Bukharian Jews very rarely mixed with Uzbeks or other Central Asians. The 3.7% South Asian is likely misread Central Asian, but the majority of our DNA comes from West Asia.

No update for this sample yet, but another sample I manage received 100% Bukharan Jewish

Or maybe our ancestors didn't mix much with native Central Asians? you can search online for multiple results of Bukharian Jews from 23andme or AncestryDNA and all show majority West Asian/Middle Eastern with very little to no Central Asian. And even on youtube there are other Bukharians who shared their myheritage results and did not score much Central Asia.

How do we know what stands for "Central Asian" DNA? All contemporary dominant groups in Central Asia are actually the results of migration from Inner Asia. Thus, Uzbek or Kazakh DNA fails to be an example of Central Asia since they arrived Central Asia just a millennium ago. But Jewish population had been settled in Central Asia long before the arrival of current dominant groups in the region. Based on Persian roots, categorizing the result into West Asia is not accurate either, because actually Persians had arrived into iranian plateau from Central Asia in IX-VIII centuries BC.

What exactly does Semitic in regards to dna ? That’s a linguistic term not a genetic one. The vast majority of Jews have levant dna but they’re mixed with whatever populations they lived with in diaspora
