Don´t scratch
Don't scratch is my selfie movie about my finish of the Silk Road Mountain Race (SRMR) in Kyrgyzstan. A self supported bike packing race in the harsh and remote mountains in the former russian republic. 1850 kilometres and numerous mountain passes, some of which are almost 4000 metres. An adventure far beyond the ordinary, but also with considerations about whether a cycling race of this caliber is the right way for me to meet a new and foreign country and culture.
Don´t scratch was awarded "Best Nordic Film of the Year" at Nordic Adventure Film Festival 2022.

    Saved this in my 'watch later' list for a good moment. And I'm glad I did. Great achievement and honest video. It is not always good times on the bike and most of that shitty time is mental stuff. Looking forward to the new season in 2024. Hope to ride to Denmark again :). Do you have a link to the 'Cross Denmark'? Or is that something you made up yourself?

    It doesn't appear to be very well made: ua-cam.com/video/o7xfGuRaq94/v-deo.html It's just a simple dynamo at the end of the day, way overpriced for what it is.

    Great work on both filming and riding! Although I don't get why this race has become so famous, it looks ridiculously difficult with very few enjoyable to ride stretches. I feel ultras have become a competition of who is going to introduce the hardest version... Kinda missing the point. What's your thoughts as a finisher?

    • @JakobCarlsen
      @JakobCarlsen Рік тому

      Thank you Giorgo. I think that for most racers it is about testing themselves to the limit, at least that's what its about for me. I haven't raced that many races and can't comment on how they have developed. For me, Arizona Trail Race is more the kind of race I like, it is still redicously tough, but it is more fun to ride with more varied terrain and a lot of single track that I enjoy.

    Hello to all, i used the pedal cell dynamo during the Atlas Mountain Race in 2022 and here is my summary: it totally failed!!! Too much resistance (absolutely annoying during the race) and too low velocities during the race (brutal surface conditions) showing almost no outcome to charge a device. A 15Watt solar panel saved my ass during the race. Good technology but practically useless. I already wrote an email to pedalcell regarding my opinion but never got any reply. Best regards from Germany.

I guess they already realised that excessive speed was a failure mode for the generator! But simply telling your users not to ride too fast isn't really a proper solution to poor manufacturing..."
