@@theimperfecttesla quick update. Tried fitting it today. Failed. The soft close mechanism is too long On my 20024 highland China build it has a large plastic tube like fitting running along just below where the lock fits so unable to line up the bolt holes. Emailed satonic. Hope they can help.

@barriewhite9733 ahhh looks like they changed things with highland. There’s a soft close option for highland. If you didn’t get that, maybe Satonic can swap it for you. Thanks for the update. Much appreciated

lol. Gotta grow them fingers. It does not close the doors. There are mods to self close the front doors but that’s a serious mod. Model S and X have auto close front doors by default. #nextlevelthings

Fair point. Would be nice to be able to set city vs highway limits but at this time, it’s only one limit. But even with city, if you set it to say 50mph and the person is driving in a 30mph, they would still be able to go over the limit. Maybe setting the limit to not be more than X miles than limit so as the speed limit changes, the set limit changes. We’ll see how this setting changes over time.

@@theimperfecttesla This must be the solution! This new feature is likely only phase 1 of a broader, more refined rollout. And if the child has access to the app on their own smartphone, might they be able to control the parental controls and work around them? Kids are smart and they always find work-arounds.

@mtapperdds it requires a passcode so unless the kid knows the passcode, they can’t turn it off

So this applies to all added drivers? Have Model 3 and wife has Model Y, if I set parnetal controls on both cars does this mean I'd ne limited to parental controls on her Model Y? We use pin to drive so now have to enter Pin 2 times?

@ConfusedAstroStation-mb2ch it applies to all driver profiles but it stays with the car. So if you set it on the model Y, all profiles on the Y will be limited but the same profiles on your model 3 won’t have it until you set it specifically in the model 3.

Yes, I was able to fix to the MY headrest. You can raise the headrest and I think I had to almost remove it but it has been super helpful for the kids

I love the no buttons but I’ve been using the passenger door opener (I have a door with child lock on), AC fan control and wiper controls a lot. It’s not for everyone but it’s handy for those that want it.

You’re right. The light is powered by the emergency release button which is always on. I doubt it’s a significant draw though. I’ve not noticed any impact on battery in the time I’ve had this. I’ll see if I can find out if it shuts off when the car goes to sleep.

@@theimperfecttesla thx for video. I just installed the led light but same issue with drunk switch not working. I wanted to make the wire adjustment based on your instruction but just wanted to reconfirm if the led light will stay on all the time. Is this the case? Or will the light goes off when the light switch in frunk goes off?

@mfgjhy123 I tested this and no the light does not go off. Because it’s powered by the emergency release button which stays on, the led stays on too. Having said that, I have this installed for over a year now and no issues whatsoever. It’s a low powered item

Hey. Following up. I was doing something in the garage with the frunk open and I heard the car power down after a few minutes and the lights in the frunk went off. The emergency button light also went dim to green. So it looks like the lights do go off when the car sleeps.

Thank you. I agree with labeling the tag. There are options on Amazon for custom luggage tags. You can choose to order with custom text or even a sharpie writing will work.

Yes, you get it with FSD (trial or subbed) but it goes away after the trial. AMD cars keep it after FSD trial. Why they don’t keep it after trial for Intel Atom, not sure.

Thanks for the reminder. I asked and the tech guy said he hasn’t heard anything like that. He doesn’t know if it’s possible but doesn’t know either way. It might be one of those thing where someone says no and another person says yes depending on the SC 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

This option is only availible for Model S and X's only.

The issue is not what’s happening now but what could happen later. What’s happening now is just the initial insights of how those models are beginning to be excluded. I mentioned older S and X and even older 3s had to get upgraded computers to use FSD. Question is what happens if a major update comes out but intel atom cars are excluded because their computers aren’t powerful enough.

The cable is supposed to open it but I just tested mine after another comment and it did not open it. I’ve reached out to the company for updates about that. I’ll post back once I have a response.

i was watching again your video installation why the release cable wont work and i see the problem. you installed backward the motor the release cable bent so you cannot pull all the way try to reverse the motor make sure release cable is straight to the motor

@@theimperfecttesla i order the item last week and i use the code you told on your video. untill now i dont recieve it yet..But for sure thats your problem reverse the motor and pull the cable make sure you can pull all the way. The release cable is for first actuator how about if second actuator wont open . Do you think the release cable can unlock both? tesla they have 2 actuator in the frunk

@jbbeltran379 cool. I’m sure you’ll get it soon. The emergency cable connects to the latch mechanism. I think if you pull all the way, it will unlatch both. When I test, I’ll let you know

I actually went back to go test the cable and you’re right, it did work for me either. I’ve reached out to Satonic to ask why it wouldn’t work and I’ll post back once I have an answer.

That function is a back safer after a long day’s work!

Older S and X are able to move to MCU3. They have to if they want FSD.

@@theimperfecttesla hey it's MCU2 not mcu3.... I know because I have it. Mcu3 is AMD ryzen and cannot be installed on older S or X due to incompatible power and cooling capabilities

Yeah, I agree. With the game updates limited too, definitely looks like GPU can't handle it.

Correct, it's not impossible for those updates to be pushed later for Intel but at some point, we'll start seeing limitations of Intel.

Absolutely. That’s just how tech works. One day the AMD will also be outdated and something will replace that too.

You are probably better off anyway using the parking sensors instead of the parking visualization….

We had one car on 2024.8.9 or so the other on 2024.3 like you but both got it. I’ll say go to your software update and see when the last check for updates was and see if it says current date. You might want to do that back to back a couple of days. Don’t know if it works but each time I’ve done that, update always shows not long after

@BillySays you can also switch between standard and advance for the schedule. Advanced is supposed to get the updates sooner but I sometimes switch to standard for a few minutes and switch back. It’s a whole science with these updates. lol

@@theimperfecttesla I got the update just a few minutes ago. Yesterday at night, I checked my the software page, it showed up to date. Today, I did nothing, it just popped up on my phone notification that update is available.

Teslas are basically computers with drivetrains, honestly. It's the same reason you can't get a good use out of a computer from 10 years ago. I do agree they could have used a better processor to start with but as the tech becomes more complex and needs more computing power, it's bound to happen. AMD Ryzen won't be so hot in a few years either.

Well, not really. Intel vs AMD so far hasn’t posed a limitation on the core functionality of the car. For now it’s some differences here and there and this is a graphics difference. Market hasn’t started pricing based on processor but if they start limiting driving functionality based on processor, like saying FSD 15 or Tesla AI only for AMD then that will start a problem. At the core though, they both have the same “engines” and batteries which are the main things

@@mikapeltokorpi7671 I don't get that point. The atom works fine, yes it will at some point not get the newest features but other cars have the features set in stone at purchase. I still se many cars with tegra chips still driving around.

But the car view exists in the same way on the left pane. It's just making it fullscreen. I get that still requires some resources but then maybe not make it spin. Maybe you can only turn to the sides. This is kinda making it obvious some cars are inferior. You could not tell Intel vs AMD Model Y by just looking at it but now, there's a more obvious sign.

i tihnk you underestimate how weak the A3950 is. These older atoms are fine for lightweight embedded applications like routers and low end nas devices, they have no place in anything that a user directly interacts with, the ui slows it down a lot.

There's a setting for dark mode but I never actually looked back at night to confirm if it turned dark. I'll check and let you know.

I thought the same. But they changed all the wire harness to have different connectors and the cables are different to begin with. A retrofit wouldn’t be possible without ripping out a lot of other things. The 2022 and 2021 looks the same on the surface but lots of changes under the trims

Yeah, I think it's more than the processor. This came up when AMD started coming out and the answer was always no but who knows, we'll see what happens in a couple years, maybe there'll be a retrofit option.

This would be a hardware update so depending on the platform design this might not be possible without major replacement. If thats the case look for other stuff to not be supported over time with new software updates.

​@@lashlarue59it's just a computer at the end of the day. Really shouldn't be too hard to repackage it for older models, including associated connectors.

I’m sure processors will evolve and change over time but it might be a few years before they move on from Ryzen

@@theimperfecttesla The Intel Atom chip that Tesla uses is the Atom N450 with integrated GMA 3150 IGP. Tesla's 12 nm Ryzen APU beats this rubbish Atom.

Intel N or even J series (jasper/alder lake) ran at max 6 - 15 watt beat any Intel Atom and even some older core-i series at significantly lower cost than AMD cpu. Hope they will use these instead.

you’re right, there were better options then. Tesla probably thought cars wouldn’t need much processing power and went with atom when they started the model 3. I won’t be surprised if they follow Apple and start developing their own processors

@@valenrn8657 It's atom X7 A3950 (apollo Lake). It has an 18 EU intel HD 500, but yes, that is no where near the processing power of a dedicated GPU with the AMD board.
