Five Tips For The Perfect Dried Flower
The five key areas that I discuss for ensuring perfect dried everlasting flowers that will really make all the difference to achieving naturally dried, colourfully textured dried flowers are:
1.) Cutting & Conditioning
2.) Drying techniques
3.) Stoarge
4.) When to cut
5.) Unique ingrédients
If you have been thinking about creating everlasting arrangements using your own garden grown flowers and have had limited success with drying, or are concerned about the quality of dried flowers you can achieve, then this video shares exactly how to ensure sucessfull dried everlastings every time. Perhaps you have been buying dried flowers that you now realise have been treated with chemical treatments such as bleach. It does take time, energy and research to find more sustainable alternatives. I believe that each of us can make a difference individually to helping the environment. Starting with making your own dried flowers, I discuss the practical steps that you can take to ensure a really beautiful, naturally dried flower that can be kept for many years.

    Hello how long can the flowers be in the boxes wrapped with paper? Thanks

    • @fierceblooms

      Years! Depending on what flowers- helichrysum for example will keep its saturated colour for at least 3 years whereas white dried flowers will “fade” more quickly- hope that helps

      short answer is no Alison - have an experiment and give it plenty of time - i suspect they may tuen to black rather then retain their red but yoi never know

      @fierceblooms yes I suspect they'll be black! Buy I'll pick a few early while they're at their best and try maybe to dry them quickly if that makes any sense. It would be great if they even had a hint of red .thanks for coming back to me .

    Something that confuses me: Ranunculus are not at all frost hardy, so if we plant them in the fall and they send up shoots, won’t frost damage to those shoots risk killing the whole plant? I am in USDA Zone 8 and everything says to plant ranunculus in the fall here, but how are they supposed to survive the winter if they are presprouted and actually start growing in the fall? I am perplexed.

    • @jordanbelmonte4992
      @jordanbelmonte4992 8 місяців тому

      Yes I am also in zone 8 and trying to figure this out. Last year I put them in a cold frame outside after they pre sprouted in my garage then in spring moved from the cold frame into my garden bed. But I think I transported them into diff pots too many times, they flowered but most of the flowers were pretty small and I was lucky to get 2 blooms per corn.

    This a such a wonderful video! Thank you so much for putting in the time to make this and to share your knowledge with others! 🥰 In the part about storage you mentioned using an elastic band to keep the individual flower bundles together - is this just for after they have been dried or can elastic bands also be used for the air-drying process? I have just read somewhere else that the elastic band can slip when the flowers shrink (in the process of air-drying)

    • @Alex-mw2eq
      @Alex-mw2eq Рік тому

      im not sure but i think that if you make the band tight enough it shouldnt be a problem as long as the band isnt too old so it doesnt fall apart
