The 'Treaty' verse variation In my earlier video (ua-cam.com/video/PMn7RC-zy2Q/v-deo.html) Leonard sings more or less the first verse of 'Treaty' in the song 'Diamonds in the Mine'. On 6 and 7 March he does the same with the second verse of 'Treaty'. At 3:30 following verse (that does not appear on the album version) begins: I haven’t said a word since you’ve been gone That any liar couldn’t sa...

I have loved Leonard Cohen for a long time.
His reply about whether he’s religious is odd because clearly he was. Even at the onset of his career he confessed that his only concern was whether he was in a state of grace and if he wasn’t he would just go back to bed. My guess is he didn’t want to be identified as religious because we conflate being religious with being dogmatic. Who can deny that he was basically a mystic in disguise as a celebrity songwriter?
That cigarette holder...
Powerful powerful powerful
Sadly missed 😞
Wasn't it Leonard who said 'never let the truth get in the way of a good story.' Comedy lost a true genius! I loved him from the first time I heard him when I was walking up a staircase ( ah the symbolism) aged 15! Iam now 69. I didn't believe he died then & I don't believe he is dead now.
Thanks for reminding us This Great Artist, Peot, Thinker and Visionary
Leonard visiting Belgium means there’s still hope for the country.
The noses don’t lie. They are all in bed together
I truly have never seen a man with so much suffering on his face and in his body, and he still keeps moving forward. Truly an inspiration for the broken.
Thanks so much for uploading this.
This is analysis of Leonard and his methods of writing and poetry. Leonard gives an honest assessment of his work and he enjoys talking about poetry. Leonard sees the world and he tries to understand his life in the world. He is constantly searching his relationships for understanding.
Is there a way to see the whole unedited interview? It must exist!
the LIGHT in his eyes tells me all I need to know. God was there, even though he didn't fully obey Him. Once a Cohen, always a Cohen. Set apart for God. No wonder he touched many lives...it was his Heavenly Job here on this "broken hallelujah" of a planet... ...we call earth.
I bought Thanks for the Dance. It is on my bookshelf unplayed am keeping for a darkest of nights, ain't happened yet,Merci Leonard❤
Such a wise, humble and gentle soul. World is darker without you Leonard. God bless you brother x
❤
Leonard the comedian/philosopher. Such a complex dude.
Way ahead of his time both as a Canadian and a human generally. Thanks for your light Leonard, Montreal and our nation are so much more empty without you. Such a loss that’s still felt
My first contact with Leonard Cohen was through this wonderful work. I remember how excited I was to have discovered a true genius!
people actually beat him up over his poetry? Wow! clearly those guys lack in more than just creativity. Leonard probably apologized, he's that kind of man. what a gem he was, straight and narrow with his answers/responses...truly not one to mince words, he mastered them. thank you for the inspiration!
God damn i love Leonard Cohen so much. There will truly truly never be another Leonard Cohen. Never in a million years, will someone come along with such understanding and depth, understanding the absurdity of life, as well as its beauties.
how the hell have i never seen this?
Leonard Cohen's Hallajuhah is about David revealing the Biblical " Flesh is weak but the Spirit Willing " God called David a Worm for the weakness of his flesh but called David " A man after his own heart " for his Spirit, The 1982 Hallajuhah in the Malayalam language goes as "aha aha aha Hallajuhah" The Laughter of God --- Father Son Holy Spirit
Thanks for all the interviews~ Beautiful cover too Hope you are doing well
Leonard was truly a Cohen. Such wisdom for the people. For me, Leonard will always be a man who spoke to the soul, not necessarily his own "plight" per se, but I believe he wrote for others as much as for himself. He observed and analyzed behaviours of others, sometimes himself involved, to a degree, but mostly what we can all relate to. We are here, why waste time. Share and bear the soul. Everyone should write poetry, paint, take pictures and be inspired. You never needed a certificate. Just hopefully you have two legs and two arms, eyes to see the beauty around you, the colours around you. How you experience them, is how you perceive them. Share them with the world around you. Someone will notice...this is the human condition. You can be in relation, without a ring on your finger. Engage yourself to the moments life brings. Embrace the darkness and the light, both have been given to us. Grace from God, He made them both, for His purposes and our benefits. we have ups and downs. we always will. keep going ahead... theres more to life than what it brings...stop killing what was never dead... A story from long ago, talks of a dry path made by parting a sea... to trust and move forward, GO THROUGH the waters, is a true destiny. Don't be afraid of your potential, success and failure have nothing to do with human will, we were never born with either. And if you believe you are one or the other, you don't know the meaning of life. Life is too short to limit oneself to the constrains of the worldview. Keep it safe and respectable, never down someone else, don't over sexualize anything, meaning pervert anything, and listen before speaking. You will learn so much from someone else who has been there, wherever you are in life right now. Inspire others without YOU as the focus, thats not cool. Just be creative and share. Have a wonderful day.
Amazing interview. Your channel is a real gift, as is this great man. Keep it coming!
@13:53 mins, made me cry. I love them too. Was a nice little ode to and to hear what others love and feel blessed by.🐦 Glad I listened to this. Tx
Thanks, guys!
I really wish I grew up with this era of the CBC
Stop re looping video it's patronizing to the people watching them
Leoanrd Cohen should’ve just said: “what are you on about?"
Fk me. He’d be cancelled today for saying this… Thanks Leonard...
Poor Adam found this very difficult you can tell...
Interviewer was spot on, listening an staying with Leonard. Thoughtful with the answers he got. Excellent camerawork bringing it all together in soft cohesiveness. Like very much the interviewers smiles about his subject showing how he liked his man. The cigarette holder is fun. Hadnt known he was such a cute guy back in the day. Do remember well listening to his early stuff in the wonderous 60s while at UC Berkeley reveling in all of what we had then.
He pick carefully each word from his soul ❤
You can tell that Adam here knew that he didn't have much time left with his father - you can see it in the way that he looks at him and hangs on all his words in the knowledge that there might not be many moments left to savour.
Don't defend Americans, defend humanity, global
It's remarkable how cogent the man was given he was just three weeks away from death...
Leonard here and Leonard at the last two decades are drastic… it shows in his speaking and in his eyes and softening of his face. I’m so happy to know he found peace in the end. LC in London in 2008-2009 was such a treasure. Austin City Limits was another great small concert. ❤🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️
It is fitting that he passed the day Trump was elected so that he was spared being exposed to the nightmare.
Oh spare all of us including Leonard .
Such a good joke that nobody laughed at about Dylan. 😂 If you know, you know!
This video has that soft analog tv sound I love for interviews.
Interviewer has aged badly, Leonard is timeless.
One in a million.
Guy's clearly in a hurry, still manages to be super respectful and say thank you to every member of the crew at the end of the interview. I'm a journalist and trusts me that is truly called CLASS.
We’d expect nothing less from our dear one
I like him even more than before...
I love all these hear felt comments and im a cinic.
