this was by far one of the coolest ways to end a trial. Dynamis giving form to the prayers for your safety by the Scions is so fantastic, and ngl the Scions themselves are one of the best uses of the 'found family' trope imo. Minfillia said she'd hope that you'd come to see them as family, and i think her wish has been granted by this point. God i love this game!

That moment where she starts recoiling and fleeing? I knew we won. We broke her. Once the music kicked off, I felt like the Hope of the Universe.

Leaving here incase anyone sees this in the future and are confused as Ricktator was during the intiial viewing. That cutscene is a metaphor or gross over simplification of what was going on during the actual Final Days, shedding just enough light into Venat during that time. First, the Ancients tried a LOT of stuff to fight off the coming destruction. They didn't realize it was external to the star, they thought the threads of aether were just unwinding. Second, they basically adjusted their creation magik to align more with what we know as summoning, eventually figuring out how to summon a primal. Finally, the Convocation decided to summon Zodiark. His one and only job was to stablize the aether shroud around the Star (initially). A lot of Ancients had already died, but of those left, 1/2 gave up their lives, willingly. Venat had to let this happen to allow the time needed for the "master" plan. This left the star stabalized, but still basically destroyed. So they sacrificed 1/2 of the now remaining to bring back life to the star. Then, the plan was to sacrifice all that non-ancient life to bring back all the dead Ancients. This is where Venat and her followers stepped in. Up to this point, we though she and her followers were just tired of the killing. But now we know, she did it to allow mankind to, simply put, control their feelings, aka learn dynamis. Even IF she informed the Ancients of meteion. Even if she revealed the threat was outside the star, the Ancients WILL ALWAYS LOSE against Metieon, because they can not interact with dynamis. When her followers sacrificed themselves, Venat became the heart of Hydaelyn, (like Elidibus became heart of Zodiark). She did physically fight Zodiark , eventually expelling him from the planet, and then sundering the world which split Zodiarks power, the Aether in mankind, and set forth the 13000 years for mankind to evolve and grow and through suffering, learn joy. The hits Venat takes are up for each persons interupretation. Most assume its sunderings, it could be more just fights in general where she helps the world advance. Regardless what the "hits" are, the 13000 years takes a toll, as she truly does love all life, but she has to endure watching them suffer to one day have a chance of living. She slowly burns through her aether, and thus the weekend steps. And after all the debates, the confusion, the wondering of where Hydaelon was all this time, we finally learn, she was there there, walking with us. Also, as a side note, Emet-Selch wasn't torn. He was alone. And you see the first trace of that desire to fix what happened, no matter the cost. When the plan to summon Zodiark was announced, the only member of the Convocation to be against it was Azem, who stepped down and left. No records show where they went during the final days, but it wasn't with their people. Then his best friend volunteered to sacrifice themselves as part of the 1/2. Finally, Venat , goes into open rebellion against the Convocation. His entire world, physical and emotional, fell apart.

One of the funniest realizations I found in the second half of the Endsinger fight is one of her attacks: Telomania "telo" as a prefix means End / final "mania" is defined as a "period of delusion or fantasy" so the Endsinger is literally hitting you with the attack Final Fantasy

This is where the endsinger loses control of the situation and OUR boss music behins

Not sure if you'd be interested, but I'd like to inform you about some things. Yaldabaoth, AKA The Demiurge or Samael, is the God of the physical world in Gnostic text. Gnosticism is basically the precursor to modern Abrahamic faiths (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, etc). Anyway, Yaldabaoth was created by Sophia, the personification of wisdom and a god greater than Yaldabaoth, made without the permission of the other Gods. When Yaldabaoth was created, he was unable to perceive the other gods and believed he was the creator of all things, going on to create the physical world, including Adam. However, he could not breathe life into the man, as he had no soul and Yaldabaoth had no connection to the Pleroma (basically where the true Gods reside). Sophia gave the human a soul, bringing Adam to life. Bitter and jealous, he proclaimed, "There is no other God but me!". He also created Eve to help keep Adam ignorant, until a serpent (either sent by Sophia or is Sophia herself) tempted Eve, grating her and Adam knowledge of their spiritual nature. Yaldabaoth expelled them from Eden and has tried to keep humanity ignorant and subservient, so they could worship him. In Gnosticism, the physical world is considered evil, due to it being created by an imperfect, arrogant God who allows bad stuff to happen. True heaven is to escape from the physical world and reach true heaven, free from Yaldabaoth's influence. As for Satanael, he is also a figure from Gnosticism, said to be Satanael's right hand man, his most loyal and strongest follower, as well as his first son, existing well before Jesus Chris and really, before everything. But Satanael learned that Yaldabaoth was a false god and amassed an army of angels to rebel against him. In the end, Satanael was defeated and cast out, losing the "ael" in his name. But despite failing to defeat Yaldabaoth, he was able to break Yaldabaoth's control on humans, granting them free will. In some versions, the serpent that tempted Eve was Satanael, rather than Sophia.

They did that zoom on Aerith’s bow for a reason leading into the final Sephiroth fight, I’m sure. No Holy Materia; but I’m not sure which Aerith that alludes to. Maybe just implying that accepting her fate here meant surviving in a different timeline.

i think that the final scene with Zack doesn't have a stamp on it cuz he's in the same world as Cloud right now and the devs don't want us to know that yet

Some really fun details to mull over as we await part 3 trailers: * Masamune changes angles significantly when it glitch-swaps. A camera roll partially conceals how much. After the glitch, the angle is one that the clone would have intentionally stabbed the sword into the ground at. * The blood that runs under the Masamune comes from the direction of the Sephiroth clone. * Look at the clone after he pulls the sword. There's just a few frames where he's standing in full view. Look at his feet. Blood is pooling under him. * Why the above items? Take a look at the Jenova Lifeclinger description in Assess. * Given the above, this means the clone is trying to trick Cloud into thinking he failed to block it. Why? Sephiroth needs the loss, despair, rage to finish the confluence. See: Sephiroth Reborn's description in Assess. * Neither Princess Guard nor Great Gospel were in this game. That means they're being saved for part 3, which can mean only one thing. * When the Weapons got the glow in their orbs, it was white like Holy. This occurs after the world is reinstated with the proper Holy and it falls into the water. Connection or coincidence? * During the credits, every scene with Aerith being present is removed - except for the very last one where she's watching the plane leave. There are multiple conflicting theories about what Aerith is in the ending, and they all have evidence in their favor (creepy music / head turn after the burial, Red sensing her, her only appearing when Cloud is looking at her, no wind interaction after Cid asks what she did, but then wind interaction at the end from the propellers). Perhaps several or even all of the theories are true, but applied to different parts? * The very first world split we saw came in Remake immediately after the Arbiter is slain - something Aerith says will lead to freedom. We know from Rebirth's final bits that "Omni-Aerith" can funnel people between worlds, but apparently only after the Arbiter was destroyed. It seems the very first thing she does with this power is go back and save Zack by yoinking him (and a Cloud) into another world before he is supposed to die. * Other worlds did exist before all of this, though. The Black Materia was stowed away in such a pocket realm by the Cetra. Did they once have a power similar to this? Or was it just impossible to move people because of the Arbiter, but maybe a Materia would be allowed? Or maybe the Arbiter, being the planet's will, had to approve the hiding of the Black Materia (which it would) but wouldn't approve Aerith saving Zack? This reimagining is SO GOOD y'all.
