    • @michaelmartinez4515
      @michaelmartinez4515 5 років тому

      Not to be a know-it-all, but the only reason why these engine to max out around 5K RPM is because of the heads, trust me if I had some trick flow heads it would rev to 6K with ease and make power

    • @whydoihave6neutrals772
      @whydoihave6neutrals772 5 років тому

      michael martinez To make it efficient to rev to 6,000 you would need to update more than your heads. Airflow ignition and fuel. Heads would help but wouldn’t do much without the rest. These engine weren’t built to max at 6,000 they were built to max at 5k for a reason. The stock airflow and fuel system cannot deliver enough air or fuel for it generate more power past 5,000

    • @whydoihave6neutrals772
      @whydoihave6neutrals772 5 років тому

      Actually 5,000 was over shooting it on my part they top out at torque at 4,400 and horsepower at 4,700. Even a new car person should know that revving higher isn’t always more power.

    • @micahrlusk
      @micahrlusk 5 років тому

      well you don't always want your shift point where peak power is made, now stock yes they run out of wind after around 5000-5500rpm, but they are still making close to 200hp at 6k rpm, so get a tune, make it breathe better, and it can actually have beans up there. sometimes you want a car to shift at a higher rpm so it sets it back at around the peak power band instead of before it causing an even worse affect than making it rev a little higher. these also had the PI heads like the 99-04 mustangs so they're just restricted and have a different tune in Explorer form. a 99-04 mustang can rev to 6000 fairly easily and with bolt ons and a tune and even cams have guts up to around 6500-6700rpm. it all just depends what you want your engine to do and what car its in, what tranny you have, gearing, etc.

      Charles Jost i have a few video's of my exaust, after i put the valve in it, was tons of fun to drive especially dropping it down to 1st gear get it up to about 5k rpm and letting off i got ultimate pop corn, its very vocal and loves to pop! As for driving fast I've taking it to 108mph before (hit the factory limiter) and it was stable but its a 5,000lbs suv, so to be honest not ment for speed but i hot rod mine around all the time, it feels a little boaty. Not a sports car by any means lol! Im sure if you lower the suspension install aftermarket shocks that are stiffer will make it handle wayyyy better.

      AMV0429 oh yea man, just stay on top of the timing chains and when you do replace them replace the guids, chains and oil tensioners. Also stay on top of the transmission fluid maintenance and you should have no problems with the truck, if you do feel free to hit me up on here im alway working on my 04, 152,000 miles stong and no major issues.

    Did you cover anything? Coils? Connectors?

    • @michaelmartinez4515
      @michaelmartinez4515 5 років тому

      Mike Marsh No, but after this video i would recommend it, reason is the way the 4.6 has the ignition coils arranged it introduces water inside on the spark plug causing it to misfire, i had to suck all the water out with a vaccume and straw attached to the end, so i would recommend not to drown the coils with water and try to cover them with a plastic trash bag and you'll be golden.

      Mike Marsh i know your pain lol! Mine is the rwd 4.6 v8 man it get's a little sketchy when its wet out haha! These truck are not that hard to fix up, its pretty simple, only issuse they really have are timing chains and the 2nd gear servo in the trans that causes 2-3rd slip, mines been really good to me so i hope yours treats you good.
