Very helpful!!
Exactly my sqme problem, attempting to get the elastic in on my serger. The rubber elastic is its own whole animal.
About 8:00 the technique begins, clearly explained.
I haven't been able to open the link to your blog post for more details. It generates a warning about an unsecure site. Thought you might like to know! Why a cover stitch and not a server stitch with the blade disengaged? I haven't tried either. Just wondering!
Nevermind! I just sat with the idea of serging vs cover stitch for a moment longer and realize it totally wouldn't work 😅
Ugh -- so frustrating!! I love knits but they are so challenging!
Wonderful instructions. Thank you!
What model is this machine?
i made my sister the power sports bra and she really liked it!
Would you please make a video to show how to make ruffed and gathering with Brothers Serger 1034 DX? Thanks
Your videos are great but I just want to mention something about the zigzag stitch you're using. You keep saying a 3-step zigzag but you're actually using a regular zigzag. The 3 step can be more stretchy but obviously it's not needed if you're not getting popped stitches with the regular zigzag!
These sew along videos are helpful, thank you! The angle of the recording does make it a little challenging to follow (for those new to the pattern/sewing). When showing the pocket placement, only the few top inches was visible and the fold you were mentioning was hard to see. The ability to view the whole piece (or most of it) would be helpful.
Thanks - this was super helpful!
I finnaly got a serger... And then found out I don't need it for activewear😂😂😂... Amazing video, thanks for all the tips❤
Thank you for this video. I will use my serger instead of buying a gathering foot!
Ah! Serging onto the clear elastic first before introducing the other layers is the tip I needed. Thank you!
I'm so glad to have found your video! Thank you for very clear instruction, this will hopefully help me finish up a dress 😊
The author was so attentive to details, inclusive of many factors/elements, and articulate in explaining. Fantastic! 👏👏👏
This is a great video I have owned the pattern for… 4 or 5 years now and I’ve always been so scared of it, now I am definitely going to do it !
Can you tell me what video is for preventing skipped stitches. I am using a very light stretchy fabric (for lingerie) and my machine keep skipping stiches - always on the left needle, I changed needle twice, tensions on the thread, stitch length, differential and pressure foot. I even changed all the threads for Gutterman. At the end it was not too bad but still a few skipped stiches. It is not a big deal as it was for the hem of the lining for a dress but I would have liked it perfect.
why would you put the twill tape on, nd how would you slide the straps up and down, if you just put it through the front slider?
i do not understand, how to do the straps that is adjustble
The only problem I have is the black fabric makes it kinda hard to tell sometimes what exactly you are doing. But other than that great explanation!
Thanks so much for making this video, it was so helpful. I don't understand why my brain couldn't figure how to do this, but I'm so grateful for creators like you for sharing knowledge!
Hi it’s extremely hard to see how much you turn under! Did you by any chance realise that there are sewers who do not have fancy machines but just one sewing machine without all the fancy stitches ? So your video is useless fir me.
Actually, I sew with a vintage 1935 Singer that sews with a singular straight stitch. Even this said, I could use this approach. Thank you for the video! ❤
Thank you very much -- you helped me understand much better how a gusset is sewn into the pants (which was quite confusing to me beforehand)! 😘
Thanks for this. I’ve been struggling with doing a double binding on a petal T-shirt for weeks. My fabric is a nightmare and keeps rolling. I’m going to try your single fold technique.
Thank you that was most helpful.
Good tutorial but why so long winded😢
Terrible colour to demonstrate... can't be seen easily
Thank you for your video. That helped me with my project.
Thank you Sarah for these great videos! I am sharing your videos with the Apparel students at Brigham Young University Idaho since they are so well done. We have the same coverstitch machines in our sewing labs and have been looking for expert help to use them correctly and efficiently.
Knits have no weft or warp threads . Therefore knits have no grainline.
Wait- do we only cut the triangle off the pattern on ONE side? I’m doing the Tempo and it never said that! Now what do I do as I’ve cut the gusset out of both pieces- and we normally cut mirrors at a time….
I've recently started making my own sports bras and I found your videos so very helpful! I'm ready to get into swimwear for our vacation coming up and this video was extremely helpful!! Hearing names of fabric websites and patterns online is super great for someone who is just rediscovering the love of sewing!
Thank you so much
Thank you! Very helpful! I've already cut my expensive wool jersey off-grain and saw all the creases on the resulting leggings. Your video explains why!
Do you have any tips on figuring out the seam allowance on a serger? There's a guide on a sewing machine plate, but a serger is a little more difficult to assess.
Very helpful. Can’t wait to try it
Is this pattern designed for the gusset?
Thank you for your videos ,they are very helpful 🥰can you please 🙏 make a video about finishing the top of invisible zipper with neck bias binding
Sarah, Thanks so much for this video. I've tried your technique but did not do a very good job. Any tips on how to prevent the coverstitch from being wavy? I had a difficult time keeping the coverstitching straight over the seam toward the ankle area. Also, my coverstitch stitches were off because of all the stretching and pulling. Any additional tips? Thanks again for the video.
thank you for saving me- i couldn't work out why my shorts were about to be ridiculously short!! it all makes sense!
Thanks so much I hoped someone would explain this to me!
Thank I have used your video for the last few years. You explain every step so well
There's no skipped stitches because the coverstitch machine is a Babylock. This can be much more challenging on other domestic coverstitch machines.
Reverse cover stitch video ua-cam.com/video/pbuJIPucMu4/v-deo.html
wow now I want a coverstitch machine! I'd love to see the triple straight stitch side. Why is it caller reverse coverstitch?
Because the seam is being stitched so that the reverse side of a one-sided coverstitch is on the right side. Some coverstitch machines can do a double sided coverstitch, but if yours can't, this is a way to get a similar look. On a double sided coverstitch the right side of the stitch is flat. The reverse side always has loops, so the side with loops ends up on top when you do a reverse coverstitch.
Any particular brand or source for good quality CLEAR elastic? Thanks
