    Great base, I like your take on the "vertical" element all dioramas seem to have by snapping the pole, adds a bit of unique interest.

    The dioroma really completes the model. Coming back into the hobby after a long statistical I had no idea there were so many paints to help accomplish and improve the realism. I'm glad you listed the material for each step. It helps because I don't have a hobby shop in the area and order my supplies on the Interent. Years ago I made a dioroma of solid snow for an Antarctica exploration of a Ford TRIMOTOR and sled dogs. My base was plywood, ( heavy). I used wall spackling for surface detailing, painted white covered it in baking soda and sealed it spraying PVA glue. Your technique is light years ahead of those days and much more realistic Thanks for sharing, Cheers from the Pacific Northwest in the colonies.

      Ahhh thank you, it’s great to hear where people are watching from! I roughly followed the AK Diorama book that I got for Christmas, the products available now though are incredible. I like to narrate my videos but not talk too much, just give the information on what I’m doing and the products I’ve used. You can definitely bring yourself up to a good standard just by watching lots of good UA-cam channels.

      @@45degreesmodelling The former RAF Bassingbourn airfield in Cambridgeshire was used to recreate the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island in South Carolina. The abandoned Beckton gasworks in East London was used to film the bombed-out city of Hue in Vietnam. The Norfolk Broads and Stiffkey Marshes were used as Asian paddy fields, and the Broads National Park was used for the scene of the US Army helicopter shooting into the "Vietnamese countryside". Other filming locations in England include Isle of Dogs, London, RAF Swinderby, and Compton Acres, Canford Cliffs.

    Is it possible to not use the airbrush at all? I mean only using brushes for the entire model.

    • @45degreesmodelling
      @45degreesmodelling 5 місяців тому

      Yes absolutely. I would recommend a Tamiya spray can for the primer and if possible a spray can for the main body parts, but if you just want to stick to a brush then I’d recommend flat brushes to help with the finish, but again that’s not essential. There’s a UA-cam channel called QuickKits who has some good brush painting tutorials for scale modellers. He hasn’t posted for a couple of years but the videos are still relevant. Hope you try it and have fun! Tom
