white characters with black ones or white men with females (or the ultimate) black females.
Thank you
It looks exactly like Totally Killer on Prime
Any horror move with off screen kills gets 0 in my book
yea, you're way off. this movie was great
Typical (modern) Dutch cinema: absolute crass trash.
Nic Frost looks like he swallowed Nic Frost
Bummer. I was looking forward to this.
Hadn't heard of this! Might check it out anyway.
Chris, could you please introduce us to your co-host? The cats probably thinking the same thing I am: ‘I bet me and Chris here could wrap up Crite-Nite with new installments called Cat/Crite-Nite….or something…..’ the title needs some work….Happy Halloween guys! 🎃🙀👻
3 is great. Much better than 2. 3 is on par with the first one.
Terrible film
🙄
Oh there was a good reason Rippy only emerged at night. His CGI model would look even more ridiculous otherwise. I saw this mostly for the novelty of Michael Biehn helping a leading lady fight a movie monster once again. Who was also in Alien Covenant to my surprise! It's basically a fast-food burger of a monster movie. Something to hit the spot during spooky season, but not all that filling in the long run.
lol boring as f***! the Housewives of the Outback back story is excruciating in between the comedic gore scenes. Great if you want to leave the room constantly to do chores or something more interesting! I got tons done! come back around 1hr 15 mins to catch up... you won't have missed much. cool huh?
Will watch it this weekend. I was put off by Terrifier 2 which was good but way too long and self-indulgent in parts. Your review is the best of many, many I have watched and/or read. Hope this new channel takes off Chris!
Too kind, thank you! Let me know what you think.
Loved this movie probably my favorite in the series so far I liked 2 but it was long and confusing
Agreed!
I was going to check this out until the title changed from The Red to Rippy just before release. Never a good sign.
I assume this movie was shot in your backyard
I just watched this film and liked it more than most I've seen recently. Despite the minimalist approach, I thought the "world building" was at a genius level. The idea that you need to remain indoors after dark for a short span each October lends to a truly creepy, spooky, "siege like vibe." The acting was excellent and hair raising throughout. The desiccated corpse of the witch (with broom included) didn't feel silly at all. If anything, it was the "chef's kiss." Like any good "seminal" work, this film leaves me wanting more and maybe hoping for a sequel that would flesh out this interesting world a little more. I've seen movies that depict zombie apocalypses, vampire apocalypses, and even werewolf apocalypses. Since it's that spooky time of the year, why not, finally, a depiction of a "broom riding witch apocalypse?"
i loved the ending to this movie and I thought the burned creatures looked sick especially how they walked. But the ending was great, I loved how the ending really turns the film from a revenge story to the conception of the antichrist. I will say though the non talking seemed a bit pointless. especially when the one guy showed up and spoke spanish. lol i was like what is the point of this gimmick then? lol If instead people couldnt speak because of the rapture and it played into the creatures who hunting for your voice instead and ripping out throats and eating the human throat to lets say get the voice could have to do with being heard by god or hearing gods voice? something. the entire scene though with the spanish speaking guy was just so odd. the baby being born though was cool
I really loved this movie. i loved the third act. the monster reveal was so damn good in the bedroom when its hovering over the boy. that face is so creepy
I really enjoyed this movie. The give away was when they both kept saying her name and she kept reminding him of her name.
Why was a trench dug underneath car when kid Jumps underneath?
It’s an independent film not a Hollywood big budget film .
fun fact - nobody asked.... nor does it make a difference
I had a little bit of hope for this. Regardless of your review- I'm still gonna watch it. I saw the original and it was the first time I was properly terrified- especially the jump scare when it showed the nosfaratu type vampire. I remember hopping over the sofa and running out of the room. Always stuck with me even to this day. It's rare these days that horror movies get it right. Someone said last good 'take' on Salems lot was Midnight Mass which was brilliant and a great story. Relying on jump scares all through a movie and the monster/ghost been showing in the backround is getting old. But then again right now we have screenwriters been influenced by these substandard movies- they go on to write more garbage. Good review though and thanks.
I think it’s superior to the Babadook, loved it
🥱
The movie is really good..
there was no story at all
I's not at all a decent movie; it's actually really bad. No set up, no clue as to what, who, why, just slashing, no character development whatsoever; just a stupid idea
Dude you’re a clown, are you even a horror fan?! Movie was sick. I loved it
clicked cus booba
No lore behind this movie AT ALL: where did the creature come from & why? why did the dad crash & how? why did it target to torment his gf? what happened to the black guy after the hospital did he survive? why didn’t they reach out to a priest or spiritual person that deals with demons? So many damn holes in this movie 😂 No lore at all. just a scary crawling demon with his pops face.
I dont think you need lore. theres no lore in real life. realistically if a monster shows up at your house youre not gonna figure it out. there are no answers in real life.
Yayy 😌😊
The last 15 minutes made no sense to me at all! Like what's up with DJ taking over the movie at the end and did literally NOTHING. Totally waste of our time. This idea, I think, I had the potential to be an awesome movie, but I think unfortunately it fell flat.
Agree. It fell like filler to pad the film length out.
I didn’t get it either. It’s like they were building up to some grand revelation. Because the DJ told Mike that we don’t burn witches anymore, they require human sacrifice. But then he ends the call with, call me after you burn the witch. And I’m thinking burning the witch was going to set off another supernatural event. But I think the revelation was that Adam knocked the beer over and he had to go out and burn the body and in doing so became another witch. As we’re told earlier in the film that someone or something had created a ritual circle used to create witches around where it was buried. And I would go as far and say knocking the beer over didn’t start the curse. It started when that one guy first shot the witch, which is why his wife was taken. He had spread it to her.
Should watch Oddity that was a good horror movie
yes exactly
