Answering Your Questions: Following Torah, Parenting, Homeschooling, Headcovering & More | Q&A
Today I'm answering questions submitted by my viewers! Check out the list of topics with time stamps below to hop around to what interests you.
2:36 Why do you follow some laws but not all?
7:19 My daughter asked today if we should be touching unclean things in our dog’s treats and what to do about it.
11:13 Why don’t you talk about parenting?
14:48 How to raise a Torah minded family with today’s modern culture and societal influence?
23:00 How to parent an adult child who is an unbeliever. How to better encourage and be a light.
26:31 What is your favorite style of homeschooling?
33:13 Regarding food: what do you cook for yourself and your family, and how it relates to your dietary choices.
40:11 Why do you wear a head covering (see playlist here: ua-cam.com/play/PLeZIaxNYztJ-eovBJn4GFu8JcXwJ0pZRk.html&si=rBgW0n65yRvTk7PT )
42:10 Does head covering refer to prayer alone also? Or is it prayer and prophecy in public? And where can I find in the Bible that we have to cover the head when we are married?
47:15 What if a divorced and now single woman wants to wear a head covering?

    Don't feel guilty for selling easy to make products. What is easy for you might not be easy for others. Also shopping for the fabric, thread, etc. is time consuming and also some people might not have a sewing machine. I love your shop and your head covers. Keep up the good work!

    Hi Sarah, referring to the earthen vessel, I bought a used cast iron pan. Should I not use it?

    • @HopeCottage_Sarah
      @HopeCottage_Sarah 3 дні тому

      Hello! Cast iron doesn't absorb oil the same way stoneware does. Instead, it "cooks" the oil to the skillet to form a layer of seasoning. It's a process called polymerization. There are ways to remove that seasoning and take your pan back down to the metal surface and start over again with an oil that is acceptable to YHWH. If you search, "how to remove polymerized oil from cast iron", you can find some methods of doing this. Shalom!

    It was commanded in 1 Corinthians 11, but even before that it was Jewish custom. You can see that with observant Jewesses today. Orthodox Jewish women still cover their hair when they get married. It starts with the bridal veil, but then after they spend time alone with their spouse after the wedding, they are required to wear a head covering of some kind. Some women will wear a wig. Others will wear a snood. They are required to cover all of their hair. When St. Paul commanded it he was speaking for God because all of the Bible has equal weight. St. Paul wrote it and was divinely inspired to do so. He was writing it to a church within the larger Church where women were not covering their heads. He wanted all women to cover their head at least in church. He said in the end that if anyone is inclined to be contentious, we have no such custom here. In other words, we have no custom of praying uncovered. St. Paul was one of the first bishops of the early Catholic Church. All churches within his diocese, except for the one, women practiced covering their hair. However this custom was meant for church primarily. It was practiced throughout Christian history until the modern age. Women always covered their head until about the Victorian era where they would only wear it in church and when they went out in public. Then it became only in church in the 1950's. By the 60's it became seen as optional because of women's lib. Women's lib killed the centuries-long practice of head coverings. My church requires them in church but it is optional outside of Mass. It makes sense to me, though, that women should be wearing them daily as they did until the Victorian era. Nuns still wear a veil all day every day as part of their habits.

    Which calendar do you follow? I’m still looking at different ones.

    • @HopeCottage_Sarah
      @HopeCottage_Sarah Місяць тому

      Hi! We follow the lunar conjunction calendar based on Genesis 1 which tells us the sun, moon, and stars were given to determine the calendar. So the first new moon after the Spring equinox determines the first day of the year and then every new moon after is the beginning of each new month. Sometimes this gives us a 13th month (second Adar) so we end up celebrating much later than a lot of other people on different calendars those years. 😊

      ...because the hair instead of a covering hath been given to her... In your own selves judge ye; is it seemly for a woman uncovered to pray to God? doth not even nature itself teach you, that if a man indeed have long hair, a dishonour it is to him? and a woman, if she have long hair, a glory it is to her, because the hair instead of a covering hath been given to her;... -Young's Literal Translation (YLT) Does even nature itself not teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him, but if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her? For her hair is given to her as a covering. -NASB A woman's long hair is the 'covering'. If a fabric covering is actually required, then all references to hair are totally irrelevant to the subject. It only can make sense if the long hair of a woman is the 'covering'. She should be covered, with her long hair. To have short hair, like a man, means that she is basically bald. Therefore uncovered.

    😮Why am I here?My online (and telephone) girl-friend refused to talk to me after I hung up on her. Ha Ha. Oops. So I've been writing dorky poems and have had no luck. Now I've moved on to calligraphy copperplate/spencerian script for writing her a fictitious 19th century love letter. I thought I would swing by to see what you had to offer. Thanks, FBT😮 My character's occupation is cartographer and he is on a job to map and verify Dr.Livingstones discoveries in Africa. My letter makes its way to her via an Arab slave trader that he(I) ran across. My handsome and suave character's name is Don Miguel Antonio De La Flores. ...any thoughts? This is regarding the prior comment by @marriage4life893 John 21 speaks nothing on a command to wear something on a woman’s head. It is when Jesus appeared to the disciples and told to cast on the right side of the net, when Jesus questions Simon Peter 3 times, talks about John and the innumerable amount of acts Jesus did. 1st Peter 5 also speaks NOTHING about any command on head covering. Why would someone blatantly lie about Scripture?

    Plain fact of the matter is they are just believing and teaching what they have been taught for years. I was the same way. I had went to one of the top Bible Colleges in our country. Came out believing like everyone else. It wasn’t till 2010 when I was arguing with Torah Observant people online and realized I was losing my arguments scripturally that I realized I was taught wrong all these years.

      Yes, just inheriting lies. I used to feel a shame that I wasn't smart or good enough to read the Bible and understand it by myself --- I thought I needed more godly and smart people to tell me what it meant. I wonder how many church leaders feel that same way.
