Good work!
Thanks!
German short-hair!! My sister has a few of them and those guys LOVE to just GO!! My boy, Herschel, is just a stray with some hound dog in the mix. Short trots for him with MANY stops to sniff! (so, definitely don't take him on my runs. He's more of a post-run cooldown walk boy)
Great job! I think my mile PR is 6:20. It's been YEARS since I attempted to beat it, but maybe I could try to set my "new" PR as a Masters runner!
You should do it! Haha.
Your recent videos arE good. With some strategic ediTing, they have the Potential to attracT a wider audience And generate More engagemEnt.
Thank you! Definitely still learning the ropes of filming and editing.
@@jakeyadao Welcome.
im going to name my next dog Jacob.
Great name if you ask me!
We are similar in our running stats atm. I like garmin and have just started doing garmin DSW’s as well. I usually try to stick to as close as the workout as I can. I’m just wondering why you are running so far off the suggested workout times if you are trying to follow their workouts?
Not on purpose! I struggle keeping exact paces and give myself some leeway based on how the current pace feels. I find my form falls apart if I feel like I’m running too “slow”.
Earlier this week Garmin gave me my first ever suggested threshold run. 3 x 8 min at 7:20 pace w/ 2:30 rest at 10 min. I'd like to give it a go, but 7:20 is very frightening! I was just coming off a terrible headache so I didn't try it, but maybe next time! I usually check the Garm suggestion, and aim for either the time or the pace, not normally both. I also don't enjoy running "slow for me". I don't like checking my watch a lot while running so I tend to just run however I feel.
Haha you’ll never know until you give it a shot! I’d bet you can do it - I’ve found the paces they suggest are pretty spot on. Yeah I hate that running slow is so beneficial - otherwise I’d never do it. Haha
If you click on the workout and scroll down to target type, you can change to heart rate. That way you get the benefit of increased work without worrying about meeting a certain pace!
Tomorrow is the conclusion of my 10k training block, so next week I'll be back on the suggested workouts too! sometimes they're fun-- other times, NOT! You're in CIM-- LFG! you got it man. gonna be a fun training summer for sure!
Good luck in your race!
Well done and stats are really impressive keep the good work up. I feel similar that Garmin have easy runs most days which I also struggle to keep good running form in slower pace. Instead I started to easy work in cross training to keep that heart rate for suggested duration. When I do easy runs I still try to keep same cadence as I would do in race just less stride length. Good luck with your Marathon and training. Personally I am no where close to marathon and have a 10k up in few weeks.
Thanks! Good luck with your 10k!
Video quality +100!!! 🎉
Thanks for your video. I really enjoyed watching. I've been doing Garmin suggested workouts for the second month in a row, and they are pretty good. And actually you can change Target Type in GSW from pace to HR (but fast workouts will still be using pace - and it's good IMO). Good luck!
Good to know! Thanks for watching!
Bro I love big band theory I can watch the whole show in one day
Great effort. What a great pool to swim in. Wish i could find a pool that empty 🤔
Thanks! Haha yeah not many swimmers at my local gym. It was also like 4:30am I think at that time. 😴
My dog runs .25 miles with me and then begs to be picked up. I push her to .5 miles then I put her in my backpack 😂
Gotta start somewhere! Haha
I don't know if you have plans for upcoming videos, but I think it would be cool if you did a week or maybe a month of training based off of your Garmin recommendations. I've watched similar videos and it's really cool to see the progress one can make in their general running fitness based off their watch. Great video!
That’s a great idea! 💡
super cool--- my Corgi def can't do what Clarky just did! Is he a Pointer/Doberman mix? .. asking for.. well. me hahaha
Haha he’s a German short haired pointer!
My boys!!!! Go Clarky!! ❤
I love to see you running with Clark! He clearly loves it too♥️
It’s his favorite thing haha
My Garmin also bully me saying my 5 and 10k time is slower than some weeks ago. You look very fast 🏃
I want the encouraging and kind Garmin. Why can’t we have that instead?? lol
nice video
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Nice job, man! The swimming is what would get me. I grew up with a pool, but not the biggest fan of the water 😂 Looks like you woke up pretty early for this one!
Haha when I was a kid I had one too but I was never a “swimmer”. Yeah I wake up early but this one was REALLY early. Needed my camera woman. 😬
Where is this?
Napa, CA!
@@jakeyadao Nice, looks peaceful!
What Garmin watch do you use?
I’m currently using the Forerunner 945!
First 1,000!!!
Nice effort! Love the new series|
Thank you!
Why ppl are obsessed with PRs and paces and times !!! I’m only running to feel good !!
That’s me for 50% of the year! I’m just trying to relive my glory days of being athletic through races 😬
@@jakeyadao those PRs feel good sometimes. i totally agree. Kudos man, best of luck
@@BratRadBrag thanks 🙏🏼 appreciate you
I could be wrong but are you running in napa?
You are 100% right! Napa is a great running city :)
Helll yea brother! Keep pushin💪💪
Thanks brotha 💯
Yeah mine is the same. Mine says 19:59 for my 5k. I got 22:10 that was pretty hard for me to get. Nice job
Right?? I think on our best days we would beat Garmin 😄
you should give mile splits during the run
Will do!
Congrats on your run man. I think you just need to up the mileage in your week, and before you know it, you’ll see those times coming down. Long base runs and interval training has been the key to my success on reaching new PRs. With added mileage each week and adding in these things, you’ll see those times come way down. I can’t tell you how much they have helped me for those long, intense, sustained efforts. Look forward to seeing your progress. Cheers!
100% agree. This past month has been garbage miles for me. I’ve been being lazy since Napa marathon on March 3rd. My next scheduled race is December 8th. Appreciate the support. ❤️
Can’t beat a bit of bug protein 😆 Another nice video mate. I too have a three day recovery period to try and stick to 👎🏼
Thanks! 😂 stupid bugs haha. I try to take that recovery time for running but did some cross training this morning 😬
I didn't really get along with my Clifton 9 let us know how you like them
Me neither 🤷🏽♂️ I ended up returning them and getting the NB 880s like I normally do. Worth a try at least haha
Well done and the afternoon runs are always tough and if nothing else it is a great benchmark. Good luck with future attempts.
Thank you! Yeah I’m definitely a morning run person. Haha
It’s good to see someone else in a similar fitness level to myself on UA-cam! Keep crushing these videos!
Thanks! 🙏🏼
Well done man. The only thing stopping you getting su 20 5k and sub 45 10k is your weight. I lost 8lb and went from 22ish for years to 20 47 im late 50s so you can smash it🏴😁👍
Thanks! Haha I don’t disagree. I’ve been eating and drinking carelessly since the marathon in early March. 😬
What weight are you right now? I'm training for a sub 20 and sub 40, and I know I need to lose weight to get faster
@@na-dk9vm idk if you were asking me or David but mine fluctuates a lot depending on the day and what I’ve eaten. Waking up in the morning right now I’m 163-165 but by the end of the day I could be 168-169. I’ve always been on the “heavier” side for my height (5’7”) - I’ve just got a wider build in general. If I’m eating clean, not drinking a lot, and mid marathon block, I’m about 160.
I'm about 147ish was 140 when I got my pbs. I cut out suger for 6 weeks. I was hungry most of the time🤦😂 but thats the price you pay for pbs. I've tried it about 5 times since unfortunately I love cakes and biscuits as much as running and fall off the wagon after a week 🤦😂
I'm only 5ft 6inch🤏and 57 i started running when I was 48
Best of luck to you & your training 🔥
Thank you!
Garmin predictions are for a race, not for solo run. When adrenaline flows in your veins and you have someone you can chase, running is much different.
100% - I’ll be interested to see what I can do during a race!
Strong work 💪..#solo attempt and a turn.. you got it on raceday!!!
Thank you!
Well done! I have similar that Garmin think I can run faster than I can at the moment. I think I am heel striking a bit and used to run below 180 steps per minut so hope even better running form will bring my time closer to Garmin prediction time. As Garmin nerd some more stats of your run would be interesting. Keep the good running up.
I feel like I’m a heel striker as well! I try to focus on feeling smooth rather than pushing hard which I think helps me not over stride. I’m also a Garmin nerd haha - I’ll add some stats to the 10k time trial!
@@jakeyadao Good luck with the 10k time trial. I also have a 10k race in a month and I hope Garmin is right with 48:32. Last 10k race two months I only had 169 cadence 😧much breaking force. Next 4 weeks I will try go have all runs in 180 cadence in different pace and concentrate on best possible running form see how it goes. 🏃♂
Good luck to you too! You got that!
Nice work! With a bit of adrenaline at a race I would bet that you’d hit the prediction.
Thanks! That’s what I’m thinking too!
Great idea and a great video. I’m invested now and looking forward to the results. Good effort BTW. I think you could beat that in a race.
Thank you! Filming the 10k this evening and posting later this week!
Good ❤❤
My bet is that you can run much faster in an actual race bc you can’t simulate race pace by yourself
That’s what I’m thinking too!
💕 Wow💗💗💚💗💚💚💚
Just subbed! Nice work👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks! Appreciate you! 🙏🏼
Mines at 20:57 and my last run albeit on a hilly course was 24:06 😭 My pb is around 22 mins though
Garmin is brutal! Haha. You’ll break the 20:57 in no time!
Best of luck with the training.
Thank you!
Song name? Well done btw.
Thanks! There were 3 songs: 1. Half the World - Judah Earl 2. Tastes Like Heaven - Beware of Darkness 3. From The Sky We Fell - Montear In that order! :)
You're not gonna run your best time in a solo time trial. Sign up for a race and you'll see that you can definitely run faster than that. The race predictor can be inaccurate, but in order to have a chance to beat it, for the 5k specifically, you need to do a few vo2max workouts up to 8 weeks before. Those whole two months are the most important to reach your true current capabilities. Also, for shorter distances like the 5k, the warm up is important. Run 10 minutes easy, then 3 minutes at tempo pace and then 2-3 mins easy. Then do some fence drills, a couple quick strides at race pace and then just walk around for at least 5 minutes to fully recover from the warm up, you'll see that your body will feel more ready and won't feel the shock from how hard you're trying to push right away. Best of luck, see you in Boston!
Thanks for the advice! 🙏🏼
