It’s a good question actually. You can use either single or double inverted commas but you need to keep it consistent. From what I know, the difference is that one is American and the other is British English. The important thing is to be consistent in your use. If you use double, then stick to it throughout.

Hi cher... for 2022 paper 2 question 5, the answer is "the writer used a hyperbole, "a whole lifetime away" to exaggerate how distant lucy felt from the place." However, for your answers, you didnt have the same "format" as the answer. 2022 paper will identify what kind of structure or type is that (hyperbole, personification, etc). So i was wondering if i will get marked down if i did your way instead

Hello, could you give feedback on my opening? Personally, a person's values is uniquely something that sets them apart from everyone else. It isn't just something that influences one's way of processing situations and decisions, but rather something that would ultimately shape one's future self and path. My name is Ethan Ching, the vice-captain of the basketball team, executive member of the student council, and gold medalist debater in my club. I firmly believe that these outstanding accomplishments serve nothing more than merely my reputation. It is rather a reflection of the values I have upheld since young that enabled me to grow and attain this degree of success. However, these invaluable values isn't something that I can never take full credit for. Why? These values are a replica, a result from growing under the wing of my mother, who nurtured and taught me to become the best person that I am today. Hence, that person whom I will forever be indebted to, whom shaped me into the the amazing son that I am, will undoubtedly be my one and only mother.

"The holiday had found its fiercest day yet." Shows that the day is one of the hotest day. "One woman who carried an unmbrella wedged into her armpit, like artillery." Shows that the woman was sheltering herself from the scorching sun with an umbrella. "The sky was iron flat." Shows that there were no clouds to block out the sunrays, making the weather extremely hot that day.
