This was a good video man . I was born with very very extremely wide feet 🦶 & i had to grow up wearing flip flops 🩴 or being barefooted 👣 . I played around 95% of the time barefooted 👣 & sometimes worn my flip flops 🩴 yo play in but 95% of the time barefooted 👣 because shoes were very very extremely difficult to find footwear for me that was wide . Wide shoes was very very extremely hard to find back in the early 70/80 . My shoes were crush my toes because my toes are Evenly straight across instead of being at a 45° Degrees angle like your toes are or everyone else toes are . Not mini people have toes like i do . My doctor said that i have what they call square box toes were my toes are Evenly straight across like a box . As i was growing up my feet 🦶 was getting bigger and bigger and wider and wider and chubby and chubbier to the point that now my feet 🦶 are a sz15 6 E wide ( which is very very extremely wide feet 🦶 ) with very very chubby fat wide toes that are Evenly straight across making my foot very very Extremely wide feet 🦶 at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe . I had to graduate from school barefooted 👣 because my foot outgrow shoes , socks , & boots . I outgrow socks 1 mouths before school let out for summer & i outgrow shoes 1 week before school let out for summer . I had to live my life barefooted 👣 Style for a whole entire year & 1/2 before I found a pair of flip flops 🩴 again that would fit my wide feet 🦶 because i outgrow my flip flops 🩴 as well & it really really Sucks for me because I was raised up wearing flip flops 🩴& i really really love wearing flip flops 🩴. Today that the only footwear that I have in my house . I don't own a pair of shoes , socks , or boots . I own only flip-flops 🩴& that's it . I have 6 boys & they all have very wide feet 🦶 too & they are going through the same problem that I had too . They hate wearing shoes , socks , & boots because they crush & hurt there feet 🦶 . When I go to drive my car 🚗 if i am wearing my flip flops 🩴 i have to take off my flip flops 🩴 to drive my car 🚗 , pickup 🛻 , or my Truck 🚛 barefooted 👣 because my feet 🦶 touch both gas and brakes pedal at the same time because of how extremely wide my feet 🦶 are . Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this video buddy .

Barefoot is one thing, barefoot shoes are another, barefoot shoes suck, we were meant to walk on sand and grass, proper cushioning mimicks that, barefoot shoes on concrete is not normal,

I have VERY bad, arthritic knees, & I've had foot surgery. My feet...esp the foot that had the surgery...are *extremely* sensitive. I can feel pressure in my toes from the drop in regular shoes. And I have very high arches...I need some support there...But I just ordered a pair of barefoot shoes. We'll see how my crazy feet like them. I'm hoping it'll be an improvement...

It's not an either-or thing. You UA-camrs make it seem that way. It's like long trousers or shorts, neither exclusively one or the other. I wear Lemms Boulder boot 50% of the time & zero steps a lot of the rest. Helped my foot strength & stopped my knee and hip & back issues. But i still wear my Red Wing Iron Rangers & normal hiking shoes & boots. Seriously, do people really fall for this 100% barefoot crap ?

I'm a bit of an odd case, cuz I got my five finger barefoot shoes mostly for my sensory issues caused by inability to move my toes freely and overheating. I can't go in sandals the whole year (not even cuz of the -15 celcius in winter, my family would just crucify me for that) so I hope that will be the next best thing. I already tend to walk with no shoes around the house or yard and I'm super excited to see if that will help me with adjusting to longer walks in the barefoots. Also can't wait for people from collage to see that the sandal guy transformed into a five-toe-shoe-weirdo for winter, my fucked up feet are always a great conversation starter XD Might update in couple months when I try them out

I have the Hydra shoe and I was a little disappointed when I wore them for the first time without a sock and got 3 (small) blisters on my upper foot in less than 10,000 steps! I love the shoes, (with socks) but I bought into the hydro hype, now I find I have to wear socks where I could simple wear my Teva sandals.

Started watching slow jogging videos and found out about barefoot shoes. I just got a pair of Whitins on Amazon that I want to try. They have an insole on them so they're not super barefoot, but they have zero drop and wide toe box. Gonna take my normal pair of shoes to work also tomorrow just incase but i didn't want to go super extreme off the bat. As dumb as it sounds im excited to see how they feel actually walking further than just around the house

In: Footwear Science. This study showed that barefoot running leads to more natural foot mechanics and can reduce the risk of injury compared to traditional shoes.

In: Nature, 463(7280), 531-535. This landmark study showed that barefoot runners tend to have a forefoot strike, reducing impact forces compared to heel striking in traditional shoes.

Maximum would be stopping just short of absolute failure and doing 1 or 2 sets before or after a workout wouldn’t do you any harm at all. You can make it more challenging by brachiating (swinging from one arm to the other), performing active/passive hangs or hanging from different objects (a circular, textured bar is very different to a square, slippy bar)

I love mine. They're everything I wanted primus lite 3s to be and don't feel like plastic bags on your feet. Vivobarefoot is the most overrated brand in the barefoot shoe game. If we want to make barefoot shoes accessible to the general population, $150-200 price points are unsustainable. Whitin shoes on Amazon are even better than Vivo imo. They're not even quality at this point, it's just marketing and greed masquerading itself as an ethical company. I think they used to make good quality products, but like a lot of companies they lost their way.

Ever since being a teenager I couldn't do long walks without coming home to blisters, sore and hurt feet, not to mention ankle rolling multiple times. Every shoe I bought would hurt on a different spot, but always hurt. The first two barefoot shoes I bought would still hurt because of being small. The minute I found my size and how much wiggle space I need, I'm not buying a normal sole shape shoe anymore. I can easily do 1 hour walks and not have any pain on my feet. And also work standing for long hours and still be fine. I don't know how people get used to pain on their feet like that.

Nice field test. Were the rocks in the river mossy-slimy? Even If not man-made a slimy riverbed is the most slippery thing after ice. I use felt soled boots for wading/fishing. They are very good on slippery river beds but awful at hiking. These sound like a good compromise if they deliver on those rocks.

are they decent for an everyday walk around shoe or even strength training? or do i need to go with a more all-in-one model.

All these barefoot shoe videos are like some kind of weird cult religion sales pitch. Presumably funded in some way by the barefoot shoes industry. I accidentally watched one, and now I’m getting them all over my feed 😮

I buy beach shoes for £10! Cannot see the difference with fancypriced barefoot shoes.

Autumn and winter is coming, I’ve been walking with wide sandals or barefoot whole summer and I haven’t found any good barefoot shoes in Sweden get 😩

I'm surprised people have a problem going to barefoot shoes. Do people never take off their shoes ?

I think most problems can be avoided if one starts walking barefoot and only buy barefoot shoes afterwards. 😂 You wont do to much in the beginning anyway cause it feels uncomfortable and you will try to find soft grounds for comfort. Also one starts walking different and more slowly anyway just to avoid pain. After that, you are ready for barefootshoes and you know what to look out for. 😅

How would you compare these to the vivobarefoot esc magna forest? I'm interested in a set of barefoot boots for long hikes

Apart from being wide toe box and zero drop they’re completely incomparable. The Magna Forest ESC will give you a much more engaging hiking experience while these, with a substantially thicker sole, will *potentially* let you hike much further at a time if you’re newer to barefoot shoes or struggle with day long exposure and are happy to trade off for ground feel. Both are definitely a premium option. Personally, as someone with a lot of barefoot hiking experience I’d take the Forest ESC’s all day but would understand why people would opt for something like this

Tired of shoe manufacturers not being able to make sues true to size. We can fly to space but cannot make shoes true to size. 😂❤

Thanks for the great review! Since you've tested these for a while I was hoping you could tell me if you recommend them for a very-long multi-day hike? I’m heading out on an 8-day trek in Borneo, with 5-7 hours of walking each day. My feet will definitely be submerged in water-up to knee-deep-multiple times per hour, so getting completely soaked is inevitable. My main concern is confort while walking in these shoes for a very long time. Would you recommend them? Thanks a lot!

You could definitely hike in them all day assuming you’re already used to wearing barefoot shoes BUT for a multi day trek in Borneo, I’d suggest checking out the Jungle ESC, basically the big brother of the Hydra and made for long, multi day treks in a jungle environment. I tested them out in the jungle of Indonesia and did a video on them here: VivoBarefoot Jungle ESC || Tested IN a Jungle ua-cam.com/video/jMoBMjJ3zBc/v-deo.html
