    when you press the box at about minute 4:07 You may need to hold the shirt key first then click the box and then the part and then group.

    You need to make the holes for the pin slightly bigger

    I know this is an old tutorial, but I pretty much followed these steps, ensured my holes were the exact same size as the pins...ad they don't fit... will making the pins a fraction of a mm make that big of a difference or should I just file them down and handle it that way?

    • @guncla
      @guncla 2 місяці тому

      When printing or using cnc machine, it's always important to calculate some tolerance (usually a difference under 1mm between pins and holes on a FDM printer) to make them fit. A little bevel on the edges of the pin could help too

    At 1:33 you "pull out two boxes". But it looked like you were just dragging in one it was so quick. Do I assume when the first box landed you just hit control D but omitted to mention you did that ? Obviously I'm a newbie. For us its helpful to not assume too much and mention more of the things you do behind the scenes, even though they're often basic and trivial. Nice video. Thank you so much.

    There is a problem with this hinge in terms of it actually being "functional" though. It seems to be a common thing in many youTube tutorials, and I think it's because if revolute joints are applied, the animation will make it will appear to work no problem. The ACTUAL problem that would prevent this hinge from working can be demonstrated at 18:19 and the 23:00 minute marks. If you pause the video at 18:19 you can see that the edge of the top plate protrudes past the 3 cylinder parts. So that protrusion will prevent the two cylinders of the bottom hinge to align with the top three cylinders. You can also see it at the 23:00 mark. That corner edge of the plate? How is the cylinder of the other plate going to align with that cylinder if you don't remove that corner edge?
