Unedited Interview with Don Knotts April 1992
When Don Knotts visited Orlando's Disney-MGM Studios, my wife and I were given an opportunity to interview him, with that interview -- which I found on an old cassette tape -- being shared here exactly as it unfolded. The backstory is that I had just presented Mr. Knotts with a proclamation naming this 'Don Knotts Day' in the city of Orlando (which is the image accompanying the interview), but before we were ushered into his trailer for our conversation, Disney officials told us we had exactly ten minutes to complete the assignment. But as it happened -- and as you'll hear -- we knew more than the average reporters who only discussed his role as Barney Fife. We asked about his family, about growing up in West Virginia, and other topics that he rarely -- if ever -- was able to share with reporters. This apparently pleased Mr. Knotts who was more than generous with his time. Not only did we far exceed the ten-minute time limit the Disney press people initiated, he and his manager invited us to lunch.
He was a beautiful, wonderful man who provided one of our favorite interviews ever.

If you're a Beatles fan who's ever wondered where the Indra and Kaiserkeller clubs were in relation to each other (and their initial lodgings at the Bambi Kino), this rudimentary video will give you an idea. Before I visited, I had no idea of the locations of the Reeperbahn, the side street called the Grosse Freiheit, or where they lived when they first arrived in August 1960. I discovered they...
Bob Dylan Musicares Speech February 2015

A legendary address by Bob Dylan, it's rare to find an actual video of his entire 40-some minute speech. Thankfully, some prescient attendee recorded this from her phone which gives us the chance to see (in cinema veriteé) what those in the audience saw. A man of few words or expressions (watch him as President Obama tries to crack his facade), for some reason he chose this venue to expound on ...

From 2003, one of the most joyful films I've ever seen has also been called 'Bodhisattva on the Metro'. In a perfect (and easily replicated) random act of kindness, the laughter of one man finds the mood of an entire car of commuters transformed in just minutes. Jan Hammenecker's expressions and laughter rivals that of Stan Laurel it's contagious and beautiful. You cannot watch this without lau...

    The only reason I can think for using HWY 441, which I often drive on, is that someone is moving a rocket from Alabama to Cape Canaveral and either took this route because there were no low bridges ( a major reason for transportation of large objects) or they relied on Google's shortest routing?

    • @NetRolller3D
      @NetRolller3D 6 років тому

      FiscalRangersFlorida SpaceX doesn't have a facility in Alabama. They build the rockets in California, and test in Texas.

      Routes are decided when the company hauling places a request for a oversize permit. Then the company/person driving must stick to the assigned route, which comes with the permit. Has nothing to do with the driver choosing anything. They also in "some" states depending on size have certain hours they can haul in. Which is why you'll see oversize loads parked in rest areas at night and by some large cities during rush hour. I once talked to a guy hauling an empty trailer back to Houston to apparently get another load which he said was going to be a record load hauled. The "empty" trailer he was pulling took up two lanes of the road and they always had those are what called escort vehicles permanently assigned to him, along with a maintenance vehicle. Not only did it take up to lanes empty. It could be opened sideways almost to twice it's width. And could hook up to extension of trailers for extended length. His trailer was possibly 35 yrds long. I think he was going to hook up to one or two more extension to be maybe 75 yrds or something. This was like 13-15 years ago so can't recall precisely. But when he left the asphalt road he went down left no room to pass. He also said when hauling that the loads were usually too heavy to be hauled on the highways and interstate. So they used dirt roads. And in some cases when they come to a bridge, they'd have to build roads around the bridges. Google doesn't have that type of routing. 😸 I think I added up close to 75-100 tires on the trailer he was pulling. Which had 8 tires per axle. 4 to a side. A lot of freaking tires. Which is when I asked him if he checked his tires daily. And that's when he told me about the maintenance vehicle permanently assigned to his rig.
