Clean Cheap Shots is a UA-cam channel dedicated to the sports card hobby. In this channel, I hope to learn and share the history of sports cards and the stories of the people portrayed on them.
I will be showing some of the cards in my collection, providing hobby thoughts and information, and occasionally opening packs. Additionally, I might slip in an old comic book or two in my videos.
Lastly, I will be featuring stories of the men who grace the Topps 1953 baseball card set.
Thanks for joining me.
Drew

Episode 90: A panel of baseball's storytellers. Why is it important to tell those stories?
This episode is a little different than what you normally see on this channel. Four baseball storytellers join me as we talk about why they bring to life stories long forgotten about baseball and it's rich history. If you like a little old school baseball trivia, then this might be for you.

Gave a video like. The Boyer and Munson cards are stunners. All great additions! Thanks for sharing the reveal, Drew.
I got pretty lucky with a couple of these cards. Thanks.
Nice video. cool channels. Enjoy your weekend!
Thank you.
Great Video Drew. Super people to have. I enjoyed hearing their stories about how they started in the community. Super Trivia Questions. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you sir. We had a good time getting to know each other's origins a bit more.
Hey Drew. Sorry I’m late with the comment. Took me a while to grind through a 71 minute video. Nice job hosting and a nice conversation. Have a great weekend.
I targeted 45 mins max and we went way over. I cringed posting a long video like this and I don't expect people to watch it all. Thanks for watching.
What a great live stream. I enjoyed learning more about each of your stories, and sharing your knowledge of the history of the sport. Well done! I appreciate Gordon's words at the end, Fortunately not many trolls here, it would be great if everyone, was mindful of their words, myself too.
Thank you very much for taking the time to swing in. We had a great time getting to know each other better and understanding why it was important to tell these stories for each of us.
Great discussion guys! Really enjoyed it! You should get together again.
Thank you very kindly. I appreciate that. I decided to try something different. These are great guys with great channels. It was a fun time. We may do more of this in the future.
Hello Drew, a very interesting and informative video. I learnt a lots listening this video with thoses great guys. Thanks you for sharing and Happy Telling.
Thank you. I appreciate it. We had a good time.
Drew, cannot thank you enough for your invitation. I had a great time talking baseball and history with you and the guys. We have so much to share with each other and the fantastic card community. Looking forward to the next episode.
I am honored that you agreed to put up with my nonsense. I had a great time and I learned a lot from all of you. Until next time...
Great cast of characters and very enjoyable to listen to. We need more of this format and content❤
Thank you very much. I wanted to do something a little different and hoped that these channels would join me. I know this video was longer than most, so I appreciate the time you took to watch it.
Really great conversation here!
Thank you kindly.
Great interviews. Great panel. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year sir.
Great video Drew. Sorry for commenting so late I could’ve sworn I checked this one out previously. Wonderful vintage cards. They really are the best. Better than all the fancy shiny ones of today. Thanks for sharing. Be well. 🤙 14:38
100% That vintage has far more character. Thank you sir.
Watching here right now🎉❤😊
Thank you.
GREAT panel of guests with Mike, Rob, Gordon & Hugo. I'm always drawn to the content creators and what inspires them. 🍻 to you and the people that are part of the UA-cam sports card multiverse!

A great collaboration of collectors and stories. Thanks for hosting this!
We had a ton of fun and got to know each other much better. I learned a lot from these guys.
Gave a video like. Really enjoyed the discussion on telling stories in baseball and shedding light on players of the past. The history of baseball deserves to be remembered.
Hey, I appreciate that. These guys really tell great stories in their own and unique way.
I love Drew's statement that there are no "common" cards, and that every card and player has a story. This panel is a perfect example of how content can illuminate and keep alive the history of players who might otherwise be forgotten. I find it fascinating the wormholes that cards can send us into and the things we can learn just by following the stories of random players. Great video guys, except I would have won the trivia.
Your knowledge is too deep, Dan. It wouldn't be fair. That's why Ken Jennings hosts Jeopardy and doesn't get to play.
Thank you Dan for the very kind comment. I avoid saying "common" for so many reasons. I know this was a long video so I do appreciate your time. I see you throwing down the trivia gauntlet.
Drew just so you know, I was the first like this morning before heading out. I watched half of the content this morning and am now just finishing at 2:30. Wow. I have to say this was a great collaboration with five great story tellers. Five of my favorites. You all have pulled me from the Jabs family type videos to videos about the history of the game and players I wouldn't necessarily have known. I've realized something today, I have to go back and watch videos I've missed that you guys recorded. You guys all put your hearts into these stories and deserve to have them watched. If I can critique you guys some regarding do overs. Don't change anything. I tune in because these are interesting and tell us about the story in question and of yourselves. They don't have to be hollywood production quality. Thank you all for sharing these wonderful stories.
You are the man, Dan. Just say no to Jabs! 😂
Yes, I did a long time ago. Great job again👍
@@theathletearchives lol
Sir, I can't thank you enough for the very kind comment. I don't want these great people and their stories lost to time and I appreciate you, for believing in the same thing. I knew that I had to get these guys on because of the commonalities we all had. I have read over your message several times. I really appreciate the sincerity.
Your so welcomed Drew.
Great video featuring five of the best storytellers in the community. I enjoyed hearing about your favorites, what you'd do differently, and your approach to videos. Rob, I never knew you didn’t edit. Your videos were already impressive-now they’re even more so. Gordon, just be you. Passion is often confused with the volume of one's voice. I’d rather listen to someone who shows their passion through research and how they present it, rather than how excited they sound. I enjoyed hearing some different voices in this format too. Rob you did well in your first UA-cam interview. Take care!
Thank you for taking the time to watch as I know this was a long video. We a great time getting to know each other a bit more and sharing thoughts. Thanks again. I hope the guys read your message here so they catch your comments. I will likely pass it on to them when we talk again.
Thanks, man. If I tried to fake things I wouldn't be able to keep it up. Same reason I don't dye my hair. 😂
Thank you for the kind words, Terry!
Nice entertaining and informative interview show- I hope you do more like this. I’m impressed and humbled by everyone’s knowledge. I would have gotten a big zero on the trivia segment! Thanks for sharing and Good Collecting 👍❤️
Thanks Robert. We had a great time shooting the bull and learning more about each other.
Oh man, great panel. Can’t wait to watch this when work is over.
Thanks Dan.
Great conversation and great guys! Lots of smoke coming out of the ears during the trivia questions! I only got part of the first question, Eddie Mathews and I remembered thatLuke Easter was shot and killed outside the bank. Good stuff guys! 👍🏻
We had a blast. Thanks for taking a look Jim. I appreciate your time.
It was a great time hanging out and talking baseball with you gentlemen. Thanks for inviting me to be on Drew and for putting it together. It was nice to be indoors to escape the harsh weather conditions we’ve been having lately!
Thanks Hugo. I really appreciate you joining in. Your winning 1953 card with bonus cards, will be sent tomorrow.
Well, this was a real treat to wake up to!! What an impressive group of guests (and the host is fine, too). Seriously - this group has added so much depth and color to the vintage card community, I’m so glad they all do what they do and share their gifts with the world!!
Ok Mookie, Ok...I'll start rooting for the Mets. Geez!
Very kind comments Mookie. I really appreciate that. Speaking for myself, I wasn't sure their was a ton of people who cared about these stories like I do. Thanks again. I know this was a long video.

Thank you sir. Roger Craig for the HOF!
Great return Drew! Boyer in a 9. That’s a crazy good grade. The 68 set is difficult to grade. It’s hard to see things with that burlap background.
Thanks Jason. I hope you had a great weekend.
I absolutely love buying PSA cards that are graded 3 and 4 like that Dick Williams that look really nice. But sending them in for grading would be a little tougher to get back but it is what it is. Like the 68 Yaz, Seaver and Boyer. Nice Bando as well. Great share as always Drew. Stay safe during the snow storm.
Thanks Steve. It is fun to see what I will get back. A little like Christmas for me. Thanks Steve.
Hello Drew, i love yours pickups ! I remember very well about the Sam Jones story you had tell in one of yours 1953 Topps set videos. Very fun VR story. The Angels will ask you a payment for thoses balls...😁 ; they have two witness(es) : Paul Sorrento and Alfredo Griffin "the german"...🤣. Thanks you for sharing and Happy New Year.
Good luck to the Angels in finding me. lol Thanks for stopping by and for the comment.

Thank you David. I appreciate your comments and I hope you have a great weekend as well.
Nice Kate Upton , answer there all beautiful? celebrity's that are married to athletes?
A correct answer for sure on both accounts. Thanks.
Love the vintage cards. Enjoy your weekend!
Thank you sir. You too.
My experience with Morris Cards.....They're Have horrible graders

They seem to be off 1 to 2 grades in my experience.
@@rockcundiff1761 I agree.
That Munson is a beauty
I was lucky to find it at a decent price. Thanks.
Great reveal. Love that Sal Bando, I got to meet him at Mike Hegan’s Grand Slam (Batting Cages) in Milwaukee.
Oh man. I wish I could have met him before he passed.
Wow Drew! That Boyer in a 9? Congrats! Great return overall. I’ll take Psa 4s that look that good all day long. I think 68 is a tough year to grade. The burlap seems to hide imperfections. I have a few 68s coming in soon that I will be most likely be sending in soon. We will see how I do. Thanks for the reveal.
Thanks Joe. Very lucky to get the 9 on Boyer. Overall, I was happy. Thanks for taking the time to stop by for a few minutes.
Hey Drew. I may be in trouble you keep getting great grades on your Vada run. That Boyer in a 9! Holy Cats is right. Great all-around reveal! Sicko!
I was super surprised on that Boyer. I will take it! Plenty of time to put that Pinson run together. I am not close to being done.
@ hahaha. I saw a Boyer in a PSA 9 sold north of $200 on the Bay recently. But I’d keep it. How often does that happen getting a 9 back in a vintage card?
@@The_Cincinnati_Kid 9s are hard. My crown jewel is a Rickey Henderson in a 9. I have Bobby Grich as well in a 9. Very tough to get that 9. Oh, and I have a 1956 in a 9, but with an OC qualifier which I disagree with. Upcoming video that one.
Even though some of your grades are a little bit lower than expected, it was a lot of fun to watch you reveal your slabs.
Thank you. I am still puzzled by a few grades but overall, very happy. Thanks for watching.
Overall, I thought the grading was reasonable. 7’s and of course a 9 on sixties cards is dynamite. The 4’s for sixties cards aren’t a disaster. I tend to believe creases and wrinkles will mostly result in 3’s or lower. Great buys on the Seaver and Munson. Could you imagine buying a $30 blaster and pulling either of those cards? You’d be over the moon! Thanks for sharing and Good Collecting! Neat MJ BTW👍❤️
Overall, I agree with you. You pointed something out worth talking about. A $30 blaster with Seaver or Munson would be a home run or a "banger" as they say. I would much rather have those cards than anything they are producing today. Thanks.
Well done Drew! I got a few chuckles and some great flash backs of those lovely ladies! . Nice Bobo! I used to have those Spidey issues. I sold off my comics a while back. Thanks for sharing. Well said on your final comments
Thanks Warren. I have a ton of comics yet. Hard for me to sell them off. Appreciate you taking the time to stop by and watch.
I’m done with the hope Boyer gets in. The era committee this time around I thought was his best chance to get elected. As players from that generation pass he’ll be slowly forgotten. And you know it pains me to feel that way. Nice returns though, Drew.
I am not giving up. We need to keep pushing Boyer's name. Hopefully, they wake up. Thank you sir.
Look at you skimming past that Jordan display real quick! Nice 9 on the Boyer. That’s finer’n frog fur I tell ya! Cool shot on that Munson card. Looks like you sliding into home in Bellwood
I could not get that darn Jordan in the camera frame. Rooke mistake. lol Um, not sure I scored in Bellwood. I wish I could get hypnotized to forget about that game. lol
Hey Drew, your 68 HOFers is coming along nicely. You picked a fun and historic season for your project. I live through the submission experience through channels like yours. I don’t have the personality for it. Haha. I like both Boyers in the 66 and 67 sets with the Mets. He looks good in blue, white and orange, and I love tbe patch on his sleeve. What a nice Seaver card too with the rookie trophy. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you sir. I can certainly understand why people would not want to go through the grading torture and hassle. Happy New Year sir.
Nice returns! Hope you had a great holiday season and happy new year!
Thanks for dropping in and I hope you are having a great start of 2025.
GREAT PSA reveal! Turnaround times seem long from PSA. I'm looking forward to using this grading service in 2025. Love all the Chicago White Sox players! Thanks for sharing, Drew
