Welcome to the channel. I do videos about old Hollywood and it’s history. I do reviews of older movies and highlight actors and actresses from years past. I also go over old Oscar broadcasts because I still love the Academy Awards with all its flaws and everything. Occasionally I will highlight new films and give my reviews. If this sounds like something you would like, please subscribe or if you just want to be nice you can subscribe too!

Feliz Navidad, amiga, prospero ano y feliz edad! I have always loved this version of A Christmas Carol because it's so closely mirrors the actual short novela by Dickens. I believe when he tells Scrooge about the surplus population, it always pierces my heart and makes me cry. 😢 Great job, sis and hope to see you in the coming year, buena suerte! ❤
Merry Christmas and thank you!
Merry Christmas 🎅 Stacia 🎄 ! I remember this had so many good character actors & of course the living legend George C Scott. Excellent TV movie.
Merry Christmas to you As well!
A Living legend, I remembered all of his roles from the 70's tv shows! When a wonderful time to be alive! Great job, sis and keep em coming!
Thank you, fine sir!
This was the first version I had ever seen when it first aired in 1973. I thought it was fantastic and I was at an age where Christmas and Santa were still magical. So many familiar faces and lots of cute moments. The young girl playing Karen I remembered from my mom’s soap opera As The World Turns.

Hi Stacia 🎄 ! I remember seeing this in the 80's & it was a decent Christmas themed film. Top notch acting & likable characters. I'd watch it again 🙂.
It’s a fun light watch. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the movie!
I will be honest with you, I have never heard of this film. I am not a fan of the romantic comedy. I am sure you have done a great job with this movie, sis.
Thank you, you should give it a try. You never know you might like it.
@staciaonmovies True, one never knows, I have the same experience with kiwi fruits. I was horrified about it until I tried it.

I really enjoyed your review! Spent the day in Manhattan today. Started in the upper West Side at Central Park, walked past Pageant Book store and then bought an EE Cummings book in the East Village. I didn't see Hannah nor any of her sisters, but it was truly the theme of the day and was amazing for an Aussie to walk these streets.

The Big Chill is about 1960's idealists who reflect on their sense of dreams lost and ideals betrayed in the shadow of the inexplicable loss of their friend. Each character in their own way has sold out their ideals: the “pretty one” you refer to was a writer of short stories in college but is now a bored housewife. Mary Kay Place is a corporate lawyer, not a defender of outcasts. Kevin Kline has a successful footwear business who defends the police for safeguarding his bourgeois existence. Jeff Goldblum writes empty features about blind baton twirlers rather than the Great American novel. The soundtrack is loaded with 60's music that recalls, without sentimentality, everything the friends have grown away from. The “Big Chill” title refers to the abandonment of those ideals. Their friendship is renewed that weekend but whether they’re changed people remains to be seen. Whether this movie holds up today-maybe for aging Boomers like myself but if it were made today, it’d be fascinating to have the story told by Black people who experienced the struggle for civil and voting rights and how they’ve either accommodated themselves to systemic racism or are still fighting for independence from white oppression. One minor correction: they’re grads of the University of Michigan, not Michigan State. Thanks for your review. As a Boomer, it’s one of my all-time favorite movies.
@@DJ-bj8ku thank you so much for the comment
It would have been a major travesty to have never had Sebastian Cabot as Santa Claus. The 70’s ‘polyester’ feel to it didn’t age well, and the small courtroom set kinda put a damper on those scenes. But overall, it’s still a decent remake - can hardly stand ‘94, and it’s not Attenborough’s fault.
@@kcthesledgestoryteller this version always has a place in my heart
I’m such a sucker for this movie.
It’s a classic
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 Stacia ! I do sometimes miss the late 90's & my first cellphone which I needed because my landline was busy when I used my computer & the internet was free ! Life was much different before 9-11. This movie definitely sums up the Clinton years & the 90's in a nice way & love the locations 🗽
Excellent commentary but enough with the hand gestures!! So distracting.
Thank you, and sorry about the hand gestures. I know they can be distracting but, my hands have a mind of their own.
Like you, I think of this as a Thanksgiving movie. It's one of my favorite Woody Allen Movies for a number of reasons. 1) The style. I like the division of the movie by frequent title cards. 2) I like the way Woody has divided different aspects of his own character traits among the three romantic contenders. Mickey the neurotic. Fredrick the uncompromising artist. Elliott the cultured man of the world. All three are Allen's stand-ins representing a different portion of his personality. 3) Bobby Short. This is the movie that introduced me to the music of the world's greatest (RIP) cabaret singer. 4) Diane Wiest sings. I love her albeit truncated rendition of I'm Old Fashioned. Carrie Fisher also does a nice job on The Way You Look Tonight although, need I say it, "I hate April. She's pushy!"
Thank you for your comment. Bobby Short at the Carlyle is classic!
Actually, Michael Caine was filming Jaws: The Revenge (#4), not Jaws 3D.
Oh gosh you’re right. I don’t know why I said Jaws 3. Thank you for the correction
There is a reason why there is a song called Bette Davis Eyes. ❤
She knows just what to do to make a pro blush
The problem was when this movie was released in 1983 I was 13 years old so it's very hard to reflect back on my life when there was so little of it! 😂 I did enjoy the soundtrack particularly because I was raised on a lot of this music. I may have to go back and give it a rewatch since I'm a lot older now and have a lot more experience and memories to reflect back upon in my life. One thing I do tend to identify with William Hurt's character is that I am a combat veteran, whereas in 1983, I was not.
It is a good rewatch. It hits different at an older age. I too was a kid when it came out
@staciaonmovies I think we were both kids, but I think I am older, but I don't know about being wiser! LOL 😅 😆 😅
Younger but not by that much
Hi Stacia ! - Really liked The Big Chill & particularly William Hurt & Meg Tilley. Laurence Kasdan would make one of my favorite 90's films with Grand Canyon which has a terrific cast including Kevin Kline from The Big Chill. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 !

He really has done some great movies, and "Hannah" is a film I always view around this time of year. Based loosely on "Fanny and Alexander" it's a really smart and incisive view of three separate personalities. (I've always thought that the three women were actually different parts of Mia's personality.) I love how he writes characters that are lost, and are always moving toward their best selves. And his films are so beautifully shot and scored. Really, one of the best filmmakers living.

Yes it will. I watch it every year. Check out my 2022 Christmas playlist. I have it in there. It is one a my first videos that I did so it’s a little rough.
This movie is the only Woody Allen movie that I like! Nothing really happens in it, like All Woody Allen movies, but its the usual conversational, people talking over each other style, but I like the 1980's upper West Side setting, the cosy townhouse get togethers, and I do admit to being a lot like Woody Allen's character rather than any of the sisters! I am a hypochondriac, but I also have a pretty pessimistic, almost (almost, not quite!) nihilistic view of life. He is SO relieved when the doctor tells him that he doesn't have a tumor, but that initial elation fades away as he goes straight to pessimistic, hopeless mode again and is like 'What's the point?' Its rediscovering his love for just laughing at a Marx Brothers movie that makes him realize its NOT a good idea to be so introspective, to overthink so much, to question too much. Nobody does existential crisis better lol. Now that said, its all a little self indulgent, and not many people sympathize with the existentialism amongst the upper middle classes who have many friends, a full social life and complicated family relationships. But I do like this movie, and yes, I do separate the art from the artist (jury is still out on him as far as I am concerned; I just do not know).
Thank you very much for your insight. It is always interesting to see yourself reflected in a character (whether good or bad). I too like the upper west side setting and seeing the contrast with the Chelsea and LES setting that Holly’s character brought in.
He was vindicated by two courts, Mia is weird and as unconventional and even creepy it is that he is with Soon Yi, they have been married over 30 years.
People have their opinions, whatever side they are on. On this point I don’t think anyone is changing their mind about the situation. This is why I try to focus on the work.
I enjoy some of his films, but we must acknowledge that Woody Allen embodies moral relativism, egotism, societal destruction and, of course, nihilism. Mia Farrow's role in 'Rosemary's Baby' (1968) left her spiritually scarred to this day.
@@ryleighloughty3307 unfortunately we have to face a lot of people who have made great art are not good people
