Hi my key only doesn't lock or open my doors

What does the clips bit do at the back. Is it just pressure it needed.

My card is good to start the engine but it keeps locking the car without me pressing the lock button. Moreover it does not unlock the car. What can I do.

I've just bought an empty case and after I fixed the problem I slipped the electronics into the new case and the two halves clip together without the need for glue. Handy for the next time it needs repair. Probably a Chinese product.

There is a small transparent bezel around the card key entry slot. It glows at night so you can see where to put the key. Is it safe to file this down to allow a slightly larger card slot? I have a silicone cover that fits over the card, but it's too big to go in.

never throw away a card or key or remote for a vehicle even if you think it is no longer working. the reason for this is there is either a soldered on immobiliser chip or a removable immobiliser chip which is programmed into the vehicle. all you do is remove the chip and put it into the new one, it will save you getting the vehicle reprogrammed. for the soldered on chips you have to de-solder the working chip and solder it into the replacement key/card circuit board after removing the chip which is already there. with the card type keys you just order a new plastic casing from either a wholesaler or ebay and place the circuit board inside it and glue around the mating surfaces when pressing both parts togeather, but before glueing the casing shut test the card first just incase your card is still faulty. with the new card casing you have 2 choices, either repair the card by resoldering dry solder joints and replacing the coil or use a donor card and swap the immobiliser chip. on the renault cards the chip is the rectangle one with renault you cannot use a second hand key or remote and have it programmed to the vehicle as the chip is blank when new and is actually coded by the vehicle, this can only be done once, you have to purchase a new uncoded key for a renault if you go down the programming route. by the way the new smart keys as well as the card keys all have the vehicle mileage stored on the chip inside the key.

I don't have to put my card anyway near the card slot to start, which would lead me to believe it's a battery problem in your card. How do you get into the car if the card isn't detected to unlock the door?

Jeeezzzz do you really want to do it when you can get a new key card in decent price??? I wouldn't dare doing that to my car or key card, I got a new one from keycardservices.co.uk/ for only £90, why bother with doing all that and possibly damaging your car?

would repairing the card reader like you have done cure the solid red light and stop button on dash that's why it won't start.
