Oooh cool! Rochester isn't too far away from me (a bit less than 4 hours) - maybe I'll have to look into that book, I love my vampire novels lol But you're so right, it's so fun to see places you know referenced, it feels like insider knowledge! Since this video I also read a memoir where the author grew up in Allentown, PA and I lived there for 4 years in college so that was also pretty cool!

Thank you! Anthologies and magazines were something I always wanted to submit to since I graduated college (2014) but finding the *right* ones is important, and I'm glad I started to find homes for some of my pieces :) I hope I can add a few more in 2025! If you decide submit best of luck!!

Honestly when I sat down and looked at my spreadsheet I was baffled by the 15! I'm proud of doing it but yeah it was a LOT and I can't keep up that pace if I want to write novels lol So far the walking pad is great! I'm loving it and it's been pretty easy for me to write and walk :)

I'm glad Misery is a good film! I am looking forward to watching that over my winter break! (And thank goodness the peens are less 😂) I am SO devastated that I JUST found out that Nightbitch isn't having a wide release in theaters and I was looking forward to going to the movies. I know it will be on streaming (I think I saw on Hulu) but I wanted to see it now 😭 I similarly like Amy Adams and want to see her in this weird role. Yes I sometimes get to write a little at work but the last few weeks have been nonstop so my writing time has been minimal (I also don't take a lunch so lunch is on the go if I have back to back sessions, a sacrifice I choose so I can go home earlier lol), but I do love the idea of the text-to-speech, I've never used that feature before! I could absolutely swap puzzles for writing but I have just found that morning writing isn't really my prime because I have too many things on my brain and I don't make as much progress. BUT it is good to keep in mind as I may have to try to get back to consistency if the evenings are too hectic! And yes it is!! It was my Christmas gift last year and I absolutely love it lol

I have liked other books from that author! i do love my chili lol definitely go make some, it's going to be a great chilly weekend for it ;) And legit, ADASM was THE FIRST physical book I have completed all year; I physically read two poetry books but they were much quicker and smaller in general, but I hadn't finished a physical novel because I would either switch to ebook or audiobook to make it easier for me. Haha i kept that clip in there specifically because she was being cute! lol

Query letters are SO daunting, and I have written a few before this and they honestly were terrible lol so writing this one gave me a lot of anxiety, but I think what made it easier is that I had a very clear idea of what this novel is about - my last novels were a little more disjointed and it was hard to say what the novel was, which was why my query letters were vague and unappealing. I think if your plot is solid, the query letter becomes easier!

@@BreeBuonomo But the practice you had with those other stories and query letters helped you and that really helps to keep our heads up... :) definitely helped motivated me thank you!

The new year is a great marker and goal to have! It is definitely hard to write with having a job and other life duties, but being reasonable about how much you can get done and how quickly is important! Good luck!

Lol nooooo I am not! Horror/Fantasy for sure, set in modern day, but my vampire was raised and worked in a coal mining town! But you'd actually be happy to hear I've written some historical short stories (no magic at all)!

I don't know who Bob is but he's probably right! We can so easily get in our heads whether we're "successful" or not, and success has to be measured in your own terms :)

I agree, and this is why we choose to write the books we write with the intentions we have lol I was definitely disappointed but I probably shouldn't have been, I feel like that is a flaw with longer series - the more they continue, the more likely you'll be let down! And I did!! It was so amazing!

@@BreeBuonomo SPFBO is the self publishing fantasy blog off and its run by hybrid writer Mark Lawrence. It’s in its 10th year and Olivia’s book was in it a few years ago! It’s a completely free contest for self published fantasy books. I was in it last year and I’m also in it this year too! It’s great.

It definitely has a cool premise, I want to really like it but my only other experience with this author was a YA book and it wasn't great lol not the horse books! 😂

Yeah I think sometimes I'm still there in the middle, but for sure leaning more in Pottersville (which would have Bree from 2019 on the floor in shock lol)
