    Thanks Alikki. Beautiful video and great topic. I find the mind always conceptualizes everything, even the idea of being self-aware. We experience Presence only when the mind is silent. I like Eckhart Tolle's suggestion of taking 3 conscious breaths several times a day, and when doing so, feeling the aliveness of our bodies through our senses. He says this is more effective than meditating for an hour because it's spread out during the day.

    This was so timely for me. Hahaaaa! I could not sleep last night because an incident from some years ago kept playing in my mind. A plan fell though, words not spoken, doubt about a friendship… I ask myself why is this coming up when I’m trying to sleep? Finally in the wee hours I fell asleep. Now I am awake and watching your video thinking how do I move from psychological time and thoughts into the present (sleep time)? Why does the brain do this? I’m relaxed snd ready to sleep and the brain says “Oh no… now we are going to review every problem, every friendship, every event in your life including conversations that may or may not have happened! Sleep? Oh, not for you, my friend! I’m here to entertain you!”

    • @AlikiReddy
      @AlikiReddy 3 дні тому

      LOL, I love the dialogue. Yes, I think many of us are familiar with that voice - especially around 3 in the morning… 🙄 Your question is actually part of the problem which I have tried to expose in this video. Rather than asking, “How do I move from psychological time and thoughts into the present?” realise that presence is your natural state and that you keep thinking your way out of it. This provides a very different perspective of the situation because now you don’t have to try to do anything. You simply need to realise what you’re doing that’s taking you away. Personally, I find that taking deep, conscious breaths always brings me back to presence. Of course, there may be many thoughts bothering your peace and sleep, but just keep coming back. 💜 Also, you may find this video helpful: ua-cam.com/video/76wPucTJ3eQ/v-deo.htmlsi=M1GL5rdP7vuZTqE9

    Thankyou Aliki😊 Thankyou for your video. Again, we share commonalities in knowledge and experience, I feel. I wanted to share my experiences here. Yes, all of the mental preoccupation with things like fear, worry, lack takes out our energy. And those things can and do often become our identity if they are not released. Yes, the ego is what we painfully believe about ourselves. The ego is often discussed as originally forming in childhood. I do guess that the ego can be created later in life too. And without releasing our childhood trauma (which is maybe sililar to ego?) from our nervous system or understanding what influenced it to form, (and that influence being what continues to drive our thoughts/painful beliefs into adulthood), we can be controlled by it our whole life. Yes, being conscious as you've said of feelings or how you feel is one important daily practice. Can I ad, if I'm misunderstanding you, to be conscious and to sit with sensations in the body until they dissolve is important for releasing resistance and pain , or trauma. I know that all three are not the same thing, but it seems to me that these hold similarities. I know it's true to say that childhood trauma can control people their whole life unless it is released. And it has to be released from the nervous system to heal it. (And it can lead to chronic illness if not released). In my own healing, Somatic Experiencing for my nervous system was my first practice, and that allowed me then to open my mind and to become more conscious of myself. It was almost impossible before. And it has only been very recently that I have been able to connect my childhood relationship with my father to the pain and self beliefs that have constantly controlled one important part of my life throughout my whole life. In gratitude😊

      Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences, Leslie. 🙏The third book I mention in this video: ua-cam.com/video/2JwPcXvyT7M/v-deo.htmlsi=n20vUXhe6wKgL6BJ - Practising the Power of Now, describes the connection between what we call the ego, pain and trauma. I think you'll find the section called "Pain Body" helpful. Quite often the mind trips us up by wanting to figure things out and understand things intellectually. This is why I personally don't go into too much detail about the things that you mention. I know there are many valuable authorities who do (Dr. Gabor Mate is one that springs to mind) and they are giving their gift to the world and fulfilling their calling by speaking message of empowerment in their unique way. However, from my personal experience of working with people with complex emotional needs, I have found that those who are strongly identified with their story of the past and who keep validating it by a desire to understand or overcome what happened, are the ones who suffer the most. I also know (from people like Dr. Bill Pettit and Dr. Dickent Bettinger) that there are those who were able to have an insight and see the connection between their thoughts and present reality, and they were able to experience a full recovery. ❤

    • @lesliemctavish4300
      @lesliemctavish4300 4 дні тому

      @AlikiReddy Are we saying the same things? I think almost.😉 Realizing what happened to us in the past can be a catalyst of letting go and healing and expanding. Sometimes we need to know to move on. Choosing vuctimhood will keep us from that. "When trauma is released from the body our mind opens up." ..."Trauma can stop our thoughts from forming and stop our ability to think" This is what I experienced. You've made think and you've challenged me. Thankyou.

    I was so lucky to have a next door neighbor elderly woman when I was a child. Being in a very punitive and invalidating family, I was attracted to visiting this neighbor who treated me kindly. To this day, at age 72, I remember her asking me such questions as, "What do you think about this?" or, "Why can't you?" or, "What's holding you back?" or, "How OLD are you now? Old enough maybe to decide for yourself?" Without her in my life ( I believe GOD put her next door!) I wouldn't be the person I am today, which is pretty strong, I think, with autonomy, but also, compassion and kindness. I love your video!

      @@b4ubeen929 Hello Bisrat 🌺Thank you for your comment and your question. God is also in you as life. 🥰 I see a great connection between the “real” spiritual life and our daily life. I believe one of our problems is that we divide and separate things, whereas the nature of life and God is oneness. If you watch some of my longer, weekly videos, you will find they are all about the real spiritual life and how to live it practically in today’s world. But perhaps I will create a new video, talking specifically about the real spiritual life as I know there is much confusion and misunderstanding about this topic. 🙏🏻 I’m happy you can understand me clearly. That's what it's all about: when you wake up and can't wait to get up and live. Live ones purpose. I do ask God to show me direction because sometimes I just don't know. That direction is around money. Is it the Christian God? Not really, and it is kinda. What that does for me is I feel life has my back. I feel comfort. And I've started practicing self compassion by following the work of Kristin Neff. That helps my heart and my relationship with my mind or to experience myself differently. And as far as my purpose goes? What is it? To see and be connected to nature. Beauty. Practicing awareness in nature helps me feel connected to me= purpose. Sometimes I've thought that there is no greater purpose, sense of being alive, and bliss for me than being in nature. The nights when I lie on the snow and look up at the sky and just feel, but not think. That's when I feel true bliss and as though life is there for me. And as though all of creation is❤ Thankyou for showing up in the world and sharing your life experience. For many people, they have difficulty letting go of their thoughts and it runs their life. Me too at times.

      @@lesliemctavish4300 Your connection with nature has always been inspiring, Leslie. 🥰 The thought of you lying in the snow, looking at the sky brings a smile to my face. 💕 Yes, it’s balancing to feel more rather than thinking all the time, but we all get caught up in our thinking. As long as we remember it’s virtual reality, it can keep us on our feet in the dance of life. 💃🏻 Our ideas about money can be quite problematic. We don’t realise that by thinking we need more, we live in a constant state of lack. “I need more money,” energy is self-fulfilling. We have much to see and become free from. 😘

    I also recommend Eckhart Tolle's Stillness Speaks. It explained why I felt such peace in Nature. Quote: "we have forgotten what rocks, plants, and animals still know. How to BE... "To bring your attention to a stone, a tree or an animal does not mean to THINK about it, but simply to perceive it, to hold it in your awareness. Something of its essence then transmits itself to you. You can sense how still it is, and in doing so, the same stillness arises in you."

    An absolutely stunning video. I will def try to get a copy of The Untethered Soul. My first life-changing book was The Power of Now. I read it at a time when I was filled with self-doubt. After I read about the "pain body," an energetic field which we mistakenly identify with, I disengaged from these dark feelings and told it to go. It was like a dark, heavy cloud that left. I felt much lighter afterwards. Another book I recommend is Oneness by Rasha. It describes how our perceptions of ourselves and the world change as we awaken. "By consciously choosing, in one's darkest hour, to reject the vision of hopelessness that seems inevitable, and to choose instead the knowingness that the outcome will reflect your highest possible good, you open the doorway within to the place of loving trust that will lead you home."

    I never knew a book could have such a direct and profound impact as Untethered Soul had on me. It really connected a lot of dots and tied a lot of things together that I'd been kinda trying to piece together for a while now. I hope this video reaches all of the people who need to find these books. Having read two of them, I know what I'll be reading next! You really do have a way of explaining things, even your short narratives helped me better understand what I gained from the books.

    I belonged to the Booknotic group. The Untethered Soul was one of the books in the groups. I listened to this in a hypnotic state … if that makes sense. 🤷‍♀️ I enjoy the Wisdom Cafe as it has exposed me to different ways of thinking/understanding. I was not a fan of Tolle until I actually listened to him and read, through you, some of his writing. I’m coming around in my thinking. 😊 It’s about time, isn’t it?
