based out of my home in Cavan, Ireland i hope to use my 13 years experience keeping all sorts of crazy animals to spread my love and interest of animals and to teach people to care for exotic and more unusual pets incuding freshwater fish, tarantula's and reptiles i also have 5 cats and 2 dogs and I do some fishing too so everyone should have something to love :-) i hope to upload every sunday
Moorhen chick rescue
So while out fishing with daffy from @the_irish_wild we came across a Moorhen chick in distress being washed down the river towards the rapids in the river so we picked it up and returned it to the riverbank near where we could hear a mother Moorhen calling but unfortunately about an hour or two later we spotted the chick being washed down river again so we scooped him up again and decided to take him home with us and he has been with us nearly a week now and is doing really well eating well and developing a great personality we have named him Meep and I think he's already grown since we found him so hopefully we can bring him back to the wild when he is an adult but until then we have a Moorhen living with us for the foreseeable future so follow daffy on Instagram @the_irish_wild for daily updates on how Meep is doing 😁

Talking about MBD (metabolic bone disease)
Переглядів 504 роки тому
So I ended up with another sick reptile so I decided to talk about MBD and the importance of proper lighting for your reptile along with proper diet and always remember to research the animals u are planning to get before u actually aquire them as petshops rarely know anything about the animals they are selling so probably will not sell u what is actually needed ALWAYS DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST!!!!!

Attempting to pair my pumpkin patch tarantulas (hapalopus sp colombia) they mated successfully last year but the female ate the sac at day 20 😩 so hopefully it will go better this time we also had to rehouse my H. Vileosella Tanzanian chestnut tarantula because of some mold in the enclosure

So I got a few hours to try fishing in Athlone which is on the river Shannon I only managed to get one small perch but not a complete failure 🤣 I also gave my Aviculara sp. Peru purple an enclosure upgrade to somthing slightly bigger hopefully her next one will be into her adult enclosure but this gives her more space for the moment even tho she has chosen to Web up on the door of the tub 😂

Bit of a Rant
Переглядів 595 років тому
So as I ended up in a conversation on Facebook about this I decided to cover the topic of level of care for exotics it applies to all animals but I was focusing on tarantulas in this and specifically about waterbowls and substrate as I see they are the two things that are most discussed online my stance being always provide a water dish and for terrestrial species enuf substrate to burrow even ...

Love them bro I just got this species really liked the video interesting:)
The Bullhuss has 3 wiskers the Doggie doesnt have any. Thanks 👍👍👍👍
I have a husband, Oscar, who always eats their eggs after laying them. Why and what should I do for them so that they do not eat the eggs?
What is the appropriate temperature for Oscar fish and the appropriate temperature for eggs? How many millimeters of methylene blue per liter of water if the methylene concentration is 0.5? Thank you.
The female isn’t albino as she has black eyes she is what is called oligomelanic or leucistic. Normally an albino crossed with a wild colour form (homozygous fish) results in 100% dark coloured fish that will carry recessive albino genes (heterozygous fish) etc. 👍
There are not many like you most take the eggs of the parents so this is very educational 😊
Do the adults need feeding when they raise their babies
Excellent just what I was looking for the mum and dad raising their babies
What size tank is that
We also found a moorhen chick, did yours make it? Ours won't feed, so using a syringe to give it Soya milk and trying to teach it to feed
Dont give soy milk not even slightly natural for a moorhen to eat😳 chick crumb and mealworms are best diet and the crumb can be softened with warm water the one I rescued grew up in the house bullying my cats then just randomly flew away when he was about 6months old
We found one on the road yesterday but unfortunately he died in my hand while I was feeding him .. amazing how attached you get he has a place in my garden and heart now so sad he was doing so well as well 😢
ive got breeding oscar fish had 2 lots of fry but i had a pump in there and i think it killed half of my fry and had to turn if of just have the sponge filter and they have just spawn and got 5 fry left out of 100 but they still protect them
Very good, my name is Alex and I have a Spanish speaking aquarophilia channel, I have seen your videos and they are spectacular, congratulations. I am going to talk about the reproduction of the oscar fish, and I would love to use your video as an example. Of course your name would always be at the top right of the screen, and in the comments box would be the link to your channel. I look forward to your reply, have a nice day and thank you.
Hola alex I give full permission to use my video hope it goes well for you
What size tank?
I have caught a lot of pike there lol

Sir how about feeding may oscar is on pairing stage and i feed both but didint it now..
Didint eat now
I'm eager to get my first T, and I heavily considered getting this species. But people on forums really complain about how often they try to escape and that they are not on display often. I was prepared to deal with a fast and skittish breed, but not one that tried to escape ALL the time, especially if it isn't on display enough. I keep wondering if those people just had bad husbandry because the people who are happy with them sound like the complete opposite experience. I'm sad tho. I wanted a semi-arboreal or arboreal species really bad. I'm now considering the Mexican flame knee, Chaco golden knee, and Brazilian black instead.
hi the its the river ERNE i think i fished in the exact spot the bridge is Salaghan bridge my father took me there in the mid 60s his name was Patrick Leddy his aunt lived at knockachy we woud come over from England for a holiday life was so simple amazing he had friends around Gowna .his relatives still live in the area lovely place . i woud walk from there to the river as a boy to fish another friend of his was Tommy Lantry i think he lived near by i have been back for a holiday and hope to come back again one day im in my late 60s now so will have to get a move on !
hello pal i have two Oscars in a Juwel 450ltr tank (75 gallon) , i am very concerned as all im seeing on youtube is 2 Oscars have to be in a 125 gallon tank ?? yet you have two in a 100 litre tank , please dont think im having a pop at you but id like to breed these fish and am not sure whether im coming or going plz could you help me out as obviously you have some idea of what your doing , is a 450ltr (75 gallon ) tank big enough or not , i also have two 120 litre tanks ?? any advice would be greatly appreciated ;) ps im using a Fluval F5 exterior filter plus the Juwel interior filter that is built into the tank.
Hi the confusion is that this is just a breeding tank that I remove the adults from once they have finished the breeding process they will only tolerate their babies for about a month after hatching and will eat them after that so it's much easier to alow them to breed in the tank u intend to raise the babies out in and then remove the adults back to their main tank around week 3-4 this is easier than allowing them to breed in a large 450L tank and trying to catch 50-500 babies and move them to a grow out tank 😜
@@rcaexotics2661 Again I'm not questioning what your doing at all pal , I only want to know is a 450ltr tank big enough for two Oscars ?? Adult ?
@@simoncurtin2541 honestly it totally depends on how the Oscar's tolerate each other they have very intense personalities and if they don't like another oscar u could have them in a 2000L tank and still have issues but normally if they are less than 4 inch normally they can be raised together with no issues if the pair ur hoping to get are already used to each other they should be more than happy in a 450L
@@rcaexotics2661 sound pal 👍 that's where I am they are good together but I'm worried about pollution, they are 10 inches at moment
thanks gonna try this tonight
I like watching vids of tarantulas but I don't think I could ever own one, held a Chilean Rose before and almost shit myself. I'll stick to snakes and lizards I think.
I know I'm late but can you order these from Asia? Or is this like, just within your a country?
Most countries have a few different options for where to buy I got these from a place in the same country as me
@@rcaexotics2661 thank you very much, ill sub for more of your content
Hi a few hours I got up and saw some oscar fish eggs and I have no clue on when it's time to feed them or what to feed them .. can you help me pls..
Bro how may of them finally survived ..into fully grown oscar?
I gave them away at around 1.5 inch and there was about 60 I'm not sure how many have grown to adult size at this point they are all long gone from my possession
Wow
Baby morehen nya.. Salam satu hobi..

Where did you get your shelve?
Delighted to see an Irish reptile vlogger Are you still making videos? I noticed its been a couple of months since your last post I subscribed anyways much respect ✌
Hi sorry about the lapse in videos I hope to start back again soon 😜 I started a new job in a petshop here in cavan so have been a bit busy lately but hopefully will be back posting vids before Christmas 🤔
Great videos! I was at the pet shop yesterday when i met you!
Hi thanks for the sub 😁 I'm sure u will be into the shop again soon to see the animals hopefully we will have something really cool for u to see 😁
Whay baits ?
Squid, mackerel and fresh whiting cutbait for the dogfish In that area and most of the other species around
Ahhh not too bad I live there myself thinking of doing some winter fishy
When is the third one and is there any crested gecko in the next one I live in that county and was so shocked because I live so close to that and didn't even know it was happening I want to go to the next one
The show wasn't possible this year thanks to coronavirus but there's a Facebook page u can follow if you want updates just search "Irelands reptile expo" on Facebook and u should find it but I wouldn't expect another show before the coronavirus is 100% dealt with
That'd disappointing hopefully this will be over soon
Also this is on in Waterford wit sports centre right? 🤔
I live like 15 minutes away and never knew this was even happening
What do I do about heat that's the only thing I worry about cause my room is really cold
Generally a space heater is best increasing the room temperature is a lot easier that heating the individual enclosures rule of thumb is if you are comfortable in a t-shirt then ur tarantula should be comfortable too
@@rcaexotics2661 oh ok thanks for the help man I was worried about heating before getting my first Tarantula in a few days and hopefully everything will go well 😊
@@TheRealDeclou hope it goes well for u if u have any more questions just give me a message
@@rcaexotics2661 will do 😊
Hay it’s me from the pet shop
Hello 😁 hope u enjoy my channel I will be starting to post videos again soon and don't forget to say hi when ur in the shop 😁
When and where it celebrate anothet show like this?
Where is that? And can anyone go?
Hi this was an event in Petshop Boyz cavan it's on every year normally on the June Bank Holiday but with coronavirus this year it didn't happen but we have a selection of animals in shop so if u are in the area feel free to drop in
Do you have to feed the parents while on breeding?
Yes u continue to feed the parents as if they have no food they will generally eat their own eggs as an alternative food source and because lack of food would mean conditions aren't right for their babies to thrive
Hello. I've got wrigglers and as my Oscar's are in a tank with other cichlids, I removed them and hatched them with an egg tumbler. I'm on day three and lost a few with some eggs still to hatch. I have three questions. Do I only start feeding when they start free swimming? And how long do I leave unmatched eggs? I was very unprepared for this as my pair were adults that had never been together so it was a surprise for sure. I'll be using dried egg yolk as food or boiled egg yolk. How much do i feed and do i need to feed 4x a day? Hopefully next time they breed I'll be more prepared 😂
Sooooo cute! I’m happy you were able to take care of this sweet baby
He actually just returned to the wild today 😁
@@rcaexotics2661 our wildlife organization also raised a baby moorhen and released it to the wild in an area with other moorhens this week. We believe it was three months old or so. We have went back to check on it several times. We saw the other moorhens but not this one. There is at least one other juvenile in the area ours was released. Wondering....
My home town
Do they eat there fry
Yes if the adults feel something isn't perfect for the fry they will eat them and if they are left in the aquarium with the adults for more than a month they will also start eating them as Oscars will breed once a month once paired and will see the old fry as a threat to the new eggs they will want to lay every month
what food did you give her child?
Brine shrimp mainly
Male Spider like "Let me drop you some quick dick."
Can i raise them with the parents because i don't have a spare tank. And what and when do i feed them.
R. I. P noodle🙏🙏🙏I know I'm late to the video but I remember bringing him home. 🥺Hope he's dreaming of lots of juicy bugs😊also great video👍
Thanks Savannah ❤️
Yourwelcome 😊
Cool video mate 🙂
I have 2 oscars. Im not sure if they are mating or one is male and one is female. What are the indications of ther gender or mating ritual?
It can be quite hard to tell as it's fairly common for two Oscars of the same sex to pair up and go through the breeding process but if u have a male and female u should see eggs being deposited on a rock and the male then will fertilise them so witnessing that is really the only way to know 😩
Nice fishing 👍
Thanks 😁 unfortunately I'm not going to get out for some more sea fishing until after the covid lockdown lifts but I will hopefully be posting a few videos of freshwater fishing around cavan where I live
@@rcaexotics2661 I live up back arse of a mountain so I'm screwed until lockdown lifted with no fishing whatsoever unless I can sneak around all the check points ha
