In terms of being a user/public facing engine, T3D is such a waste of effort. It's a shame 'cause it has some legitimately powerful features/functionality. They just make it so cumbersome and confusing to use. Functions that are straight-forward and take maybe a few clicks in most any other engine, requires a whole series of steps, in multiple different windows to do here. I just don't get why they insist on making it this way. The editor interface and workflow is the most unintuitive I've ever tried to work with, and it gets worse with each iteration. They seem determined to squeeze in as many different steps as possible for the most basic functions.

i agree a lot of potential. and pretty easy to get up and running. i just wish it had been taken further. however it is pretty fun to play around with and has some features much newer engines dont. there are lessons to be learned from it.

Forks have a tendency to die, i've seen it many times so im sticking with the core product for now . both redot and godot work exactly the same right now so i am covering both you think about it. I personally dont care about the woke "people" or any other politics i care about how the engine itself works how it charges for its use and how the development pipeline flows version to version. So far i am impressed with godot 4.3 even tho there is a whole different way of doing things i am really finding it flows nice once you start to figure it out.

Recently GDevelop updated their asset store license. Now asset store has both 'single use' and 'unlimited use' clause in a lot of the assets. By default, all assets which were previously purchased went into single use. This is unacceptable. The previous purchases should have unlimited use because there wasn't any clause about single use back then. Can you please cover this issue?

@@phawse I guess I'm doing much the same. I'm working on a platform built within Unreal Engine that isn't exactly an engine itself, but is entirely runtime and allows creatives to build games and experiences. It uses realtime visual scripting very similar to Blueprints itself, but focusses on the artistic control of making games rather than the technical. If someone still wants to make a complete game, they can do this but it shouldn't' require understanding the nuances of game development.

    • @phawse

so i haven't messed with the diagonal yet as i am finding with all the custom art i need to have i lacked the manpower to add that much extra art to every entity, paper doll, animation etc. I may add it but stay with the 4 direction graphics. As for the water i have yet to find good realistic animated water tileset so I'm sticking with my 16 x 16 grid of ocean pattern. what i will probably do is add a fog effect to mimic ocean ripple a bit and add a few animated tiles that are just wave motions of white cap and sit them 1 layer up on top of my base. Lots to do before i start adding extra eye candy though. maybe i'll experiment with that next week.
