Hello! My name is Ollie. I am a church bell ringer and I live in Norfolk. I have been ringing since 2012, have always been interested in churches and, more specifically, the bells and this led me to start learning just after the London 2012 Olympics. My goal is to create a visual database for church bells across the world so future generations can look back and see this uniquely British tradition and how is has developed over the years. I hope you enjoy the channel and if you do maybe consider subscribing to follow the page and keep to date with my travels which I record this usually forgotten piece of history!
As of 28th November 2020, the 'Ringer Ollie' channel started it's new season. This time round we are focusing on unique rings of bells, single bells, and rings which are at risk of being lost. As well as some additional extras which may be of interest at a particular time.

The Bells of Haselbury Plucknett, Somerset
The church of St Michael & All Angels in Halselbury Plucknett holds a ring of six bells. The y are rung from a ground floor ringing chamber, and were last rehung by Mears & Stainbank in 1949. The bells were cast by three different founders between 1735 and 1949. The three trebles and 5th were cast by Mears & Stainbank during the year of the rehanging. The 4th was cast in 1884 by Llewellins & James and the tenor in 1735 by Thomas I Bilbie. All six bells are hung in a cast iron frame, made in 1949 by Mears & Stainbank. The tenor weighs 6-3-14cwt and is tuned to 'A'.

The six bells hung in the tower of St James' Church in Preston Plucknett, a suburb of Yeovil, were hung in 1868. A single bell cast in 1588 by John Wallis is listed for preservation. What a fantastic set of bells just one question how do you stand the bells, I notice a counter weigh on some of the bells. I keep thinking about building a small demonstration bell as maybe a recruitment aid or just to show what happens up in the tower. As I'm sure not many of the congregation will know how we ring .

But i quite like this light 8 in somerset apart from the 5th.

what i can do is rounds and call changes on 5,6 and 8 i can also ring up a bell but i cant ring a bell down
Im a bellringer (a leaner bellringer) ive never rang up bell in a peal before
why was there no plain hunt at the end of the method?
Because a Doubles method ends in rounds.
Depending on the composition, a traditional touch of 120 Grandsire Doubles can end either with a plain lead (which is the same as Plain Hunt), or it can end directly after a call (a Bob or Single). In this case, it's a bob that brings it round.
