Follow your heart! Having a "wrapped" finish is nice in regards to being less prone to scratches and scuffs. If you're playing out a lot, get the wrap. The satin finishes really leave no hiding space for scratches. Either way, an excellent drum kit at an incredible price.
@@rufusdrums8831 thanks for the feedback! bronze on this one is an actual lacquer though, which I like. I just wish it was a champagne sparkle kind of hue. Bronze looks fine but the wood grain is a bit more appealing and neutral to me. but then again satin vs gloss. ughh choices
@@kimseniorb Oops, you're right, that's a paint job! Been a while, thanks for the reminder. Regardless of what you get, you'll love these drums. I would say if you prefer the look of the wood grain, go for it!
I like the way you are working your left hand. Are those triplets ? Sound great. I'll try that maybe not as fast.

they have such a paiste vibe to them with a shorter decay though. i am stunned how amazing this line is. never expected they could make anything better than hhx. please share your thoughts though!

@@NortsGhoul Our general rule of thumb at Rufus is tighter bottom than the top. If I remember correctly we had a classic set up here, Coated Emperor on top and Clear Ambassador on the bottom. Properly cracking the glue before application, seating the head, and stretching the head while tuning is also crucial to the final sound.

I love my 5. But gosh that 6.5 might need a new home.
Drummer was great!!!… I’d still like to know what the actual Gretsch Renown Maple kit sounds like though. This was a demo of the player’s skill, not a demo of this particular kit. Most of his playing was the on cymbals and not one, BUT TWO snares that aren’t even part of the kit.
Way too many UA-cam drum demos are guilty of this, whether it be from manufacturers, drum shops, or random owners of the drums. They don't let us hear what the toms or kick sound like in isolation, or just in general don't give enough time to playing the toms enough. The worst ones are when they spend most of the video playing grooves using the hi hat, bass, and snare. And like you said, when they're supposed to be demoing a shell pack that comes without a snare, the focus of the video becomes a snare that isn't even being sold with the shell pack.
These drums overperform for the price.

You weren't kidding about the projection. Love the med and high tunings. I've been playing on a Supra 400 5" for decades, the Copperphonic has a deeper tone for sure.
